Operation Photopass! First trip to Disney World - TR - COMPLETED 07/16

When we got to Pirates, we noticed that it was basically a walk-on so we decided to jump on.

Again, we thought it was a great ride, but still loved Disneyland's much better. This one just feels really rushed compared to DL's.

I found this in a cart not far from the ride:

DSC07880.jpg

I kinda wish I woulda picked him up, but I sadly passed him up. Sigh.

Next we took a ride on Splash Mountain. They had just opened it up after having it closed for some issues, so it was basically a walk-on.

Not quite sure what the people in front of us are doing, lol.

And then there was still no line, so they let us go around again. I kinda wish we woulda moved up a few rows though, as this was kind of awkward:

34415480011.jpg

I really enjoyed this version of Splash better than DL's. Not sure if it was the fact the seats we more comfortable and you get to sit beside your person instead of one behind the other, or what. The rest of the ride seemed the same, so that must have been it.

After Splash, we headed over to another near walk-on for Haunted Mansion:

Next we decided to head over to Fantasyland, and quickly found where all the people were hiding. Peter Pan looked like it was only a 5 minute wait, but the line was very deceiving. We turned the corner behind a wall to find that the line wasn't so short after all. I think we waited about 30 minutes.

Peter Pan ended up being the only ride we did here, as it just seemed so crowded in this area. We made our way over to Tomorrowland where we took a ride on Buzz.

DSC07933.jpg

I really didn't like this version of the Buzz ride. The targets didn't light up when you hit them like in DL, and the guns also didn't buzz. I just found it really hard to hit targets both times that we went on. The first time I thought it might have just been my particular gun, but it was just as difficult the second time. :confused3

After Buzz, we headed to see my favourite blue alien in action.

I can see what people mean about the restraints hurting the shoulders a bit, but other than that, the ride isn't THAT bad. Also we would just make sure to sit really tall until the restraints came down, and then just slouch a bit when they were done. Then it was fine.

Our feet were getting pretty sore by the time Stitch was done, so we decided to take a ride on the people mover to relax. We loved this ride for this aspect. We loved the slow motion and the cool breeze. And it's also fun to see Tomorrowland from a different view.

After People Mover we decided that we were just too tired to keep going, so we headed towards Mainstreet to check out the other side and make our way to the exit.

I really loved some of the shops on this side. Especially the glass blowing one. Also really wish I would have picked up something from there, but I was too afraid of getting something that might break on the flight back home.

It was a little after midnight when we started heading back to our hotel. We had one more long day ahead of us, and with MK being open even later the next night, we knew this would be our last night for a decent sleep.

Looked pretty crowded on main street when you got there. was it time for fireworks then?

Looks like a great night of rides.

Whenever we go on Pirates, no one ever seems to head to the right for some reason, so we get to go on it over and over again :rotfl:

Guy in splash looks like he was bending over to pick something up :upsidedow

That glass stitch was so pretty :goodvibes

Looks like a good time in MK! I'm thinking the guy was bending over hoping to avoid the splash but I imagine his back just ended up getting soaked!!

Great review of the GF Cafe. I usually only hear good things about it! Haven't dined there though and I don't see us being able to go this time either.... The decisions faced when planning WDW meals!!

There are so many places to choose from, it's crazy! Haha. I think GF Cafe and Liberty Tree Tavern will probably be repeats next time we go. Not sure when that will be though. But the rest will be new places probably.

Yeah I think he got pretty wet. Not sure what he was doing, lol.

I think it was just before the Electrical Parade. The fireworks were going off when we were on Peter Pan, so I am pretty sure it was for the parade.

I loved that glass Stitch. Wish I would have picked him up. He wasn't very much money I don't think. But with 3 flights to get home, I was worried about things getting thrown around too much.

wow, I've missed so much!! i had to take notes. LOL

Glad the bday party went so well :) My dd was never great with people around and being the center of attention but I discovered it always went much better when it was on her own turf. The groups just didn't bug her as much when she was in her familiar surroundings of home.

That was a funny shot of those people posing on EE. It looked like they were playing rock paper scissors or something??

