Orbitz Ticket Specials

Orbitz changed this morning. It's a little higher, but still not the 20%

"5.10% Cash Back on Retail Hotel reservation, per Activity reservation;"

I think, although my math is sometimes goofy (no pun intended) that cheaptickets is cheaper at "6.88% Cash Back on Activities"

Your math is not goofy! I got my tickets in November using the cheaptickets 6.88%. They had the same deals as orbitz, buy 3 days, get one free, etc. They also use the same voucher system that you exchange dot tickets at the booths.

Even more strange is the fact that Orbitz and Cheap Tickets are supposed to be owned by the same folks. You'd think they have negotiated the same rate with Ebates. I'll have to remember the cheaptickets option for the higher ebate.

Did you report the missing cash back? It has never required a hotel stay for the activities cash back. I would report it no matter what and let their CS review it. If you qualify, then you'll get it, if you don't they'll tell you why. Either way, it's nothing from you other than a few seconds to place the report.

I did. They said to contact them again in 7 days if I don't see it. So we'll see, I guess.

Can anyone confirm if tickets from Ebates are upgrade-able? My plan is to by a 4 day park hopper so we get Magic Morning and then upgrade to a annual pass before our last day.

I have previously read that the tickets from Way.com are upgrade-able. Thanks!!

We bought tickets from Orbitz through Ebates last year. We did the buy 3 days, get 4. We were able to upgrade them to APs.

If you are upgrading, use them to enter the park first so you get the full value of that ticket applied to your upgrade. In our case, we got the price of a 4 day ticket applied to the AP, even though we only paid for 3.

Can someone explain the ebates terminology for a newbie? What's the difference between an activity reservation on ebates and an activity?

Activities would include the Disney tix - so right now the discount is only 1.7% for U.S. users.

Actually, this is how it is currently listed on Ebates website:

"5.10% Cash Back on Retail Hotel reservation, per Activity reservation; 1.70% Cash Back on Activities Package"

Disney Tickets would fall under Activity Reservation, not Activities Package. So the current rebate would be 5.1% right now.

Huh. I read that as though it were related to the hotel reservation.

I think this is a case of you won't know what your purchase qualifies for until you make it and get the cash back. I can see ebates putting ticket only purchases in either category. Since they are vague in what qualifies as what I figure on the 1% and if I get more than great.

I got $53 back. I bought 2 adult and 1 child 3 day (4th free) park hoppers through cheap tickets yesterday. I got an email today that they money was in my cash back.

Excellent, it should be the same for me. I just bought our tickets today. I got the 4/5 day free, 2 adults and 1 child. Every little bit extra helps. I'm going to put all my ebates money this quarter, and next, to our meals on our trip.

Oh ok. so you went through ebates to cheaptickets, is that right? We are looking at 5 day passes. Hopper would be cool but I could also do non-hopper. Not a huge deal for us.

Also, do you all know how long tickets are good for? If I buy now, can I use them in october?

If you buy now the tickets then they will be good in October. The tickets we bought last November didn't expire until January 2016. Remember, you will actually get a voucher that you will exchange for your tickets at the ticket booth. You will need to put your dates into Cheaptickets but I think that is a formality because I have read reports of people being able to change the voucher on dates other than what they originally entered.
If you're not going until October it may be worth waiting another month to see if Ebates offers the 20% cash back for Orbitz activities. That offer came out mid-Feb the last few years.

We fly out on 2/20 for our trip. I suppose there's no harm in waiting until the day before, at the latest, to see if they do that deal. For 9 of us, its a pretty substantial savings - difference of nearly $300 between the 6.88% now thru Cheaptickets and 20% if Orbitz offers it.

It is, however, nerve racking. Just feel like we should have it done by now, ya know?

I am in the same boat but flying 2/14 (party of 6). I'm so nervous they'll discontinue the free day...

I agree, I also read it as saving on a hotel reservation when you also book an activity.

I booked on the 17th and still haven't seen any cash back.
