Organized moms...

I use a calendar on my phone (Iphone now, was Blackberry) to put all the appts in while I'm out.

Then our saving grace is our dry erase calendar. It has a corkboard on the bottom and a notes area on the side. Each month I go through and write that months' appts on their from my phone. Each kid has their own color dry erase marker, as do DH and I. That way they can easily look and find their appt/practice/game etc for the day. It hangs in the kitchen by the garage door so it's easy access to reference when we run out the door in the morning.

I hang school calendars, sports calendars, homework instructions, project plans etc on the corkboard so we always know where they are.

I am not exactly what you would call organized but I do have a calendar because we always have to be somewhere. I use a 3x4 dry erase board and update it every month. I use a regular wall calendar to write down the upcoming months events that I cannot miss then each month I transfer it to the dry erase board.

This is what I do too...I also give each kid (5 of them) a different colored marker. Its easier to see at a glance who's got what going on by looking at the color of the marker.

I would like to get a huge dry erase for the door that leads from the house to the garage--our main door that is used. I think info would definitely be seen there instead of where I have it now.

My wife carries an agenda everywhere she goes and has a calendar and uses a different color for each child, pink, green and blue.

Thanks for the ideas! I'm still trying to figure out what will work for us! I'm guessing probably just using it would be the 1st step to making a system work - LOL

There was a time years ago that I used a calendar & wrote everything on it - it was hanging on the fridge - had all the bills listed on there & everything - also had a chart to write down every penny spent - it worked well for me - guess I just got lazy the following year - but I've gotta get back to it.

what kind of calendar do you use? If its a specific brand name please share - insearch of all the help I can get!

I am extremely organized but I do not use a calendar that hangs in my home (I don't even have one hanging in my home).
I use a pocket calendar that I input all games, practices, work schedules (for dd) drs appointments, etc. There are many times that I want to look at a date that I am not at home to look on the calendar and having it handy in my pocketbook is much for efficient (for me).
I always buy one that holds 2 years and make sure each date is big enough to input misc. items.
Although the one I have now is 2009-2010, I probably won't get the 2011-2012 until the summer (unless I need it beforehand).
In this calendar, I also make sure there is space for phone numbers in the back where I have everyone's phone numbers written down.
I could have it all electronic if I wanted, but I much prefer it this way and it works for me.
My dh uses a similiar method but his just really has the kids sports schedules and practices (since he attends both for all).
Hope this helps.

I just started using famundo today (www.famundo.com) I like that it can send you email reminders of upcoming events. It is packed with stuff you can use it for - I think this one will do the trick for us!

I also have a family calendar hanging in my kitchen but none of us ever look at it, lol!

chalk us up as a cozi.com family. everyone is color-coded and both dh and I can see the calendar at work as well as on our BB.

We use Google calendars for online stuff but we also have a wipe off calendar in the office and am trying to find the one that goes on the fridge (we just moved and our packers were NOT organized!)

I use the same one! Just ordered another from Amazon. We are a family of 5 and I can see everone's activities at a glance side by side.

My sister bought me the Boynton one several years ago - once we got used to the vertical format I never wanted to go back to regular calendars. Last year I found the same format in a "Peanuts" calendar and I just hung up this year's version.

I really love how easy it is to tell who is busy when! There are only 4 of us so the last column is used for everyone else or things that are for all of us.

Every year I use the Mom's Family Calendar by Sandra Boynton. It's a vertical grid that has five columns running across the top and days of the month down the left hand side. I list each person's activity on here. I also had DH put up cork board on one wall in my kitchen. This is where all important papers and appt. cards go. There is a column for each person and the last row is where I pin up all those little appt. cards go. Works for us!

I also use the same calendar. It is big enough for everyone's appts on it.

I will have to check out the online stuff, although I will still have a hard copy. I keep my calendars.:thumbsup2

I'm not a mom but my mom is pretty organized.

She used a regular wall calendar. She also got a little basket thing that hangs on the wall near it. Each person in the family was assigned a different color pen. When notices came home from school/in the mail/whatever, she would immediately write the event in the calendar in the appropriate color and RSVP if necessary. She'd save the event information in the basket until the event so she could refer back to the information if necessary.

(I'm writing in the past tense about it because both my brother and I both left home a while ago. She still uses this system, but with just her and my dad.)

I use google's calendar. My husband and oldest son each use gmail (as do I) and we get reminders and we can see it on the left when we check our email. *love it*

Hey stranger!! Havent seen you in forever how are you???

The other thing I love about Google Calendar is taht you can set it to send you a text alert before the event. I have mine to text me 10 minutes before I have to leave for something. That way I can make sure we have everything ready.

I use a regular month-at-glance calendar and make sure I write every last thing on it. For some reason seeing the whole month at once is easier for me to plan than only seeing a day or a week at once.

I used to tote a little calenda - those $1 ones & that worked too - but that was when I carried a purse - I'm a SAHM so I dont' have to worry about taking it with me & I don't have any appointments to worry about other than teeth cleaning & they call the day before.:rotfl: there are sports schedules & dh's work schedule I need to put on there....

I never think I'm organizaed, but I am...

I switched to a Blackberry last year to help me stay organized. I figured out that my three (or 4) calendars could be consolidated on one little BB Curve. It works really well for us.
