Opinions on some character meals

I'm trying to decide on a character meal for our October trip. Generally I would prefer a dinner, but we might do a breakfast. DS likes Mickey waffles and the characters like Mickey and Goofy. DD loves princesses, but she likes Pooh and Mickey and Minnie, or whomever but not most of the characters at 1900 Park Fare other than Cinderella.

I'm thinking probably Chef Mickey's if we can get in, but if not, what do you think our second choice should be:
Cape May Cafe
Garden Grove
1900 Park Fare
O'Hana

My personal favorite for a character breakfast is Cape May Cafe.

The character interaction there has always been wonderful and we have been several times. Goofy is always VERY personable.

It is also one of the more low-key buffets in WDW and, probably because of that, the characters get around several times and spend a lot of time with you. I also think the food is very good.

I've always heard great things about Crystal Palace's food too, but have never been because we aren't big Pooh fans and we've never been able to get the times that I want.

I would try for Chef Mickey's first - very fun/open atmosphere, good character interaction with the Fab 5 and a good buffet w/nice selection. Crystal Palace & Ohana brkfsts are also very good - not sure if both of your kids would be happy with the characters though. Crystal Palace has Pooh characters & Ohana has Mickey, Pluto, Lilo & Stitch. Cape May brkfst is good (very calm/relaxed) - the buffet is a bit more limited than other Disney bkrfst buffets although it does have Mickey waffles, but you only get 3 characters there: Mickey, Goofy & Donald.

I would also like to know if Chef Mickeys have anything that is made to order....eggs? pancakes?

Does Cape May have omelettes??

I thought the characters at CM breakfast were very rushed. We did a CP lunch (so not breakfast, so I don't know if it's fair to compare) but the characters spent more time with us. (This is borne out by the time stamps on photos I took.) I think if I were to choose a breakfast again I'd try Cape May. I wanted to do it for the trip we just returned from but logistically, it just didn't work out.

Loved the breakfast at Chef Mickey's.
Ohana breakfast was nice because you don't need to run up to a buffet and the character interaction was great but we preferred Chef Mickey's assortment, much more variety.

I have always felt this way about Chef Mickey's with the exception of a breakfast we did there back in 1995.

That place is very busy, very packed and LOTS of small children vying for character time who will even leave their tables and approach the characters while they are visiting other tables. I think those are some of the hardest working characters at that buffet.

We did Crystal Palace last trip, thought it was great all around, Plenty of Character interaction, and the food was good too. I believe we have ressis for CM in November. I was wondering if anybody had done the new character Lunch/Dinner at Hollywood and Vine with the Toy Story Characters? And how they liked it? thank you in advanced.

Did I miss something? I haven't heard anything about this.... Of course we skew toward princesses (for my 9 year old daughter....my youngest son is 14...) and I wouldn't get support in doing this, but if it's true, it's ABOUT TIME!

Neither chef Mickey or Cape May have made to order eggs...
CP has made to order eggs and omelettes and mickey waffels and the best stuffed french toast YUM I love that stuff...

You might also think about Tusker house I have not been there yet (go in 3 weeks) but I have read that they also have the made to order eggs/omelettes..

for princess intereaction what about princess storybook in Epcot, we like the food at lunch and dinner but some don't like it but breakfast is probably the same as most other breakfasts (we have never done a breakfast we are not morning people:rotfl:) the princess interaction was great and you get a photo with a princess which is included in the price

We love breakfast at the Crystal Palace. The restaurant is quite lovely inside and it doesn't have the noise, chaos and frenzy of Chef Mickey's. Your kids must like Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger though.
We also love the food at 'Ohana breakfast, although I am a non-fan of Stitch. I think Mickey and Pluto came around too.

If you're wanting bfast I'd go to Crystal Palace
made to order omelets, well actually any egg
made to order pancakes
pooh puffed french toast
and Pooh and friends

You can't go wrong!

We'd like to try something new, and haven't been to the places that I asked about. We have been to Crystal Palace, Donald's Safari Breakfast (excellent), and the Princess Storybook Breakfast (great characters and food--except at least one of us always seems to get sick afterwards??)
Does anyone know anything about Garden Grove and what characters might be there?

We had a thread joking about this several months ago. Can anyone else confirm wether or not this is true?

I don't know if you would consider Akershus, but we went for princess dinner and my 4 year old BOY loved it! The princesses spent SO much time with him -- he was one of the only boys in the place and he got princess kisses all over his face. We're going again in Sept and dragging our adult friends with us.

Ohana's was our favorite character meal, and we did several of them. I think they all have something to offer though, so it's hard to go wrong. CM's was just ok for us. It was cool to see all 5 classic characters in one place, but the interaction was so rushed that I barely had time to get pics.

We'll be going back to both Ohana's and CP this trip.

We have done chef mickey's for breakfast- it was great. Lots of character attention. For our upcoming trip we are trying that for dinner, if I can get it. Also we are trying the Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stith where my hubby gets to act like a kid again- ha!!
