Hi all,

Heading down next week for 6-day stay and have used the grocery delivery services before but I am thinking it might be easiest just to ship a couple cases of bottled water from Amazon prime as I won't be needing too much else in the way of food etc. I believe I've seen posts on here before related to this. Does this work well and if I do it a few days ahead will the hotel hold onto it if it arrives before I do? More concerned with convenience than pricing.

Thanks!

Yes they will hold it for you, you should provide your check in date. Expect to pay for a Disney handling fee.

$5 / package. A bit steep for water. I am using Amazon Prime Now to get free 2 hr delivery of water, fruits and veggies. There is no charge for Prime Now because it goes to the bellhop.

How are you getting to Disney?

I'm assuming you're flying and taking the bus to the resort? If you had time you could Uber to a grocery store. If you're flying in, you could get a car service and Florida Tours (recommended and use every time) will do a grocery stop for you on the way to your resort. Granted there's a fee for the car service, but hey, you're not on a bus and you go from the airport to your resort then as well, in style and comfort, lol.

Yes, all great ideas and we've done that before but we are on a tight timeframe. Landing at 5:00 pm and hoping to make it to Boardwalk to check in, leave luggage and then into Epcot for an 8:00 pm Frozen FP. Might be a bit ambitious (!) but are going to give it a try. We may uber or get a car service for the faster ride time but don't what to also then stop etc. I may just go back to the grocery delivery if Amazon prime Now doesn't work out!

If it's really just water, I would just grab a case or two from the resort store. The prices aren't that bad, and no uber or deliver fees. If you are ordering other things, then I would probably try Prime Now.

I believe Prime Now has no minimums and no delivery fees. Plus no package handling fee by the resort. Their prices are ok.

Yea, it's about $6 for a case of Dasani so not worth delivery for me. They also are pretty reasonable on other items like cereal, milk, eggs, etc. The selection isn't great but prices are fine, think grocery store but not on sale. You also get a 10% DVC discount.

Is Disney not charging a delivery fee because it's water, groceries etc or is it because it's amazon prime?

I had an order from amazon prime delivered to poly this July and I paid a fee, but that wasn't water, groceries etc.

I believe Disney charges for Prime because it comes like a package (like UPS,FedEx, USPS) to the convention center if the hotel has one, or the front desk if the hotel doesn't.

Disney does not charge for Prime Now because it is dropped off at Bell Services (like Garden Grocer).

We used Prime Now a couple of times and no delivery fee.
I will use that again.

I'll either buy from resort store of try Prime Now. Do you have to be in your room when prime now arrives?

If prime now don't have a delivery fee, I'll try that as well. Saves me a trip to the super market.

Instacart delivers from Publix and your first delivery is free.

The Speedway gas station right across from boardwalk is a good option. You can walk there with your empty rolling suitcases (but be very careful when crossing the busy road)...they have cases of water, beer, wine, sandwiches and snacks. A great savings...but again...be extremely careful when walking there. Another option is to rent a car from Alamo for one day from the Dolphin....we are doing that for around $45 for 24 hours....will do our shopping for the week and do our "must do" resort dining that is far from our resort. You can get a DVC or AP discount. But if you don't want to rent a car, the speedway really does have lots of stuff. I'm not a big fan of having things delivered, then transferred, then being brought to your room...because it seems like you have to tip everyone. And where is the savings there? But that is just me..others don't mind the extra cost. Above all....enjoy your stay. Boardwalk is wonderful.
