Orbitz booking question

I currently have a room and ticket package reservation through Disney for our upcoming October trip. I am thinking of cancelling it and booking the room through Orbitz and the tickets through Undercover Tourist to save about $130. I am wondering if I do this and link the room and tickets...does Disney send me new Magic Bands? Or after I link the tickets to my MDE will they be linked to my old magic bands from a previous trip?

Does anyone know? I am not sure it is worth the hassle to do this since I already have a reservation made but looking at my options.

Thanks.

Disney sends you new Magic Bands every time you book a trip that includes a stay in an onsite hotel, and you can use any and all bands that you already have - they're just links to the information in your MDE account; they're not connected to any particular stay.

As long as you haven't booked FPs yet, I would go for it. It could mess up those if you cancel and rebook.

I wonder what the chances are of Disney offering a room discount for Oct. 11-17th? Maybe it would be same discount.

I was thinking of booking through Orbitz too. But read some where that linking everything could be a hassle. I decided the little bit saved was not worth the potential headache. If you book through Disney and later a discount comes out, you can call and have the discount applied.

I've booked a lot of trips with Orbtiz. When they don't have the $150 cap on their discount code, and you stack it on top of a Disney discount, and then have Orbucks to apply, it can really add up to a significant savings. We are staying 7 nights at the Poly, Standard Room, for less than $1900. No way would I ever get that at Disney directly. We've used Orbitz and gotten rooms at Contemporary for less than $300/night too.

I've also found that Disney can show a particular Resort/room category to be sold out but when checking at Orbtiz, it's still available. I guess when they give some of the rooms to Orbitz for booking, Disney considers them gone from inventory even when Orbitz hasn't sold it yet.

And if you want a room that is never discounted, like say a Little Mermaid room at AoA, the Orbitz discount is the only one you'll ever get. It's better than nothing.

It's super easy to link an Orbitz reservation in to MDE. Once you do that you can do the same things with it you can do with a reservation booked directly with Disney. Just make sure to change the address associated with the reservation to yours. It keeps the Orbtiz headquarters address rather than using the one shown on your MDE account.

I have booked room-only with WDW 3 times and called back to get the discount once it was released. Twice it was at Poly for a general discount. Last time it was at POR for a Disney Visa discount. Since I had not originally booked the room with the Disney Visa, hadn't gotten it yet, I had to pay an extra deposit when I rebooked with the discount on the Visa card. It was still worth it for the great savings. You can look at the Mousesavers website to get an idea of when there may be a discount and just keep checking back around the possible release time. I wouldn't dawdle though, because once the discounted rooms are gone, they are gone. Whether you already have a reservation or not. Also, the discounts don't always apply to all room types and hotels.

Do you wait until the Disney discount has been released to book through Orbitz? I ask, because I usually book ahead of the discount and have Disney apply it once it's released.

Also, how easy is it to have children added? I know that Orbitz charges for children, so I read that you shouldn't include them on the original reservation. How do you add them later, so that they get MBs and FP+?

What address requires changing? Is it in MDE, or do you have to call Disney? Thanks

I wait till the Disney discount is released to book. You can't change an existing reservation with Orbitz, you have to cancel and rebook so no point to book early. It doesn't take Orbitz long to load the Disney discount on their system. It was same day this last promo.

It is very easy to add the kids. I book just DH and I, linked to MDE, used online chat with Orbits to add DGD and got a new confirmation number. I called Disney to give them the new confirmation and it included DGD then

The address is in MDE for the reservation. You'll see what needs to be changed when you customize you MB and again when you do online check in

Two other items to note, in case some readers are not aware. You have to pay in full at time of booking. You can still cancel for a full refund up till a couple days before you departure

If I have a package with tickets and room booked right now, and also have a few dining reservations and a MNSSHP ticket booked and linked....will cancelling the reservation through Disney cancel all of this as well? So if I cancel the room and tickets through Disney...the party tickets will still be there and I would just have to add my Orbitz room confirmation and the Undercover Tourist tickets once I get them or will the dining etc disappear?

It shouldn't make any difference to ADR or party tickets. You can book both without any room reservation at all so canceling one should not cancel those.

I did it! Rebooked room through Orbitz and bought tickets through Undercover Tourist. It was easy...everything already inked to my MDE. Saved $144.20. Not a super lot but enough for about 3 dinners for my daughter and I so worth it to me. Thanks everyone for your help and comments.