Loved the Dino pic too. It's funny cuz you guys are all casual like oh what lovely dinosaurs :) and then in front of you there are some people freaked right out. HAHA

The keylime dessert at Flame tree looked SOOOO good. I have a weakness for keylime desserst and now I'm drooling!!

What a cute window display to come home to :) Don't you love it when Disney does the little magical touches??

The dessert sampler at GF restaraunt looked amazing too!!! We never get to enjoy desserts in Disney restartaunts bc we are small eaters and just can't do a meal and a dessert :( Seeing everyone fancy deserts makes me very envious. I think right now it may be that it's almost lunch time too and I am obviously ready for it. haha

Sounds like it was a great way to end your day enjoying the extra hours at MK :) I find it odd though that FantasyLand was so busy. I would have expected it to be more quiet bc all the people with little ones wouldn't hang out there so late. Hmm, maybe all the bigger people were taking advantage of the little ones not hogging fantasyland or something. haha.

Seth's birthday actually turned out to be a really great day. He was in a good mood the whole time, and didn't seem too overwhelmed. It was nice.

Most of our ride photos ended up having something comical going on, it's pretty funny.

We are not dessert people either. When we got the dining plan, we didn't realize how big the helpings were going to be and we thought with only one QS, one snack, and one sit down meal a day, we wouldn't be getting nearly enough food. Boy were we wrong. On the last day we found ourselves in the candy store trying to use up all our snack points. Haha.

We were surprised at Fantasyland too, but that's where everyone seemed to be.

I've realized just a little while ago that today is June 25th. 3 years ago today, my lifetime idol passed away. :sad2: I know I had never even met the guy, but I idolized him so much that I was just as heart broken as if I had. Also, it didn't help that the last 15 years of his life were such horrible ones. And he died before he was able to make his comeback. So sad.

Well I think I am going to attempt to make another update or two tonight. It's been a busy couple of weeks, so haven't had the chance.

We went to Calgary last weekend to spend some time with friends we hadn't seen in a while. They are actually heading to Disneyland tomorrow, so I was happy to give them some tips for their trip. I have the Dis to thank for that! They should have a blast. Chrissy (my best friend) has never been, and her husband went when he was just little, so it's like a first for him too. I am so jealous!

Then while we were down there, we celebrated Canada Day by going downtown Calgary to watch the fireworks. Since it was past Seth's bedtime, my mom stayed with him while we went with my brothers and Grace. Here are some photos from that. Some are not that great as they were taken with my phone.

This is a new building downtown Calgary. Its now the tallest, and probably the widest building there. It's huge! I had to take a couple photos of it.

DSCN1000.jpg

To get an idea of how big it is, here it is next to a normal sized 15 story building.

DSCN1003.jpg

And then a few of the fireworks. It was an amazing show. Probably the best i've seen outside of Disney! Would have been even better with a little music.

And then they lit the torch on the Calgary Tower, so I tried to get a couple shots of that, although they're bad, lol.

All in all it was a really fun night. Love watching fireworks. So much so, that I am wanting to go back to Calgary next weekend for this:

Finally we got back to Red Deer on Tuesday, but only got to spend one night at home, as we ended up having to go to Saskatchewan for Dillon's Grandfathers funeral. :sad1: We left Seth at home with Gramma and went on Wednesday and came back Thursday night. She brought him home this morning around 11, and then Dillon's Dad came and got him and took him on a train ride for the day, so we haven't seen him all day. He brought him home just in time for bed. And he is currently giggling at something in his crib instead of sleeping. :crazy2: It's hard to get mad when he's laughing uncontrollably.

Anyways, now hopefully I get some time to do some updates!

Hey. Good to see you posting again

That building is huge and amazing looking :thumbsup2

Looks like a nice fireworks show

Sounds like Seth has been having some fun

Sorry for Dillon's loss :goodvibes

On our last day, we planned to head to DTD to make all of our souvenir purchases. We had been holding out on most during the week, as we had received a 20% off coupon to be used at the World of Disney store. So we took advantage!

