Opinions wanted. Is this possible? A good idea?

DS graduates from college next year. As a gift, we're taking a family vacation to WDW. We'll stay at OKW (in a 2 BR) all week (he and DH want to golf). Then, I was thinking of switching over to FW for a couple of days "for old times sake". We have many very fond memories of staying there when the kids were little, character meals, the petting farm, etc. I suggested this to DS, and he doesn't seem to mind (right now, though, his only concern is that he's finally going to graduate). But I'm getting all excited about doing this. What potential problems do you see? I must admit, my mind is so focused on the fun I see, I may be overlooking some problems doing this? Who said-"you can never go home again"? Does this seem do-able?

I think it is a great idea!:)
For my DD college graduation I gave her and her fiance (now husband) a trip to WDW at Christmas!!
I couldn't go, but they loved it, and did say they wished the rest of the family could have come. Two years later we all did go together!!!
It was GREAT! :)

I think it is a fine idea as long as you think everyone will be comfortable after a two bedroom unit!!! :) As far as moving goes, we do it every trip but we don't pack a ton of stuff and tend to unpack only what we will need for a few days. if you are prepared ahead of time it should not be a problem.

I might be inclined to reverse the order and do FW first for a couple of days. Walk down memory lane and then move to OKW with its larger space. Either way, have a wonderful time.

It would be a cabin. Actually when the kids were little, all they had were called trailer homes. I've seen pictures of the cabins, and they look nicer themed.

The new cabins are much nicer than the older "homes", but still a far cry from OKW. If I were you I'd do FW first and then move over to OKW. That way you'll end the trip in luxury! ;)

I think it would be great!! We just came back last month from a trip "kinda" like yours. We are DVC members. My DD graduated from High School and we wanted to do something a little "special" this trip. We spent 3 nights at South Seas in Captiva in a 2 bedroom condo, then moved to Poly concierge for 5 nights (just one room for 4 of us) and made our last move to OKW for 9 nights in a 2 bdroom villa. We had a WONDERFUL trip!!! I think you will too!! I don't think you will have any problem going from a 2 bedroom to a cabin, but if you think you will you can always do what others said and go to OKW last. BTW, my brother loves the FW homes and stays there a lot. I have been in the most recently done ones and they are very nice. I know what you mean about fond memories, they are always nice to "revisit". Keep staying focused on the fun and you will do super!!

Have a Wonderful Trip!! And congrats to your college graduate. I just left my first one at college 2 weeks ago and I am SOOOOO emotional!!! AND she's only 1/2 hour away!!!LOL!!!

Best of Luck!!!

I'd be inclined to reverse the order as well.

We just came back from our trip 8/28-9/7. Due to finances, we stayed at FW for 5 nights and then moved over to the contemporary. Boy was it nice to end the trip in an air conditioned hotel!
