Hi Everyone,
My family and I are coming to Disney in 2 weeks for our first ever vacation!! Travelling in our group will be myself, my husband, our 2 sons (ages 7 and
5 1/2), my sister, my brother in law, my nieces (ages 7, 5 and 9 months) and my parents. I have been working on our ADR's for about 2 months and I have to say that at times it has felt like a part time job! Here is what we have ended up with:
Monday (day of arrival): dinner at Garden Grill
Tuesday: breakfast at Crystal Palace, dinner at Kona Cafe
Wednesday: breakfast at 'Ohana, dinner at Hollywood and Vine
Thursday: breakfast at Boma, dinner at Chef Mickey's
Friday: breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, dinner at 1900 Park Fare
Saturday: breakfast at Cape May, dinner at Akershus
Sunday: dinner at Cape May Clambake

We will be using the dining plan for our dinners and will be paying for our breakfasts out of pocket. That being said, we are looking to cancel one of our breakfasts. Should we cancel 1900 Park Fare or Boma? We are not sure if we want to eat at the same restaurant (1900 Park Fare) on the same day, although it will be for different meals and characters and we are also not sure if we want to cancel a character meal for a non character meal (Boma).

I would not do breakfast and dinner at the same restaurant, so I would cancel that 1900 PF breakfast. Boma has an excellent breakfast buffet, but no characters like 1900 PF.

^^^ Here are a few things I would change. On Friday I would choose either breakfast and dinner at 1900 Park Fare. If the Princess dining experience is what you seek, then how about trying for a ressie at Cinderella's Royal Table instead of 2 meals at 1900 Park Fare?

The other 2 ressies I would question: Garden Grill and Hollywood & Vine. I keep hearing mixed reviews about these two places. I had originally considered them both myself, but now they are off my list. At Hollywood Studios I would try the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater or Brown Derby. At Epcot there are sooo many choices it's hard to pick, it depends on your culinary preference of course. Some good ones: Coral Reef, Marrakesh, Angel Inn, Teppan Edo, Le Cellier, and Rose & Crown.

Breakfast at Boma is really good. Much better than 1900 Park Fair. Jungle Juice is worth the trip alone. Not only does it have regular breakfast offerings, it also has a few nice African suprises. Totally worth the trip.

Thanks everyone for the opinions so far, please keep them coming! So far Boma seems to be the popular choice!! Is it true that you can see animals roaming around outside from the restaurant window? And we are staying at the All Star Movie Resort, is this very difficult to get too? Keep in mind, we have 4 kids, 1 baby and a grandma in a wheelchair with a recently operated on leg!!! :thumbsup2

I would suggest canceling Park Fare. It was good, not great. And from what I've heard (and seen) Boma is awesome!!

You cannot see any animals from inside Boma. But you can always check out the savannah before or after.

Just wanted to add - if you don't have a car, it is a little more difficult to get to (or maybe a lot more). You will have to take your resort bus somewhere (AK park is probably the smartest choice) and then take a bus from the park over to AK Lodge. Or a cab. Depending on what time your reservation is, it could be difficult early in the morning.

Our reservation is for 9:15am. What time do you think we would have to leave All Star Movies if we were getting there by bus? If we took a cab, how long of a drive would it be? This may also affect our decision! Who knew making meal reservations could be so all consuming!!

'Ohana breakfast is PERFECT for your kid's age group!

Plus - I am one of those FEW people who love H & V. It just is easier with a buffet when you have to please so many people. The 5-7 yr olds are going to like the kids buffet....and they're gonna LOVE the "Make your own Sundae" buffet. You'll get your money's worth.

Have a Great Vaca !