We ended up getting $570 worth of stuff for $456. That's a savings of $114! Not bad I'd say.

With that, I ended up getting: Not one, but 2 Dooney and Bourke Bags, a watch, and a hoodie. Then we bought some stuff for the house and Seth and other family members as well. Dillon ended up getting a pirate flag, and that was all he wanted, so that was it!

Here are some of my goodies:

DSC08767.jpg

I am in love with them all!!

After our big shopping spree, we were hungry and needed to use some more QS points, so we decided to try Wolfgang Pucks.

We walked in and ordered our food at the till, then filled our drink cups we were given, then sat down to wait for the waiter to bring us our meal.

DSC07981.jpg

We both ordered the chicken fingers and fries. They were really yummy.

DSC07983.jpg

And then because dessert was included, we each filled up on that too.

Dillon got the cheesecake:

DSC07984.jpg

And I got the Creme Brulee:

DSC07985.jpg

My dessert was delicious! It was probably a tie between that and the Apple Crumble from Sci-Fi Diner as my top contending desserts for the week. So good!

After lunch, we needed to head back to the hotel to drop all of our goodies off. I wanted to take a few minutes to get some photos of the resort, so Dillon decided to use this time to play in the arcade.

Here are my photos from around Pop Century Resort:

And that concludes my photo tour of the resort. It really was a beautiful place for a value hotel. I really enjoyed our stay there. It was mostly quiet, we had an awesome location for our room, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean. I really cannot complain at all about our stay. It was great!

Next up: Park one of two for the day - Hollywood Studios Take Two!

Wow!! Two Dooney and Burkes? They are so cute!!

The grounds of the hotel are adorable!!

Love pinball!!

I love those purses. They are great!!

Your pics of Pop Century are awesome. We stayed there before and love it there too

Love Love Love the Dooney & Burke bags!!!

I also love all the pictures of the POP. I laugh every time I see a pic of the goofy with the surf board as it reminds me of Paradise Pier Hotel in DL!!

Love the Dooney bags. Can't wait for the Disneyland ones they are releasing. They may already be out, not sure, but they look great! And to think I am usually not a purse person!

And even though I would like to try somewhere new the next time we go to WDW (whenever that will be), Pop would still be on our list. But we'd like to save lots and try for Poly or something. Big dreaming, I know.

For our last day, we had to pick a park that we really wanted to go back to. Since Magic Kingdom was open so late, we decided we'd go to a different park first, then head to MK later on. The park we picked was Hollywood Studios. We loved this park! I know it's not a favourite among lots, but we really liked it.

First thing we did was head to the animation studios where we proceeded to draw Grumpy! We almost got to draw Stitch, but the audience we had sucked, and voted for Grumpy instead. :rolleyes2 Looks like i didn't get any photos of the results, but we both did decent drawings. I wanted to go again, but the line up for the next round was really long.

So we headed over to check out One Man's Dream.

Oops, if I had known I only had one more photo of OMD, I would have just squeezed it in on the last post. :rolleyes1 Silly me.

Next, we decided to check out the Backlot Tour.

DSC08162.jpg

Didn't get too many photos of this first scene, as I was afraid my camera was going to get soaked. And it probably would have!

After that show, we were led through a storage room for props used in many, many movies. Wish I would have been able to take more photos in here!

Then we were lined up to wait for our vehicle that would take us around the rest of the attraction.

Then New York:

Then after our car ride, we were lead into a museum of sorts:

DSC08248.jpg

It was crowded in there, so I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked.

Next up: Toy Story Mania!

Good Park Choice. :thumbsup2

Went into Walt's One man Dream for the first time last trip and loved it :)

Great pics

can't wait for more :coffee:

Caught back up!! More wonderful pics. I loved seeing the memorabilia from the Walt Disney attraction. I love seeing stuff like that!! Can't wait to see if for myself! So how wet did you get on the backlot tour?? I've seen clips & pics of that wave of water coming down....just didn't know how bad it actually gets in the trams.

2 Dooney & Burke bags????? Did I see that right?? Wow~Wow~WOW!!! I love the balloon one!!! :cool1:
