Opinions on the Food at Cinderellas Royal Table

LOL, you know rusty I've never understood the "you're paying for characters" argument.

Are the characters doing the cooking? why is it exclusive? Can you not have a decent chef and Cinderalla at the same place?

Op, I've only done breakfast and all I can say is never again. 55 bucks is a lot to pay for cold, 1/2 done waffles even with the fairy godmother.

Rusty is likely trying to point out that CRT is not as expensive as it is because of the food. It's the same kind of food you could get at any mid-range restaurant in the real world. What the guest pays a premium for is the princesses and the castle. Which many of them gladly do, but the OP asked spedifically how the food is. That's a hard question at CRT, because if you're not going there for the castle and princesses, you're going to think it costs too much for the type of food they serve. Food's pretty subjective, though, there will probably some who would gladly pay $60 for the same dinner with no castle and princesses.

If the same food were served in another location, it would not cost what it does, and if it did, it would be kind of a ripoff.

Disney figured out a long time ago that in certain restaurants (character meals, ahem) the guests would shell out the big bucks without also requiring that the restaurant put a lot of effort into the food, because the food is secondary to the character experience. It's not horrible, or inedible, some of it's pretty good, but if the characters don't mean all that much to you you'll likely walk out of there saying "look what I paid for THAT."

Can anyone order from the kids menu? My kids want to eat in the castle - they aren't particular about the food that is served, again, just the experience. My 10yo would not be interested in any of the adult food options for lunch or dinner. Can he order from the kids menu? In fact, I wouldn't mind eating from the kids menu either, is there any restriction that says we have to eat from the adult menu because of age?

Since my son will be 10 this trip, we will not be doing the dining plan. I do not want to pay adult prices for a "child" that hardly eats. I know I can't get around the dining plan with his age, but if I'm paying out of pocket for the meals, do they frown on him ordering from the kids menu?

He could probably get food from the kid's menu, but he would still have to pay adult prices. Unfortunately, at the fixed price restaurants you pay according to your age regardless of what or how much you eat.

The above is true - if the child is 10, he can order the children's menu food but will pay the adult menu price. I believe this is true at all fixed price locations.

At a la carte locations you may be able to get a child's meal for someone 10 and over and pay the child's meal price, but CRT is fixed price.

We've done CRT twice, both for dinner and you are definitely paying for the experience of eating in the castle and the princess interaction. There is a wishing ceremony which I love but that is really why the high cost. The food was so-so. Our first time we had Thanksgiving dinner there, it was regular Thanksgiving type food...meh. The second time both my DH and I got the beef pot-pie thingie...not even sure how to explain it. It was okay...I remember it needed alot of salt...I dunno, much better meals elsewhere but I think its worth it once, especially after BBB!!! :thumbsup2

I'm seriously considering booking my birthday breakfast here, because I want to eat in the castle again. It will be just my DH & me. I hate having my picture taken, so I couldn't care less about the photo. The princesses hold no appeal to me. I'd actually prefer a character free meal. Basically, I'm paying $45 for french toast & a table in the castle for 45 min. to an hour (I rarely eat more than a bite of eggs & bacon.). :rolleyes1 I've eaten at PSB in Epcot, & it felt more like a restaurant than castle to me. So, to CRT I go & gladly pay a ridiculous amount for the privilege.

Speaking of french toast, how is it served? Is it still topped with strawberries & whipped cream? I really don't want plain french toast.

OP, we've eaten at all the princess meals, & nothing compares to CRT, IMO. The characters at 1900PF dinner are great for all ages & both sexes. PSB was fine. You should try to take your DD to both some day. I don't think any of them have outstanding food. They're pretty comparable to me. It comes down to the atmosphere. For feeling like royalty, nothing compares to CRT. It's definitely what I would choose after a trip to BBB.
