Oprah's 12wk Boot camp??

The magic time of 7:30 stops me dead in my tracks! Who would have thought!!! ;)

Off to have a successful day 2 of boot camp! :cool1:

I agree! I love having the 7:30 cutoff - it REALLY helps control all of the evening snacking & urges. Feb 21st was only day 1 for me, but I exercised 2 times & stuck to the NO WHITES! I can't wait to see how I look & feel in May!

Hi everyone! I'm a friend of Lisa's from the South Beach thread. I've been stuck in a rut for over a month so I need something drastic to get the last 20-25 lbs off. That is where y'all and Oprah come in. I'm signing up for the boot camp!!! I will start on Monday because I'll need to grocery shop. I have 13 weeks until my cruise so the 12 week program is great. I should be at goal weight and then the fun will begin keeping it off. Wish me luck!

Welcome Weird eye... roll tide :cheer2: (My Brother went there)

I assume Oprah did the boot camp with her 4 boot camp employees?? (reggie, etc). What was her 12 week weight loss? I know the 4 employees lost between 15 & 30 pounds, but I didn't read about Oprah's loss during the 12 weeks. I must have missed that........

Thanks! ROLL TIDE!!! My stepson goes to Bama! :cool1:

Happy Tuesday!!

I lost 1.5lbs this week. :cool1: I exercised 6x this week, so this week my goal is to do all 8x. My food intake was good up until this weekend. I did eat some bread, and at the movies I had a couple of bites of candy. I need to be prepared when I take the kids to the movies so that I am not tempted.

I hope everyone has a good day!!

Michelle

Im not even thinking about the white stuff and managed to go out to lunch and make better choices for once. Im doing well on the water and the exercise and learning to eat lots more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Still craving(or maybe just wanting) the sweet stuff. This week I will add some of the suger free jello as well as the sugar free ice cream to the list.

Thanks for all the great ideas and support.

Welcome to our latest joiners!

I didn't watch the show but I saw the program on the website and decided to give it a go.

I printed out some info from Oprah.com and made an excel spreadsheet for my workouts ( I also like to cross off stuff  ) and I just started on Monday.

My story: I've always been about 10-15 pounds overweight, no big deal. On my 25th birthday, I quit smoking and soon gained about 10 pounds, no big deal. Then in my mid twenties, I was diagnosed with Lupus. I was taking steroids for almost 2 years to control the pain, I gained 42 pounds in less than 2 months...BIG DEAL! Since then, I have tried everything to lose some of the "lupus" weight and nothing has helped. I tried Atkins before it got popular and lost about 15 pounds but then I started having tummy problems so I had to get off Atkins. Weight came back on immediately.

I bought an Elliptical and started working out again about 4 weeks ago, I've lost 5 pounds so far and then I saw the bootcamp program so I thought that would help me out.

Exercise: I am going to stick to the plan completely! I feel like I have finally found my motivation (where the heck has it been all this time??? :rolleyes1 ) and I am going to do it this time. I do the cardio on my elliptical and I just bought some free weights. I am doing the strength training with 8 lb weights like the Oprah people did (oh my dod! I thought I was going to die the first day!) :guilty:
Today was my double up workout day and I followed the instructions to a tee, holy crap! Oprah was right when she said you will sweat!!!
NO wonder John Travolta looks so good! (not my type but even I have to admit he looks good for a guy his age!)

For the first time, I am actually looking forward to my workouts now! What a difference!! (I remember making every excuse in the book to get out of my workouts! :sad2: )

Diet: I am following it the best I can, the only exception is bread, but in limited quantities. No junk food whatsoever and making better choices wherever I go.

I won't be weighing in with you guys every week as the scale is my worst enemy (if I don't lose, I get very discouraged and I lose SLOWLY so I know that there may be weeks when I don't lose anything!) but I will read all your weigh ins and all your posts.

Good luck everyone!

:cool1:

Good morning! I started the workout portion of the boot camp today and will start the diet portion on Monday. I'm actually doing Phase 2 of South Beach already so I will just cut out the whole grains. I woke up at 4:20AM and did 32 mins of step aerobics. I'll doing another 1.25 hours of aerobics and strength training tonight. I'm not following Oprah's workout schedule, but am using what I already have. I'm just kicking it up a knotch.

How is everyone else doing?

4:30 you go girl... I was a "late" riser at 5:45 :rotfl: but it felt so good to get it done with.

Guys, wish me luck I am going out to dinner with some of my girl friends... I will be strong :cheer2:

Well, this is day 3 for me & I am doing great! I am waiting for my dinner to cook now (salmon & broccoli/cauliflower)....no whites and I exercised 2 times monday & 2 times today! I can really do this!! :-) I have my weight posted by the scale - and my contract w/ Oprah on the fridge. KEEP IT UP EVERYONE!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm down 2.5 lbs!!!! It has to be bootcamp!!!! :cool1:

Have a wonderful day "losers!!!" :rotfl2:

Good morning! I got up at 4:15 AM to get my workout out of the way. I have a party tonight so I can't workout. I stepped on the scales and I'm down 1.5 lbs since I started the boot camp on Tues. I've been on a plateau for over a month so this is GREAT news!!!

Congrats on the loss!! :cheer2:

Yesterday I got up and did 1 mile of indoor walking, 2-10min walks on my breaks at work and 30 minutes of Curves type circuit training.

Today so far I did 1/2 mile indoor walking, 1-15 min walk (I still have a break to take) and I am going to the gym on my way home for the circuit training.

My main problem seems to be the weekends (it has been since I started getting healthier in Jan). I do okay on the weekdays, but I get out of my routine on the weekends. So my goal for this weekend is to get up and workout before I start my day.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Michelle

Well, with all the weight melting off you hardbodies, it looks like there might just be room for one more around here!

I've been having such a case of the winter blahs -- I've been on a plateau for just ages, and feeling like my stomach is slowly getting round again, although the scale isn't showing a change. I was vaguely pleased that at least I was nicely maintaining my weight loss, but I've been aware that I need to do something different to hit my goal.

Then over in the South Beach thread, ZerasPride has been smoking hot lately with staggering results in such a short time, and I got curious enough to check this thread and the Oprah site out. I've got that tingle of inspiration again -- that feeling of 'I can't wait to get started!!' -- and I am officially declaring myself in!

I've printed out the contract with myself and the exercises, and I need to sit down and make out a plan. I'm following South Beach, so the eating side of it won't be an issue, but where I know I need to put my energy is in making a firm plan to exercise.

Questions: what does 'owning your weight' mean? Do you decide in advance which day of the week is your day off, or work it out as the week unfolds? Is there a rule for which two days are the 2-workout days?

I'm a bit curious about how this will unfold for me, as I have lots of occasions coming up in the next weeks -- my DFiL turns 70 next weekend, and there are two parties, we have an evening out tonight and a friend's birthday tomorrow, and, oh yes, my best friend and I are going to WDW in exactly 5 weeks!! But when I jumped on board Atkins, I felt that inspirational tingle, had 2 weeks until a WDW trip, and decided to give it a whirl and see where it led me.

I'm going to do the same now, and do the best I can. WISH me luck!

:sunny:

Welcome!!!! I just started boot camp this week and it helped me break the plateau I have been on! :cool1: Glad you can join us! :flower:

"Owning your weight" means to get on your scale & put it out there! some people avoid the scale & avoid the issues....some people do little tricks to make the weight less (stand on 1 foot on the scale, etc.). My weight is 141 - there - I own it , that is my number. Now, I can move on!
Personally, I am only going to weigh myself on Monday mornings. This is day 5 for me & I have not weighed myself since Monday. As far as an exercise schedule, I think you need to do what work best with your schedule so that you won't fail. I work on Tuesdays & Thursdays (9 1/2 hour day - 2 hours of driving, etc)...so I am taking off both of those days. To make up for it, I will have 3 days of double exercise (instead of only 2).
As far as the social occassions that you have coming up - it will be a challenge to stay on track. But Oprah said something in her February magazine article about this: instead of treating the social events as reasons or excuses to cheat or eat, set up your game plan ahead of time. Instead of wondering what great appetizers might be there....wonder what interesting people you might meet there! It is hard, I know,

Good Luck - i'm glad you are joining us! This is the 1st time I have felt MOTIVATED in a LONG time!!! :cool1:
