The Frozen Holiday Premium Package.

I'm really torn on whether to keep or cancel our reservations for the Frozen Premium package on Dec. 22. I have a 6-year-old kiddo who is crazy for Frozen, but she is not aware of the package or dessert party yet. In addition to the package, we also have sing-a-long FP+ on Dec. 27 and we have secured the all-important Anna and Elsa FP+.

Downside: It’s more than the cost of breakfast at the castle, and we don’t even get a meet and greet out of it. If we were going at any time other than Christmas, I’d cancel the reservation, as just being too darned expensive for what you get. For $237, we’ll get 3 pins and lithographs, unlimited Frozen-themed desserts, and reserved seating for the sing a long and the Christmas lights. Alcohol is a moot point, since hubby and I don't drink. Kiddo is a pin collector, however. In comparison, breakfast at the castle is about $150, and the Magic Kingdom dessert party is $72 for all 3 of us, combined.

Upside: Since we will be there at Christmas, it may well be worth the money just to have the reserved seating area for the Christmas lights. And I’m sure the kiddo will love the desserts and pins.

So... opinions? Keep or cancel? Reasons?

I did Star Wars package and in comparison I can't see a value in this for that kind of money. I think you might want to check closer and someone will chime in but the Disney site does not offer "reserved seating" for the lights - only "reserved viewing". Other than MK all these dessert viewing parties have been stand up and tables cocktail height aka too high for small kids. Since seating seems to be a plus for you, I would make sure. Honestly I LOVE the lights but to truly enjoy you will want to walk all over not sit still.

It's best to view the Osborne Lights by strolling through the Streets. The Dessert party area only gives you one view and some views are blocked by a wall. There are tables and chairs set up for the party but on the Frozen thread, it was reported guests were lining up an hour before the dessert party began.

The Lights remain lit for up to an hour after park closing. That will give you a less crowded chance to view them. The Frozen thread has pictures of the seating area, desserts, and the views of the Lights from that area.

I voted cancel for several reasons: First the BIG advantage she knows nothing about it ;) that was really smart to not lock yourself in. You got the sing-a-long FP+, you got the M & G FP+, pins can be found even LE ones from auction sites after the fact if you wanted, frozen themed desserts I would imagine can be purchased at Starring Roles or somewhere else, I see nothing worth that kind of money in this package.

I think she will be over the moon with what you have already planned

I'm a huge Frozen fan and am skipping the package. The only Frozen part of the package is Frozen themed desserts and preferred seating for the sing-along.

Frozen themed desserts are available at Oaken's Snowground for about $6 each. Grab a cupcake and a drink there. You could give kiddo a shopping spree at Oaken's Trading Post. Use a FP+ to see the sing-along and walk through the Osborne Lights in the evening.

I went back and forth on this question too. I have decided this: if they add a second (earlier) seating on my date (which they already have toward the end of the month) and I can switch to that time, I will keep it. Having an uncrowned spot to see the lights turn on will add just enough to the minuscule value of this package for me to keep it. If they don't I will cancel.

I believe the dessert packages, as a whole, are over-priced and under- whelming. The cost does not justify the program.

Definitely cancel. I can't see the value in this one. Especially if you don't drink, which is the only place I can see anyone getting any value out of it.

I had the summer premium package booked for our August trip and I canceled it because after hearing more about it, I thought it just wasn't worth it for us. I was very happy when the day came that I had done that and gotten all that $ back.

Cancel. IMHO, there is zero value in this package. For so much less you can get a singalong FP+, buy some Frozen treats, buy your daughter a pin and walk around to see the lights. In all honesty, this is the worst package I've seen Disney come out with. If there had been an A&E meet & greet, maybe. I would save your money.

I totally agree. You can use some of the money from what you would have spent on the package and go crazy at Oaken's, in desserts and merchandise.

I will agree with PP's and say cancel. The lights are best while walking through them, not sitting in one spot. Sounds like the only Frozen part is the themed desserts and since you already have the sing along and meet and greet, no big deal. From what I've been reading, you can find "Frozen" desserts anywhere. Good luck in deciding and have a great trip! :goodvibes

Aw, I said you should keep it, but looking at most of the comments, not a lot of people seem to agree with me :confused3

It sounds like she's a big Frozen fan and she'd enjoy the experience. But if you think you could get a better experience out of canceling and doing something else, maybe that would be a better choice... either way, I'm sure your trip will be fun :-)

I say keep it. Couldn't vote FYI. Button didn't click.

Short dollars in the scheme of a Disney trip, especially at xmas time. Not as if you'll do this every xmas and/or not as if you're child will be obsessed with the then special even.

I say keep. And I'm as frugal as they come!

I cancelled mine yesterday for 11/18. We did the summer one and loved it, but this one is less stuff for more $.

I vote cancel. DH and I are big Frozen fans and I love sweets, but we decided not to do this. It's really just too expensive for a dessert party, which if the desserts are the same as the summer ones, are disappointing. The lights are much better viewed walking around anyways, as there is so much to see.

I have booked and cancelled twice. I just can't justify the cost. I might see it if they had some rare M&Gs but they have none. If I wasn't going to be with little ones, I might enjoy the alcohol. I just don't see it. There is nothing like walking through the lights!

Compared to the summer package, or the Star Wars Package, it's a terrible value (of course "value" is subjective). But even for the Frozen-obsessed (of which I am close to being one), it doesn't offer much "Frozen" at all. Kids aren't going to ooh and ahh over fancy desserts most likely, they may notice the characters on them, but they will definitely be just as happy with the Frozen treats that are sold ALL over the park. Likewise with the singalong--it's not going to be any better than the FP you already have for it. "Reserved viewing" for the Osborne Lights is not equal to the fireworks viewing the other package had. No parade, no fireworks, no character greet? No way. And I was willing to spend $400 on a package for MVMCP for our family if they'd done that one.

I am going but I'm only paying for one person and taking my DS2, almost 3. If I was going a few weeks later, I wouldn't do it if I had to pay for DS. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I have absolutely no problem with having 1 or 2 drinks when I'm with my son... especially since I've never had a very strong drink at WDW.

If I was going, little ones or not, I would have a couple of drinks as well, lol! At least you don't have to drive. Have fun!

We've decided to cancel. We have lots of other fun things planned for the week, and we're just not seeing the value in this one. We'll go to the singalong, meet Anna and Elsa, watch the castle lighting show, buy a pin, and get a Frozen cupcake. :)

We don't need a lithograph, don't drink, and can't possibly eat $90 worth of desserts. :) I appreciate all of your input. :wizard:
