I watched her "confession" today and I have the following comments -

1. My husband has hypothyroidism and once it is diagnosed and contolled, she shouldn't have a problem - getting the right doseage can be a headache

2. She showed a daily schedule from last year showing 3 show tapings in a day along with other onsite meetings

She chose to make her primary residence in Santa Barbara, I worried when she sold her Indiana farm in favor of CA ... She has been trying to have it all ... her schedule is a killer but it is a choice SHE has made.

Now she has this new mantra about "loving herself"

Thyroid ... menopause .... blue corn chips ... we all have problems
I found her explanantion self-serving and phony

What the heck do "blue corn chips" have to do with anything?:rotfl:

I love the Oprah show, but I did not watch today.

over Oprah too and I didnt even watch the show ;) LOL

I have always been perplexed as to why so many people take what she has to say as "the gospel". My husband and sister are both hypothyroid. They take medication and both have maintained healthy weights.

i watched oprah today too and just didn't "get" it - love yourself???

that was the whole point of the show - to love yourself??

(there's another hour of my life wasted watching oprah i won't get back.)

I enjoy Oprah and I applaud her generosity but I don't understand why a women who is always encouraging women to love themselves as they are, is so fixated on her weight.

I think there is more than enough loving of ourselves going on in society today. Perhaps people might start thinking about loving God and loving others first. They might find out that they have less time to eat themselves into obesity if they are serving others and serving God.

I have been "done" with Oprah for several years now.

Good she found out why she keeps gaining back weight she lost. Dang and all this time we thought it was the mac and cheese!

It just came on here. I'm watching, but I'll be fixing dinner and only half-watching soon.

I still like Oprah. I don't follow the gospel according to Oprah (didn't she have a show about "The Secret"? what was all that mumbo jumbo about?)

I've always liked Oprah's honesty about her weight. She struggles with it. She fell off the wagon hard this time. The blue corn chips are the snack she'd OD on this time. I understand the "love thyself" bit. It's hard for some women to put themselves first. Since she's the boss, she should be able to dictate when it's "her" time. I'll be working off some weight along with her.

Oprah has always been a yo-yo dieter. Each time she loses the weight, she becomes an expert. Then, sure enough, it starts to pile back on over a couple years. I am sure she will be slim and trim by spring. Then we'll see a new diet/cookbook, etc. Sad that someone with all of that wealth and power can't be happy with herself.

As a high school teacher, Oprah has always reminded me of a narcissistic teen girl who falls for every fad and fraud that comes down the pike. She's all Ugg boots and Coach bags. There's just nothing genuine about her. She's in a perpetual state of pimply adolescence, anxiously awaiting Cosmo's January issue with the annual horoscope insert so she can see how her year's gonna go and if it will bring her true love, a great new BFF, and skinny thighs. Grow up, Oprah. Adolescence is really unattractive in a 50-year-old woman.

Proves money can't always buy happiness. I think that she should just stop focusing so much on her weight, making it such a big issue. Sure, being overweight if not healthy but neither is yo-yo dieting.

and just like a teen girl, she has a group of loyal followers that will like whatever she likes and dislike whatever she dislikes. She's the popular girl!

OMG your reply made me laugh so hard.....but I honestly get what you mean!

I could relate to her hypothyroid issue. I have not been able to get mine regulated and have been dealing with it for the past 4 years. I work out 2 times a week with a trainer for an hour and follow that with 3 days of cardio for an hour and that *&^%$# scale does not budge. Sure I may be stronger but I am still chubby. Towards the end she mentioned she was "cured"???...I would sure like to know more about that! I did take something away from the show today and that was put "me" on the schedule. I have already planned my week plus menu. What could it hurt? :confused3

I love myself too much to watch Oprah:love:

I was also very curious how she was "cured" concerning her thyroid !

I havent watched Oprah in at least 10 years. SHe is always "same ol- same 'ol" to me. A real snoozer. Her magazine too. I bought it once for a flight to DL. 2 years later I bought another one for another flight. I could have sworn it was the same darn one!
