Operation Photopass! First trip to Disney World - TR - COMPLETED 07/16

Thanx Andrea!! Very helpful info!!

I believe I have the Swan & Dolphin on the list to see (time allowing). We're actually eating at a number of the resorts, that I only have about 4 resorts to see on our "off"/Resort day.

What great photos! I really feel like I have an idea of what we are getting into! Thanks! :D

Does the OSU stand for Oregon State University by chance?? Was noticing your signature about flying across the country & we're in Philomath Oregon & doing the same thing Dec 7 to 16!!!

Great bunch of updates :) We are trying Chef Mickey's this next trip for the first time. We will be there for dinner instead of breakfast, but I'm sure it will still be good. I have heard people say the character interactions at CM are not that great for parties without kids. Did they seem okay to you? This trip will just be myself and my adult cousin, but its her first Disney trip ever and I really want the characters to play it up for her.

Stitch spits water at you?? That is awesome! I'll have to figure out where to stand :)

Bummer about the Boardwalk being dull. We walked up from Hollywood Studios one afternoon and it was really really empty, but we were there during a slow season and it was the middle of the day. They say it is hopping at night. But that walk around the lake was so nice. Loved seeing all the Epcot area resorts

Ok, all caught up!

Love the photos of Banff -- so pretty. I just read another TR where they went to Banff, too. So lovely.

Love those hotdogs at Farifax Faire. WE got them this past January and I told Jerry that if you get the pork bbq dog with slaw, that's it's really a meal for two!

Those ToT photos are funny! Love the little kids' expressions.

Great job on Goofy!!

I can spend hours in WoD

The only time to go to the Boardwalk is really at night. They have some cute little street performers that are fun and it feels more like a real boardwalk. During the day, it's dead...rain or sunshine.

Sorry for the absence on here again. I am hoping to be able to get an update in today.

I need to take a moment to vent a little bit....

I've been having a difficult time adjusting to the work life. I just don't have the heart to do it, but don't have the money to not do it. I want to be home with my son. I think the job I have right now is just so demanding, and overwhelming, so it's hard for me to see the bright side of things. I have called in sick today, in hopes of trying to figure stuff out, but it probably doesn't look good since I've only been back to work for a few weeks. I wish I could find something where I could make some money while being at home. Just not sure where to start or look. Or maybe the staffing agency where I found my current job could find me something less demanding, and I'd enjoy it more. I am hoping to figure something out soon, because we don't have the money for me to not be working...

The characters seemed really good for interaction for us. But then again, we just got pictures and a wave mostly and that was really all we wanted. Mickey was great though. He stuck around for a little bit longer and was more playful.

I've heard that the supper isn't as good, but if I had had the time, I would have booked it anyways.

Stitch spitting water was pretty cute. There were a few kids out there playing with him, and it was pretty amusing.

I am not sure what I was expecting at Boardwalk that day. I think I was actually hoping there would be something to do to keep us busy until it got dark, because I wanted to see it lit up at night, and get some photos. But there was just nothing to do to keep us there. ESPN seemed kinda busy and just not what we were feeling like that day.

Most of the QS meals at Disney seemed like a meal for two! Haha. We are just not used to having dessert with every meal. When i used my QS points at Casey's Corner and ordered the Corndog Nuggets, I was expecting just those and a drink. Not fries and a dessert on top of it, lol.

I could spend hours in WoD too. I just love it.

Sorry you are feeling that way

I would definitely give the staffing agency a call. I found some of my best jobs that way

Sorry, to hear this. I would definitely let your staffing agency know what is going on (if you have a relationship like that with them). Jobs are still scarce around here so just tell yourself this is temporary ... like give yourself 3 months or 6 months and then really try to save as much $$ as you can.

Sometimes if you know there is an end in sight, then you can bear the torture more, ya know? Try not to think that you are doing this for the rest of your life .. but you are doing this for 16 weeks or doing it to pay for your next vacation ... and then have your agency work on finding something else. HOpefully they will work with you on that.

Any chance you could take in a child and make a few bucks while still staying home with DS? How about a nanny position? Some will allow you to take your child with you. Positions where you come to the family usually pay a good bit more then them bringing the child to you. There are Nanny agencys that can help you find a family or a full or part time basis.

I'm sorry to hear this Andrea. I hope you can figure out a way to do this.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I am going in tomorrow to talk to the boss about everything. Apparently I have been doing great work, so they don't want to lose me. They are going to see what they can do to make things better. I hope that they can realize that the job I do is normally for 3 people, and it takes longer than a week to train for it all and leave me on my own to flounder in papers! We shall see.

