I'm trying to figure out if the dining plan would be worth it for our family trip. We are going over Thanksgiving week (11/20 - 11/25), so the dining plan won't be free then, I'm sure. The plan is to hit the parks early, go back to the hotel for some rest and relaxation, then hit dinner and the evening shows at night. We have ADR's for HDDR, Mickey's BYBQ, Chef Mickey's, CRT, Donald's Breakfastosaurus, LTT, and Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package. According to my calculations (and please correct me if I'm wrong) - if we purchased the dining plan we would have a total of 25 TS credits since we would be purchasing 5 day hoppers. I applied these credits to the most expensive dinners on the schedule, but most of those require 2 TS credits per person. The HDDR would take 10 credits (there are 2 adults and 3 kids) as would the BYBQ. This eats up 20 credits. I took the 5 credits left and applied them to the next most expensive meal which was Chef Mickey's. The rest of our ADR's would have to be paid for out of pocket. So, here's my math: Dining plan for 2 adults, 3 kids = $490.65 (including tax). Add on to that the cost of paying for CRT, Breakfastosaurus, LTT, and H & V and the grand total comes to $821.65. If we would choose not to buy the dining plan and just pay for everything out of pocket, then I'm coming up with a total of $756.55. Now, I know the dining plan also includes CS for lunches and also snacks, but we're staying Concierge so instead of buying lunch at the parks, we could just go back to the hotel and grab some stuff there plus we could keep some grocery store stuff in the fridge. What do you think? To me it just doesn't seem like the dining plan would be worth it for us. Or I could be totally off the mark. My math skills were never really that great. :rolleyes1
Thanks in advance for your help.

I think you've answered your own question with your math. If you are not planning to eat the CS or snack credits then it may not be worth it. Don't forget to add in the cost of the food that your would be putting in your fridge though! Also, you get 1 TS, 1 CS, 1 Snack for each person for each night you are staying. Has nothing to do with the number of days you have on your park passes. (However, looks like you are staying 5 nights so your math would still be right). Don't forget to add in the prices of meals including apps, dessert, and drinks AND the tip when you do your math.

Happy Adding!

I guess it all depends. are your choices set in stone? If so I'd say don't buy the plan. the problem with the plan is it doesn't quite meet your needs. You aren't planning any counter meals and have an overage of sit downs. Plus, your Two baggers barely meat the $25 per credit threshold of getting value out of each credit.

Do you think you'll need some counter food? Do you think you can fill the rest of your needs on $70. Perhaps you could cancel LTT and db and munch at the counters those days? If so then the dining plan becomes the better option. Or could you cancel one of the two baggers? and replace it with counters Again if so the dining plan becomes the better option. If not, you're better off off the plan.

Ask yourself those questions then that will confirm to yourself whether or not you should get the plan. Given the plan you laid out, I'd say no.

Depends on your eating habits. It seems like a lot of food, so if you are a grazer it may not be right for you.
