Vote on the Ground Transportation changes0Posted by Ed in General (Wednesday December 7, 2005 at 11:23 pm)

The final meeting before approval of the change in Ground Transportation Regulations turned out pretty good. GOAA seems to have become pretty open in the “public forum” meetings. A lot has been accomplished in the past two weeks. The work on the ground transportation regulations was very good and covers a lot of the questions that have been racing through everyone’s mind.
To basically round it out the Destinations Companies have been included in the new regulations. They will have to follow the same rules and will be faced with the same penalties. The two most important additions are that the companies will only be allowed to greet pre-paid passengers and the funny costumes will not be allowed. The “meet and greets” will stay on the baggage floor as they always have been.
A Disney representative got up and asked if the “free” shuttle would be included in these regulations. It was kind of unclear what she was looking for. The answer given was a resounding “yes,” all companies operating out of the airport were included in the regulations.
In a discussion after the meeting this reporter was informed by Ron Lewis that the regional shuttle question will be taken up sooner. “Sooner than you think, Mr. Korgan,” quoted Lewis. This reporter will definitely be there to help things along.
Hopefully, GOAA and the transportation industry can continue this new era of cooperation.
