Orbitz Ticket Specials

Do you get cash back on every purchase (accessed through the site) no matter what it was or do you only get cash back on certain purchases? I guess that is what I am not understanding.

I have only used it for purchasing Disney tickets through Orbitz. Both times I had issues with it showing up, and both times they resolved it very quickly and I got my rebate checks.

Not necessarily. The usually will list any exclusions. I don't think they give cash back for gift cards so that's probably why you didn't get anything for your Target purchase. You should be able to look under your account and see your "shopping trips". If there is a check mark next to the store then it means they have recorded it. Also, make sure you are signed in to Ebates before you shop.

I also recently found out they will not give you credit if you shop using a coupon code not found on their website. I have always had good experiences with their customer service so hopefully the can help you. Good luck!

So yesterday I went to ebates.com, searched Orbitz and clicked it, and then followed the instructions above to order my Disneyland tickets. No mention of cash back. I haven't gotten an email or anything saying I'm getting cash back. So I'm guessing there's no cash back for activities until you are also booking a hotel or flight.

Here are the current Orbitz deals through ebates....

6.5% Cash Back per Cruise reservation
3.0% Cash Back on Retail Hotel reservation, per Activity reservation; 1.0% Cash Back on Activities Package
1.0% Cash Back on Prepaid Hotels, Prepaid Hotel Package, Air Package, Car Package, Activities Package
$2.80 Cash Back per Car reservation
$1.80 Cash Back per Air ticket

It says "activities PACKAGE." So maybe that means I have to book hotel or something with it. Because like I said...I did everything above. Went to ebates, searched "Orbitz", clicked it. Clicked the button, it told me I didn't need to do anything else. Clicked activities, went to the Disneyland page shown above and ordered my tickets.

No, you don't need to book anything else with it. It can, however, take a few days for the cash back to show up while they are processing your credit card. If it doesn't show up by Monday then you should contact them. Good luck!

I got 2 cents back from purchasing something from Walmart. And 54 cents from buying a couple small baby items on amazon. So I know I'm doing things right. Nothing from Orbitz though. The Walmart one was same day as Orbitz. Both paid using Paypal.

Those of you who accessed the sites properly (through Ebates) and haven't seen anything on your cash back should complete the form the have on the site. They ask for information then will find it for you. I had trouble both times I bought through ebates but found them very helpful on the back end.

If you try that and still fail, post a note on their facebook page.

Where can I find the form to fill out?

I hope this deal sticks around through February! Even with 3% back...I would be saving over $40 bucks on our tickets which is great to me!! I have never done the voucher thing though...I have always gotten actual tickets for our trips.

The info on ebates is interesting. I've never used that before. I'll have to check that out!

I'm wondering what I might be missing with the Orbitz "free day" deal, though. If I try to purchase 2 adult and 2 child 4-day hoppers (to end up with a total of four 5-day hoppers with the free day), it comes to $1,126. If I save 3% with ebates, it would take my total down to $1,092. The price for four 5-day hopper tickets (2 adults and 2 kids) on Way.com is $1,100. So yes, the Orbitz deal with the ebates deal is cheaper (by about $8), but I don't see how it's really a "free day." Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

I've never heard of way.com so I can't comment on that.

But tickets at disneyland.com are priced like this....

adult 4-day hopper = $289
child 4-day hopper = $274
(2 adults, 2 kids = $1,126)

adult 5-day hopper = $305
child 5-day hopper = $289
(2 adults, 2 kids = $1,188)

So you're basically getting a 5-day hopper for the price of a 4-day hopper...based on the official ticket prices.

In the FAQ page, under Where is my cash back?
You'll need to cut and paste the confirmation email
Don't worry about formatting, just copy all the text in the email and paste it in the box

Way.com has different pricing options. Their current price makes them about the same as the deal from Orbits. Which is pretty much what you will find with all ticket resellers. Disney controls the deals they can offer and for the most part all operate on a level playing field. They may format the deals differently but the bottom line ends up so that they all end up costing just about the same

I never got an email from ebates. So I don't have an order number or anything like that. I only have the order info from Orbitz which has nothing about ebates or any sort of "shopping trip" or "order" number like the form asks for.

There should be an Orbitz booking number near the top of your email from Orbitz.

I sent ebates an email and used that number and had my cash in my ebates account less than 48 hours later.

It's not that hard to contact ebates and they are really responsive when you do.

You won't get an email from ebates. I'm talking about the confirmation email from Orbitz

Orbitz does give a confirmation number for the purchase.

You will never see anything about ebates on a vendor's confirmation email. And ebates never sends confirmation emails. Sometimes they send emails notifying you of money when it hits your ebates account but in the 13 years I've been a member I get them only every few purchases. Most of the time I just check my account and see what's been posted. Honestly, I don't worry about it like I should. A lot of my purchases get missed in ebates, it's not failproof at all. I don't worry about it because I don't pay anything for ebates. If something is missed and I don't catch it, it's on me.

So is Orbitz a voucher that I would need to take to the ticket booth and they exchange them for tickets? If so I might do that the night before we get in the parks, when we are in Downtown Disney.

Yes, it is a voucher. If you are staying at one of the onsite hotels you can exchange it when you check in.

This is printed on the voucher:

Redemption Instructions

You must print and exchange this voucher for your admission ticket. Guests staying at a Disneyland® Resort Hotel may pick up tickets upon check-in at the front desk. Guests staying at all other hotels may pick up their tickets at any main entrance ticket window. Personal photo identification will be required and only the primary contact can pick up ticket media. Parking is not included with your Disneyland ticket. For questions or park hours please call 714-781-4565.

I got WDW tickets in 2013 through ebates and Orbitz and saved 10%, which now is even more since tickets have gone up. Wish I could have done the same for DLR but their tickets have expiration dates :crazy2:

So now it is just a waiting game. The 20% is better than the one free day but I will settle for 10% ;)

Orbitz changed this morning. It's a little higher, but still not the 20%

"5.10% Cash Back on Retail Hotel reservation, per Activity reservation;"

I think, although my math is sometimes goofy (no pun intended) that cheaptickets is cheaper at "6.88% Cash Back on Activities"

Well, I already booked mine and didn't receive ANY cash back. With the mention of HOTEL in there, that makes it sound like you need to have a hotel booked with the activity.

Did you report the missing cash back? It has never required a hotel stay for the activities cash back. I would report it no matter what and let their CS review it. If you qualify, then you'll get it, if you don't they'll tell you why. Either way, it's nothing from you other than a few seconds to place the report.

Pretty sure this is not applicable to Disney tickets purchased.

5.10% Cash Back on Retail Hotel reservation, per Activity reservation; 1.70% Cash Back on Activities Package
1.70% Cash Back on Prepaid Hotels, Prepaid Hotel Package, Air Package, Car Package, Activities Package
$5.10 Cash Back per Car reservation
$3.05 Cash Back per Air ticket

The key part here is Prepaid vs. Retail.
Disney Resort bookings and Disney tickets are prepaid. So 1.7%, not 5.10%.

Fine print
Retail Hotel = customer pays at check-in. Pre-paid Hotels = customer pays at the time of booking the room.

But as I said above, it never hurts to inquire about missing cash back. Even if you use a coupon code from outside the ebates site. At times that can void your rebate but at times it doesn't. It never hurts to report it and ask and let them say yay or nay.
