Open Mike Night - Everyone is Welcome

(Slip-sliding)

Well that one took me right back to my sophomore year of high school!

Very nice weather referencing, I might add.

Here's my snowy weather contribution! ;)

Don't Eat The Yellow Snow

Dreamed I was an Eskimo

(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)

Frozen wind began to blow

(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)

Under my boots 'n around my toe

(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)

Frost had bit the ground below

(Boop-boop aiee-ay-ah!)

Was a hundred degrees below zero

(Booh!)

(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)

And my momma cried:

Boo-a-hoo hoo-ooo

And my momma cried:

Nanook-a, no no (no no . . . )

Nanook-a, no no (no no . . . )

Don't be a naughty Eskimo-wo-oh

(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)

Save your money: don't go to the show

Well I turned around an' I said:

HO HO

(Booh!)

Well I turned around an' I said:

HO HO

(Booh!)

Well I turned around an' I said:

HO HO

An' the Northern Lites commenced t' glow

An' she said

(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop . . . )

With a tear in her eye:

WATCH OUT WHERE THE HUSKIES GO

AN' DON'T YOU EAT THAT YELLOW SNOW

WATCH OUT WHERE THE HUSKIES GO

AN' DON'T YOU EAT THAT YELLOW SNOW

BIG TIME drama in Salt Lake last night!!!!
An 18 year old opened fire at Trolly Square downtown and killed 6 prople and wounded several others. Terrible tragedy!!! Unfortunately, the radio show conversations are turning political about concealed weapons and of course the war....:sad2: And the local News doesn't interview "smart" people, if you know what I mean!

I almost went to "Pottery Barn Kids" last night to get a wooden "N" for my daughter's room. PBK is at Trolly Square!

Oh Wendy I thought about you this morning when I saw the report!!!
So sad...
:sad1:

JOE!!!! You are the best Kenny! Thanks for that!

We are working on our Valentines cards for tomarrow! I'm listening/ eavesdropping :listen: to my son's filling out their cards (Nascar and Insects) and they are giving the cards they like best to the kids they like best....and they are both blushing over having to give the girls cards! :cutie: Riley (the one that turns 7 on the 25th) just said "THIS one is for Calli" :flower3: as he tapes his mini-M&M's to the card! Awwwwww!

So, we just got back from our Blue and Gold Banquet for scouts. Dallen got his Bobcat and some belt loops. At one point he had to pin a pin on my shirt (when recieving his Bobcat) and didn't even poke me! It was a Hawaiian meal that I'm over full from.

I wonder if my swee-tart is doing anything for the wife of his dreams:cloud9: ?

Yep. I saw him at BestBuy. He said something about finding a bigscreen TV that only tuned into ESPN with a remote that never needs batteries and never gets lost for his wife as a Valentines Day present. Oh, wait. Maybe it was a surprise.

Guys, go write more Haiku! They're fun to read!

Do funny ones! I did a diet Pepsi one :thumbsup2

Do you let your kids play outside EVER without your being RIGHT there with them? What do you do when they want to play outside and you have other things you need to do inside? Do you think they need to be a certain age before they can play outside? I am very protective of my 7 yr old, and won't let her just roam the neighborhood, and I have a hard time letting her go outside if I'm not right there with her. We live in a small town, seems to be a nice enough neighborhood....but I know things can happen anywhere at anytime.

I'm just wondering...what do you do?

WT, hush!!!

Who told you that? It's a vicious rumor, I say!

Lousy storm this afternoon kept me from buying my weekly wine allowance. But I found a good bottle of red from Christmas, so things are ok.
I think I am educating my boss on my office preferences beyond my wildest dreams. I called him about something at 3:15 this afternoon, and he said he was surprised I was still at work with the storm coming!

No problem, boss, I am out of here momentarily!!
Remember now, I work from home when I get home, not like I get a free pass. But sitting in comfy clothes without bra or shoes with my feet up beats the office any time!

Tomorrow we really have to work on the darn diversity board!!!!!!!!!! OOOOUGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem, ahem, time for another song?

The weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we’ve no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Well, it doesn’t show signs of stopping
But we’ve got some corn for popping
And the lights are turned way down low
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

That was BREATH-taking! You're going to Hollywood! ....other door!

WHY is it snowing SOOOO much? Sheesh!

NO! I know my kids would go with any candy-bar-dangling stranger! I tell them daily to not talk to strangers when they walk to school. They walk in a large group to and from school. An adult must supervise outside. Unfortunately, we have no fence yet (new home) or I'd send them to the back yard to play. I 'm really lucky that my DS17 likes to go outside with them.

Uma, thanks for your thoughts. I just don't understand people who let their kids run all over the neighborhood.

I feel guilty when my dd wants to go outside and I don't. Hmmm...maybe there's a great excuse for building a deck in there somewhere.:rotfl:

I'm playing cards tonight. I'm doing well, so far. Wish me luck.

Only if you share your winnings with all of us.
I am willing to share my 850 million pound sterling random internet winning with all of you, after all!

I would be happy to. Unfortunately hasn't been much winning action going on lately. Will you share in my losses?

Now, here is a question:

I was looking for the Haiku thread, and read across the one about what did you call your grandparents. This has actually been on my mind (no grandkids in sight, must just be wishful thinking).

So I am really torn about this. I don't really want to be a Nanna, Oma, Omi,
meemaw, granny, grandma or any of those. But then calling me Marita would not sound right eihter. Any ideas? I have at least nine months for the answer, hopfully longer. :rotfl:

Marita, glad you found a stash. If you were here, you sure wouldn't have wanted to go out to pick up supplies tonight. It's still VERY windy. We'll see how the roads are tomorrow. I have an important meeting tomorrow or I'd stay home.

People were out in droves tonight for the Michigan/Michigan State basketball game anyway, though.

Uma, how many days 'til your trip?

Moo, I have to admire you for going out to a swimming class in weather like that. Just the thought makes me shiver.

Oh, I found out today that my old protegee got another promotion. Wooo Hoooty for her! She is one of those people that you really care about because they have drive and talent and personality. A girl from France (Claire). She always made me think of this song: (since people are singing tonight anyway)...

How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Maria?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
But how do you make her stay
And listen to all you say
How do you keep a wave upon the sand

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?

I would be happy to. Unfortunately hasn't been much winning action going on lately. Will you share in my losses?
