Hello all! Best Buy has the Nikon S50c Point and Shoot on sale for $100 off! That makes it $250. I just bought a Kodak last year, but it's bulky, not one of these slim ones. It takes great pictures so I have a hard time justifying the cost of another camera. I'd like us to have one though that we can stick in our pocket. I was hoping to to spend more than $200 for one (Yes, I am cheap, but I have a great camera and that's why it's hard to justify the cost...) but this one seems like a great deal.

Opinions???

Thanks!
Stacie

UPDATE...Found it less expensive at Amazon, but they also have the NIkon S51??? I don't know the difference... HELP! :)

My husband has the S50, which I think is essentially the same thing minus some of the WiFi features. He's pretty happy with it. The VR works well, as does the in camera red-eye reduction. It does suffer from the same things that most small p&s cameras do--nasty noise at higher ISO's, etc. But overall it seems to be a good value (I got a great deal on the one I bought him) and it takes nice pictures for such a slim little camera.

As for the difference between the s50 and s51, IIRC the s51 is 8 mp vs. 7 for the s50. If that is the case, I would not spend more money for the s51--most casual photographers will never need that extra resolution and cramming more megapixels onto the same tiny sensor can result in more noise.
