We have the following dinner ADRs in October for two adults, one teenager and one preschooler:

(UPDATED)

Sunday: Tutto Italia
Monday: 1900 Park Fare (little one is very excited to meet Cinderella)
Tuesday: Replacing Tusker House with Boma
Wednesday: Akershus (little one likes princesses)
Thursday: Sci Fi
Friday: Crystal Palace (more characters for my little one)

All of these are for dinner, although the Crystal Palace ressie is really a late lunch in my opinion. We are not big breakfast eaters and do not like to eat tons of food in the middle of the day. The one I am most unsure about is Sci Fi. There was a ressie for Brown Derby available but I think my youngest will be more excited about the cars in the Sci Fi restaurant.

Opinions? What's good at the non-buffet restaurants on my list?

Thanks!

Monday: 1900 Park Fare (little one is very excited to meet Cinderella) Have never done
Tuesday: Tusker House Have never done
Wednesday: Akershus (little one likes princesses)Did lunch--was not impressed with the entrees (the salads, cold meats were good
Thursday: Sci Fi We really enjoy this one -- the theme is great and the food isn't bad
Friday: Crystal Palace (more characters for my little one) We have only done breakfast

My comments in red. I'm not much help since we've not done two of them. We don't like buffets at Disney unless they are breakfast. This is due to two really bad meals at Hollywood & Vine at dinner and Chef Mickey's dinner.

To be honest I think they are all ick...with the exception for Sci Fi, been for lunch a few times and the food was very good. We have done all of them for dinner and the buffets are just too salty and not the best quality of food BUT for breakfast they are fine.

Hi, thanks for the response. I was worried it was a little heavy on the buffets. I am not a huge fan of them. My husband, however, lives a low carb lifestyle and he prefers buffets because he can usually eat a lot of protein and veggies.
I might switch the Tusker House dinner to Yak and Yeti.

We LOVED Yak & Yeti when we went. I think it is a good idea to drop at least one of the buffets.

The only one I've been to is 1900 Park Fare, and I personally really enjoyed it. My family loved it as well. We've actually went twice! I found that the character interaction was very nice, and we've always found food that we enjoyed on the buffet.

Only your Sci-Fi is a non buffet. Also is your teenager ok with all these character meals? Maybe you could let him/her pick out somewhere to eat, even if it is not for a meal, maybe let them pick out a counter service or snack place etc.

If you are not used to Norweigan food, you might think its kind of strange. Dh and I have eaten in Norway and its on the order of the food there.

If you are doing all those buffets, definetly bring along the hand sanitizer too.

Tusker House also has some interesting choices. The samosas are good and I like the chutney with the pork.

We just did the Crystal Palace dinner in May. I like the chicken but the turkey soup looked like wallpaper paste. Horrid! I also like the rolls that have the cranberries in them. The carved beef was really tough too.

I have been to Akershus, CP, and Sci-Fi for either lunch or dinner (menus are similar).

CP: Very good buffet. I consistently return. Good variety and I think food quality is above average compared to your standard chain-buffet. People seem to love the characters.

Sci-Fi: I really like this place. Food is . . . fine. Pretty standard burgers, fries, sandwiches, etc, but you really go for the atmosphere. One of the most unique themes of any WDW restaurant. I frequently return.

Akershus: I love their "cold board" -- it's a step up from a traditional salad bar. Dessert trio is excellent, but nothing you can't get at the bakery next door. As for entree, I had the dumplings. I disliked them, tasted like dog food. My mother, however, had the chicken and it was pretty good. So I'd give this place another chance. And if your little one a girl, she'll love it here. TONS of princesses.

I was feeling the same as the last poster. You seem to be totally focused on your pre-schooler. What about your teenager? Have you asked him/her what he/she would like?

Yes, my oldest daughter helped me choose the ressies. She says she doesn't care what she eats (she's definitely not a foodie) and she's the one who picked both Sci Fi and Crystal Palace. She's excited to see her sister's reaction to Disney. We've had the Park Fare and Akershus ressie for months now, the others are new ressies. Don't worry, my big girl is not being left out, in fact, she's been involved in the planning of our trip from the beginning. However, we do have a few surprises up our sleeves to make the trip magical for her. We are surprising her with an appointment to go parasailing, Tink is giving her a gift card to spend in the parks and we are taking her to pick-a-pearl to have a ring made that she saw on these boards, all things I know she will love.

We enjoyed our meal At 1900 F & Akershus for dinner.
We've only done Crystal Palace for breakfast and it was good. Lots of choice and the food was hot but nothing exceptional.
Tusker House is one of the buffets I've been at Disney. Just a little side note, characters are only there for breakfast and if you have dinner they won't be there

Never been to Sci, can't help you there. Brown Derby is really good. We tried it in May and will be returning in August. If you happen to change Sci for Brown derby see if you can get the Fantasmic Package. That's what we do to not have to wait in line too long to go see the show.

My hubby is on the Paleo diet which is also low in (refined) carbs. Yak and Yeti was his favorite meal of our last trip. He got the duck (sub extra veggies for rice) and thought it was amazingly good. So, it's recommended!