I'll keep you in my thoughts tomorrow. I hope it all goes well.

Thinking of you today. I hope it all works out for you. Theres is NOTHING worse than having a job that makes you feel overwhelmed :(

Thanks everyone for the kind words of support. I did end up leaving there after a couple more days of trying. It was just too much. I went from doing reception for 10 people to more than 300, and there was other work on top of that that was getting thrown at me after only 2 weeks of being there, so it was just way too much.

I am hoping to keep getting temp jobs from the staffing agency, but we will see what happens I guess.

In the mean time, I will post a few photos from Seth's birthday party for those who haven't seen them yet, and then continue on with the TR! :)

Seth's birthday party was a huge success. He was in a good mood all day, and having fun with everyone. At first it seemed like he was going to be too overwhelmed having everyone there looking at him, but he seemed to enjoy all the attention, so it worked out great. He loved his cake, and helped me open most of his gifts before getting bored and crawling away, lol. Anyways, here are a few photos.

The decorations:

The awesome cake made by my Dad's girlfriend:

And the birthday boy enjoying his mini Mickey's. He picked off all the noses one by one until they were gone, and then he dug in to the rest:

It turned out to be a great day!

Today is his actual birthday, and we are just going to take him to Cora for a yummy lunch. :)

Up next we will continue with the TR, finally.

Day 6 was our Animal Kingdom day. We had reservations for breakfast at Tusker House for 10:05, and so we were up and out the door by 9:00am.

I was really looking forward to this day, as we have a few relatives that told us this was their favourite park.

It didn't take us long to get there from the Pop. We ended up being pretty early, so the first thing we did was head over to EE and get FP's before getting in the 5 minute long stand-by line. I was so looking forward to this ride.

Some photos along the walk to EE:

Our first viewing of the Tree of Life:

We thought all the details were really cool.

Finally, we spotted the glorious mountain:

Dillon had asked for the front, so that is what we got. It looks like I was saying something bad, and it looks like the people behind us were doing some posing, lol.

We absolutely loved EE. I thought it was so much fun. We were glad we got our FP's for later.

After our ride it was time to head to Tusker House.

We arrived just on time, and got our picture taken with Donald:

Just after our photo, we were taken right to our table. We ordered our juice and then went and got our food. It was good timing too, cause just as we were getting back, Mickey stopped by for a visit.

This is obviously my second plate, but my first plate wasn't much different. I think instead of the waffle, I had bacon and sausage.

DSC07255.jpg

I didn't get photos of Dillon's plate, as he had devoured it before I thought of it, lol.

Next visitor was Daisy!

Dillon did some flirting with the duck:

And then Goofy started flirting with me:

And Dillon got jealous:

Overall it was a really fun meal. The food was good, and the characters were a lot of fun. We had a blast.

After our meal, we headed off to get FP's for Kilimanjaros Safari Ride. This is one ride I was really looking forward to. Our FP's weren't for later in the afternoon, so we headed back to EE to use our other FP's.

Another couple shots of the Tree on the way:

And a photo pass stop:

To be continued...

*hugs* It's hard going back to work. My son was almost 2 before I could bring myself to go back to work. Even then it was only part time a few days a week. It wasn't until he started school that I was able to go back full time.

Great pictures!! I love AK. It's one of my most favorite parks. I love EE. It's one of my family's favorite rides.

I just had to say that Seth's cake is absolutely adorable! My first birthday cake was also a Mickey Mouse cake. My dad was an awesome cake decorator and I have pictures of it in my baby album.

During our second ride on EE, Dillon decided to take a few photos. Too bad we didn't get the front for this ride:

From about that point on, the ride got a little too fast to take any clear photos, lol. That ride is so much fun! Although Dillon looks like he was enjoying playing with his camera more than the ride this time around:

We ended up getting another FP, but unfortunately, we never got to use it again. Sigh.

Next, we decided to go try and ride Dinosaur.

34415480009.jpg

We thought it was a fun ride, be we enjoy Indiana Jones in Disneyland way better, which is the same kind of ride. Although it would be nice if Indy in DL had the photo opportunity.

After Dinosaur it was time to head back to use our FP's for the Safari ride.

A gator on the way:

I will do our Safari ride on the next post so that it is all together. To be continued...
