Open letter to Disney concerning new TSA full body scan.

Anybody that disagrees with you will tell you not to fly. That's the only solution that they can come up with. /QUOTE]

What other solution can you come up with that works with the system as it is now? Do you think going to the airport and refusing to be either scanned or patted down will get you on the plane?

This is the way the system is going to work as of now. This is not something the TSA agents have any say in. It is not like going to a store and getting them to accept an old return. You can't get on the plane because you ask nicely, or look to be a good person.

No one has told you to not complain. But you need to complain to the right people in order for it to do any good.

Not sure if this is the correct place for this or not.

My family & I got back from Disney (FL) last month and we did not have to go thru thr full body scan machines at either midway or orlando. However it appears that the machines will begin to see more use in more airports. As such the growing concern is

1) your image or that of your family being stored and/or uploaded to the web
2) the radiation dosage that you are exposed to each time you take a "picture"
3) the enchanced pat-down that occurs should you opt-out (for now) of the full body scan.

The link above goes to a letter someone wrote to disney regarding this issue and not knowing how to "get to" disney for a vacation.

Waste of time and misdirected.

Disney has no control on government regulations. Write your congressman - not that it would do any good - or choose not to fly.

Yes, I agree the government oversteps and yes, I believe much of what the TSA does is a waste of time and for show and not making anyone any safer, but this is the US and the rule is
put up and shut up.

Also, the letter's annoying sanctamonious tone and detail will make any executive's assistant throw it away.

Umm...the OP didn't write the letter. He/she just copied it from elsewhere (at the link provided). The link, by the way, is from an "anti-state, anti-war, pro-market" website.

To those of you that can think of nothing better to say over and over than "If you don't like it stop flying". Its ok for people to oppose laws and still comply with them. I am sure there are some laws or policies at work that you don't agree with, but you still obey the rules. I doubt anybody is going to stop flying, because of this. That does not mean they cannot oppose it or fight to have it changed. We really don't wan't to encourage people not to fly. The economy is bad enough. Don't you think. I wish things were as simplistic as you make them out to be.

I agree. It's unfortunate in this country it has come to this, but you can't blame someone for trying.

Very well said.

Not flying is a valid option. I'm sure Greyhound would love to have more business! And no one has told you to not oppose what you think is right. The problems started when people decided to insult those people who didn't agree with their point of view.

You can't demand someone respect your point of view while refusing to respect theirs in return.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering why the OP was so upset, when they handn't had to deal with the scan yet.

Sorry, How did I insult you. There was absolutely nothng insulting in that post nor was it directed at you. I respect your opinion you don't think people that oppose the scanners should fly. I was merely pointing out that you can oppose them and still fly. I oppose exercise, but I go to the gym everyday. I oppose driving 65, but I still obey the law. I was not demanding you respect my point of view. I was just giving it. I don't agree with your don't fly opinion. I'm sorry if you are insulted by that. What exactly did I say in that post that insulted you. I wan't everybody to fly my dh's job depends on it. I just like to see a better solution to security than making everybody go through these xray machines or be subjected to pat downs. Is that so wrong.

Your right disney has no control of the gov it not that disney dosent care but nothing they can do. Just to let every one know the screeners that see the images or in a room and they cant see your face so there no way they will know who is the one getting screened. If you dont want your kid to go through the screener then they will have to go through tougher screening. It just like getting an mri but safer and quicker but they wont see your face or know who you are all the screener see is they body that it no names and no faces.

I don't see the point of sending this to Disney, they have nothing to do with it and would not have any "pull" to do anything about it.

Not flying might be a valid option for you, but really for a lot of the rest of us it isn't viable at all.

The posts here being disrespectful in any way of others point of view are the posts defending the existing government intrusions on persons with a contract to fly. You can give the government such control over your life and rights, but don't expect my to do the same.

I think she was referring to me on another thread. I have been told to have my dh find a new job,to quit flying, been told my opinions don't count because only my dh works for an airline and I don't, I have been accused of wanting people to die(that was my favorite). I will admit I got a little sarcastic and snarky. I have decided not to let my buttons get pushed so easily and temper my sarcasm. Some people are good at being disrespectful without being out right insulting. You just can't let them get to you.

Saying those who oppose those who oppose the scan should move to Cuba is being disrespectful. Saying your post will be deleted if the Mods don't like it is being disrespectful. And just undermines any valid point you (in general) may be making.

PrincessPeach I never stated you were being insulting to me. The comments I am making here only are about the topic as being discussed here.

I never said people that oppose the scan should move to Cuba where did you read that into it. I said people that oppose people that oppose the government should move to cuba because there thats not allowed. It was a joke toungue in cheek sort of thing. I love this country because I can oppose the government. We are never going to agree I don't see the point of continuing this argument, but please don't twist my words. I understand you don't like me,but why do you have to continue to attack. Like I said before just let it go.Also when did I say anything about the mods in this thread?

I'm not trying to attack you, I thought we were having a discussion. I thought people who didn't agree could still do that.

Sorry, but I was not getting your comments as being tounge-in-cheek. But then it is hard to read tone on a message board. It wasn't meant to twist your words.

Sorry if it offends you to have a snapshot taken of your general body image (which looks nothing like a nudie pic)...

Have you actually looked at the examples given on the TSA pages?

Examples which, of course, shouldn't exist, since they say they CANNOT send the images or keep the images AT ALL. ["The image cannot be stored, transmitted or printed, and is deleted immediately once viewed."] But that's beside the point.

They might not be "exciting" to the average person, but they CERTAINLY are nude pictures.

Yes I have. And while they do show a body image, they are not, as I said "nudie" pics. Meaning show your naked body in every detail and flesh colored porno level pics. To me, there is a difference. It is not like someone is whipping out a camera, stripping my clothes off, and taking a shot.

I guess its ok for people to tell you if you disagree with government to leave the country because thats your stance, but its not ok for me to make a joke about people who oppose opposition to move to Cuba a communist country. This country was founded on opposition. How you read people that agree with scanners should move to Cuba into that I don't know.

Train, bus, car, rent a plane, plenty of other options if you can't live with the current regulations. Rather than write a letter to disney, write your Congressman, or even better run for office and be a force for change.
