Open Port Orleans Already!-Opening OCT 14th & 28th!!!!

I was supposed to stay last year - moved the first reservation then cancelled the 2nd. I've never stayed at POFQ before and was really looking forward to it. I have a reservation at CSR at the end of Sept for the 50th and hoping they open the resort by then.

Im hearing Port Orleans is currently being used for processing / costuming / training new and returning cast members. Plexiglass and all. This could be good depending on how you look at it. Could mean opening once they get the majority of cast back in the near future, or bad because they may use it for new/returning cast for the forseeable future making it the last resort to reopen. Im in the this is good camp since it also means its not sitting dorment and needs to be maintained so its show ready already.

POR is my favorite resort and I have been waiting for it to open. We are planning to go in January and have decided to try a new resort. We've stayed in a few of the deluxe and once for a short stay at CBR. I think we are going to try SSR for the close proximity to Disney Springs. Anyone have any tips for requests for that resort?

With thinks happening so RAPIDLY-Outdoor mask mandate removed/Park capacity increased/return of the College Program/rumored soon return of Epcot Forever/Lifeguard/Housekeeping hirings, etc.,I think everything points to the SOON reopen of the 2 All-Stars and POR!

It looks inevitable IMO.

Lets hope so! I'm desperate to finally get to stay at POFQ!

I just cancelled our GF trip in June just in case we get a surprise announcement about POR. We have BWI scheduled for August in case there isn't one.

Both of the resorts have been recently renovated. We stayed at POR in June, 2018 and rooms have been updated since our stay. I don’t think the royal rooms have been renovated but all other rooms have been.
Do you know to what extent they were updated? Did they change them out like so many of the other resorts.... like Coronado..... carpet removed, vinyl floor in, sinks and new bath fixtures, etc?? We were at POR last in 2017 and the rooms were so worn out..... it was bad! But we absolutely love the theming and grounds and the boat to DS. We are hoping to return to POR or POFQ next year!

Port Orleans is by far the best moderate resort. No question IMO. I could keep going back there every visit with no issues. This year we get to try Deluxe with the boardwalk villas and Polynesian villas. We will see how they compare to our favorite moderate.

The beautiful grounds, Dixie jazz. Boat access to Disney Springs. Five person rooms. Dedicated buses. Could go on and on

This is correct. DD got called back last week and this is where they are doing CM training, processing.

It’s not going to open that soon. The issue isn’t so much covid as it is that Disney has a major staffing issue right now. They don’t have the necessary staff to get it ready to open, let alone operate, at the moment.

I do think they might be among the next currently closed resorts to get a reopening announcement but it’s going to be a few months.

I don't think it was an extensive update, but I do know that they did remove the carpet and replaced it with vinyl flooring. Hopefully someone else will come along and post more details about the updates.

I always enjoyed walking by as he was playing, typically after getting back from one of the parks. Such a fun guy. Born to entertain.

One time my father was waiting for a reservation he and my mother had at Boatwrights, and decided to wait in the lounge. Bob was playing and asked (classic Bob line), "Hey, where ya from?"
My father, ever the wisecracker, said, "Mars."
Bob, completely unshaken, said, "Oh, me too."
Classic Bob.

Yes, they replaced the carpet and did a soft goods update. We last stayed at POR in Nov 2019 and we thought the rooms were great. Much better without carpet, added more USB ports to the room, changed bed frames, curtains, etc. You can find updated room tours on YouTube.

I spoke to a cast member last night to change a reservation, and asked her about Port Orleans opening as we would rather stay there than Coronado. She said Port Orleans will not open in 2021. I realize CM's can be incorrect, however, she seemed pretty confident in her answer.

This makes me sad. We are also booked at Coronado this summer and have been really hoping POR would re-open. We prefer Riverside but would be fine with FQ. It really is too bad. I wish Coronado had the drop down bed. I know CBR does but we do not want to stay there.

There was a Rumor posted this morning on one of the Blogs I go on... thought I’d share.

Is Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts reopening this July?

“Reports were circulating online yesterday about Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter having an opening date change to August 1, 2021. Trip Advisor had made a change to the resorts taking reservations, saying it would allow reservations to be made Aug 1. There has been no official word from Disney.”
