Opinions on cellphone insurance through Verizon

Ok, so I have gotten my very first smartphone. A LG Ally through Verizon. And I am wanting to know what your opinions are on cell phone insurance. I have never purchased this, as it is like an extra 6 or 7 dollars a month. I am pretty responsible and will guard this phone with my life. So is it worth it? I mean, I think there is also like a 50 buck deductible with it.

I don't know if I'll do it for myself but my son just got the Incredible and I got the insurance on it. He's very careful and responsible (almost 18) but I mean he carries it in his pocket. Even over the life of two years it beats $500 to replace the phone out of pocket.

I have it. I accidentally dropped my phone in the washing machine. It just took one phone call and the $50 deductible and I had a new phone in a few days. I think it took place over a weekend.
