Considering the terrible economy and reduced prices of real estate in FL my wife and I are forward planning (we are in our mid forties) and considering the purchase of a condo in the Orlando area for our retirement. I need an agent that specializes in condos within 15 minutes of WDW.

Please PM me.

Thanks

We felt the same way and just purchased a condo in Naples, FL - just 5 minutes from the beach. Just a word of warning - banks are not very willing to lend money for the purchase of condos in FL right now. After many hassles, we finally purchased with our personal line of credit - basically a cash sale. It will be worth it in the long run, but it was a nightmare (literally - sleepless nights!) during the process. If you are paying cash, it will be easy! Good luck!

Also just wanted to add that a 15 minutes ride to DisneyWorld location will also be tough.
Most of these are time shares, resorts, or apartments. Some are former apartments that have been converted to condos and considered not to be a wise investment as building codes have changed requiring new condos to stand up to bad storms that may happen to pass through Orlando.

You may have better luck with a small single family house in Osceola county that you could rent out to other vacationers for times you aren't using it.
Osceola allows short term rentals where Orange county does not.

We are considering the same thing but we are willing to go up to 45 minutes away from Disney......

Please PM me also......in need of an agent that can show us around while we are down in August.

We don't have an agent but were looking into taking advantage of the low prices and buying an inexpensive condo now, and move into it when we retire in 2011. Word of warning: we have been advised NOT to buy at Bimini Bay near Davenport. Bad management and the clubhouse just burned down. The condos were priced at pre-construction in the $300,000 range but are now selling for under $40,000.

ChristmasElf - what is considered a short term rental?

We're moving to Orlando next year (Army willing) and would be looking for a house for rent. I'm not interested in living in Osceola county.

I have read that Bimini Bay is really, really bad......

Reviving an old thread here. We too are looking for an agent in the Orlando area. Please PM me if you know one.

Thanks!

We are also interested in renting and would love to know the availability and general state of the market with renting either a house or large condo (3 bed) in Orlando. We have been originally planning on moving to a beach town, but if the Orlando area has a much better (cheaper more availability) market right now, we would consider Orlando instead of closer to the beach. THanks.

Sent you a pm. Our property manager in Emerald island Kissimmee is also a realtor. we love working with her.

I rent an apartment but we love our area which is in Orange County right near the Loop in Osceola County. The Section we live in is called the Hunter's Creek area of Orlando, but that is the HOA name. But we have everything basically within 10-15 minutes of us. Regardless of where you choose, make sure you go and visit it during different times of day to get a feel for the area, the neighborhood, those who do business in, live in, work in that area.

If your gut says that something doesn't seem right, go with it. We love our area, we hadn't heard bad things about it, and we are generally really happy here. The only complaint we have is that gas tends to be higher right around us but other then that its convienent and pretty well kept.

We would have chosen Celebration but for the price they charged, the apartment was quite small. We pay similar here, but we get a much bigger apartment for the price.

Good luck in your search for a future home!
