Orbitz Dilemma

I booked two stays online through Orbitz for this upcoming March. The first booking went through without a hitch. The second, however, had one major snag. I chose a water or pool view with two beds when I booked. The reservation confirmation email, however, states that there will be one king bed. This won't work. My friend/neighbor and I are on a "Thelma and Louise escape from the children and husbands" trip. We do not want to share a bed!

After two days and many telephone calls to Orbits to have the problem addressed, they are now telling me to cancel and rebook. The problem is that our original room type is no longer available. The other rooms available are a good bit more expensive than our original booking.

Should we just show up at Disney and have them switch rooms when we get there? Is there a chance that they will no longer have rooms with 2 beds available?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't really be too worried about it. I booked a bunk bed room at Wilderness Lodge through Orbitz, and my reservation says the same thing about one king bed, while at the same time showing that it's a bunk bed room. I think it's a weird default on Orbitz's side, which shouldn't affect the actually reservation with Disney.

Also, where is the reservation for? King rooms are fairly scarce at WDW, and unless you specifically book a king room (which only a few resorts offer as a specific booking), then your chances of winding up with a king are pretty small. And even if you did, there are far more rooms with two beds, so I doubt switching would be an issue.

The room is at the CBR. Not sure how many kings they have. We were just looking forward to a water view, which the reservation does not indicate.

Well, CBR is one of the few resorts that does offer King Bed as a booking category. Another way to check for sure what's booked on Disney's end - have you linked the reservation to your MDE account? If so, go into "My Reservations", and see what room type it shows. If it has Water View, you're all set. If it says King, then there's a problem. In that case, call Orbitz back, explain to them the error, and ask them to put you on hold while they call Disney, and see if they can switch the room for you. I've done this when I needed to have more people added to a room, and it worked fine. Switching room categories might be a little more difficult, but it's worth a shot. If that doesn't work, you'll have to decide whether to risk trying to switch rooms when you get there, or if you just want to cancel and re-book something else. When are you going? If it's a slower time, your chances are better of getting the room switched than if it's a busy time, though it's still no guarantee. Good luck!

I do see King Bed on the reservation under MDE. I asked Orbitz to call Disney and have things fixed. The Orbitz person put me on hold and called. He came back and said that cancelling and rebooking was my only option. This reservation is for the Wed. before Good Friday--holiday period. The sale and coupon code that we booked under are no longer available, so prices have jumped substantially. We don't want to lose money because of a mistake on their part.

It's up to you, but just showing up at Disney could yield the same result of no rooms to move you to.

Can you suck it up and sleep in the king with your friend a few nights if need be?

Yikes. Well, if you're positive that you booked a Water view with Orbitz, and you wound up with a King, then most likely Orbitz messed up somehow. Disney isn't going to be able to fix/change anything, because technically Orbitz "owns" the reservation. About all Disney could do is hopefully change you to another room once you get there, IF one is available. Unless you decide to suck it up and hope for the best or re-book, then I think the only other option is to lean on Orbitz and try to get them to give you the proper reservation for the same price you originally paid. Not sure if that would work; you'd have to take it up the chain of management at Orbitz somehow, and you might need some sort of proof of what you meant to book.

I don't know your exact dates, but when I check Orbitz for a Water view at CBR for 4/3-4/6, I'm seeing availability for around $215 per night, using the code TRAVELHAPPY. WDW shows the same availability, but for about $245 per night.

Thanks for the responses. I think we'll risk showing up and seeing what they might be able to do for us. We will be checking in early and have no problem with waiting for a room.

This reservation is only for Mar.31-April 1. The room rate is now $70 higher for the same room. The prices have been going up for the last few days. About 4 days ago, a standard 2 bed room was available for around $150 including tax and fees. I've been checking the moderate resorts, and it seems they have an abundance of king rooms available right now.
