Orbitz deals?

I see the room discounts up on Orbitz. And, the rates are the same as the Disney website if I just put in 2 adults. However, when I add my kids (ages 2 and 5) to the search, it bumps up the price to $30 more per night than the Disney site........why?

That's a glitch in the Orbitz system. Everyone who has booked through Orbitz has had to have the pleasure of leaving their kids off the reservation. Then once they get the confirmation, call Orbitz and have them contact Disney and add their kids.:crazy2:

Orbitz also has a 15% off code (GETHAPPY), so when I booked a room at POP and used this code, I saved an extra $120 off the discounted WDW rates.

I did what a PP mentioned...I booked the room for just myself and dh, then afterward, I called Orbitz and they called their Disney line and added the kids to the res for free. Then I linked it to MDE and customized our MBs.

Would you use Orbitz in the future? It's just me and ds14 this time so no worries about having surcharges but how did you link to MDE? Were you able to enter your Orbitz confirmation # into MDE?

We are currently booked at WL but wanted YC. With the Orbitz discount I can get YC for $163.24 cheaper than booking directly with Disney with the 30% off room only code for our 4 nt stay.
YC would actually be cheaper than WL.
I've never booked through Orbitz before and worried if it would be a lot of extra work to buy separate tickets through UCT and link them but I think it would be easy esp while we're still home & can use my desktop computer, not trying to do it on my cell phone. :goodvibes

I'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger....

It's really easy to link to MDE. Orbitz sends the confirmation # in an email. I linked our tickets from UCT by scanning them my phone into the MDE app and assigning them to each person.

I was hesitant too, but it all worked out perfectly for us. Disney blacked out Easter discounts, so I booked thru Cheaptickets/Orbitz and saved about $1,000 with a promo code, so it was worth the extra work involved. Yes, our reservation was linked into MDE immediately -- the Orbitz confirmation number worked like a charm. Then I called Magical Express and when I gave the agent the confirmation number, she said "oh you are booked through Cheaptickets" so they could see the whole thing linked too. I would book through them again in the future -- it was a bit more work on my end, but the savings made up for it.

Ok, so I booked through Orbitz & got the promo price.:cool1:
Then I linked it to MDE & entered our ME info. :woohoo:

Thanks everyone!!:grouphug:

Strange thing though, when I customized our MBs, the shipping address that first popped up was somewhere in Chicago. I don't know where that came from because I did enter my address when I booked on Orbitz.com.

Did anyone else experience this?

Yes it automatically enters Orbitz's address. You can edit it to yours

I have never used either site - any help would be appreciated.

Orbitz usually has their code right on their home page but you can sign up for emails too

Cheap Tickets sends emails too and has it on their website but Disney hotels don't seem to be promotion eligible lately

Good luck to anyone needing to call Orbitz to make changes. The agent I got was dumber than a bag of rocks.

She spoke like a robot and kept repeating herself like:

"So I pulled up your reservation and your reservation is a hotel reservation?"
After going around and around explaining 3 times how I booked it as 1 adult, 1 child, but now I'd like to add another adult, I was polite but wanting to choke her. After putting me on hold several times, going over it again and again, she then thought it was some country club. I told her it was in Disney World and you would think I was talking to someone from Mars as this meant nothing to her as to location. Maybe I was calling some cave in Afghanistan?
I think even there they've heard of Disney World. Sheesh, it's the #1 tourist destination in the world. :headache:

She wanted to raise our prepaid price from $252 to 291. I was so frustrated I told her to just cancel it. She left me on hold again, still repeating herself over & over and I finally hung up on her. I don't normally do things like that but I just couldn't take it. She called my cell phone back to leave a message that she needs me on the phone to be able to cancel.

Just for the heck of it I tried their chat line. The lady was so helpful and offered to call Disney to verify that our room at the Yacht Club could indeed sleep 3 people without additional charge. Unfortunately it was after 10 EDT & Disney's call center is closed so I said I'll call back tomorrow. She offered to call Disney tomorrow and then email me the results of that conversation.

We'll see tomorrow how that goes. Really, though if I have to beat my head against the wall to get anywhere with this company, I will cancel and just book directly with Disney. For $38+ tax, I can only take so much stress.

I hope all of you calling have a better experience. :goodvibes

I had a similar experience. Needed to add 1 adult. The robot I spoke with would not do it without canceling and rebooking. It would have cost me another $650 if I let her do it. I asked for a manager. After being put on hold the "manager" sounded like the same person I was speaking to and would not do anything. I ended the call and cancelled and rebooked myself. Even got a better deal than my original one because I got the 35% Disney discount + the 15% Orbitz discount + my Orbitz bucks.

I still haven't gotten an email from the rep I chatted with. I will try one more time and if I can't get dh added on with no additional fee, I will be cancelling.

I'm all for saving money but not at all impressed with Orbitz acting as my TA.:sad2:

It's all good. I started a new chat and requested to add dh on and she said it was already done. I never did get the email though. Somehow they're not able to display the change when I look up on Orbitz.com.

I asked her for one moment to check on Disney's website since it's not a typical hotel; part of it is for each guest to be listed to be able to reserve ride times, etc. Then she said she couldn't guarantee anything. :confused3 :badpc:

By the time she was done rambling I was already logged on to MDE and could see him added.

I could then go back to my original email, click the ME link and add him. At the bottom it asks if I have already filled out this form before for this res so I did click yes so they know it's an update.

I customized his MB so I think we're all set!! :drive: :cool1: :woohoo:

So happy to see this thread. Going to book through Orbitz I was worried I couldn't link the ressie on MDE. In Sept we'll be paying $71.24 (tax included) for ASsp.
