Oops, We Forgot to Leave Our Weather at Home! A Fantastic Festival of the Arts 2025 TR! (RL Update 5/27!!)

Sorry to hear about your mom's foot. Hopefully no surgery, here's to a speedy recovery.

There is a sign on the WL dock that lists the run times for the resort boat. I think it is 3:30pm - 11pm. Maybe someone will post the picture to be sure.
Ah, good to know. I'll look for that, thanks!
I hope your mom's foot is okay and she doesn't need surgery. This is a tough time to find out, since it is so close to your trip.
Thank you! Yeah, not ideal timing, but it is what it is. We'll still have fun!

Quick update....my mom doesn't need surgery!!!! :cool1: She just got back from the doctor and apparently he's a huge Disney fan as well and gave her the best news about the surgery! On top of that, he even said she can just wear her sneakers around the parks as long as her foot doesn't hurt, but once it starts to hurt, I need to run to get her a wheelchair. This is such great news, I'm so happy!

That's better than I expected it to be. :)

Love your Mom Trips SO much. It's wonderful you travel so much because that means more Trip Reports. Yay!

So glad mom's foot doesn't need surgery. I broke 2 ankle bones about a month before a much needed Disney trip and insisted on only a boot. "Nope!" Absolute surgery with pins, screws & a plate.
That trip with a co-worker this time (and much wanted & needed) had to be cancelled. I'm bawling my eyes eyes when I called (at the time) Caribbean Beach Resort. Then I'm crying when I called to cancel the airline. So I was thrilled to hear your trip was still on and mom seems OK to play it by ear. Whew!

Loved the Germany shirt as I love "Ringer" shirts in general. So neat looking.

Loved your sweet animal babies becoming Disney-fied.

Hope your entire trip is fabulous. I leave next Saturday and no matter how many insane times I've gone, I still get excited & can't wait. Swan first night and BWV all week/me and adult daughter.

Great news! You might want to consider a scooter though. We started renting one for my mom from Gold's in 2021 and they're lovely to work with and having the scooter has been a lifesaver for our trips.

Oh my goodness, that's horrible, I would have cried too!

Aren't they so cool? I may need to get a different country one this trip!

Thanks! This is such a cool technology!

Thank you! It looks like our trips may overlap a bit, we'll be down a few days after you. If you see us please feel free to say hi! Hope you have an amazing trip! Didn't we have overlapping trips in January or September too?

I'm so relieved, it really is the best news! I wish I could convince my mom to use a scooter, but she refuses, she's afraid she'll run people over, which to be fair she probably would, but still would be easier than a manual wheelchair. :rotfl:

Day 5, Part 4: Flying Fish!

We last left off heading out of Epcot to take a break before dinner.

I spent some time enjoying the sunny balcony while my mom napped before getting ready for our dinner.

We headed out of the room around 6:30, our reservations were at 6:45, but we didn’t have far to go. We made our way out to the Boardwalk and over to the Flying Fish! We love this place, it has become one of our regulars over the past few years.

We got checked in and had a bit of a wait before being brought to our table, maybe 15-20 minutes. We ended up at the very back of the restaurant in a booth, right by the windows, it was a great seat!

After settling in we perused the menus and decided on a bottle of wine to split, we ended up getting the petit syrah from Stags Leap again, we really love this wine.

While looking at the menus the table next us ended up sending back their food saying it was just not good. We didn’t think much of this since these things happen, but maybe we should have.

For dinner I ordered the NY strip per usual, it is one of my favorite steaks on property! My mom got the seafood trofie, which she had gotten two trips prior and loved so was excited to have it again.

It took a long time for the food to come out. The place was slammed this night, so it looked like things were moving a bit slower than normal. We theorized that since Epcot was such a madhouse that day, a lot of people decided to try to get food nearby instead of wait in the crazy food booth lines and ended up at the Flying Fish. While we were waiting for our table, almost every person coming in was a walk-in without a reservation.

Our food finally did come out and, well, it was a bit disappointing this time around. The steak was a super fatty piece, so not ideal, but these things happen. Then my moms dish only had like a teaspoon of the sauce. At first she thought they forgot it, but after removing a bunch of the shells she saw the tiniest of dabs on the bottom.

Here is the seafood trofie from the previous time we had it, you can see the big difference in sauce!

We were starting to understand why the table next to us sent back their food. ::yes::

The food wasn’t horrible, just not at the quality we had come to expect from the Flying Fish.

Since it was our last night there, we decided to splurge this evening and get some dessert. I have zero idea what we ordered, nothing on the current menu sounds like what we got, and I totally forgot to write it down while there. Oops! This dessert though was DELICIOUS! Thank you pastry chef for redeeming dinner!

I also got a glass of bourbon to enjoy with dessert, I ordered a Knob Creek, which is one of my favorites, and the server mentioned they had the special Disney one that is only available in Disney, so of course I had to try it. Spoiler, it tasted exactly the same as the regular Knob Creek. :rotfl:

Overall, not the best dinner there, but they can’t always be perfect. We were thinking that maybe they were overwhelmed by the number of walk-ins that evening and perhaps were running low on ingredients so couldn’t give the normal portions of some items like the sauce in my moms dish. Oh well, at least the dessert was amazing!

After finishing up we took some pictures outside before heading back upstairs to pack up and get ready for the saddest day of the trip.

I had to take a picture of my moms stash of utensils she collected during the trip. I don't know why, but every time we went to a store that had utensils she grabbed some just in case.... :rotfl2:

Also, I love this picture of Pluto in the room!

Next up: See Ya Real Soon!

The food wasn’t horrible, just not at the quality we had come to expect from the Flying Fish.
We were very disappointed with our dinner at Flying Fish. I had heard nothing but good things about this restaurant, so I was anxious to try it. My husband was not impressed with his steak. And I did not like the spice they used in my lobster bisque. I have had many soups from all kinds of places, including Bar Harbor, Maine, but none of them tasted like the lobster bisque served here. We won't be back.

So happy to hear that your mom doesn't need surgery!!! Love the YC curtains and I must get a picture of my dog Disneyfied -- so cute! Argh, I'm so sorry to hear Flying Fish wasn't up to par that night. It's one of my favorites as well. What a disappointment. That picture of Pluto (he's my fave) is adorable. I wish all resorts had the kiosk to order the artwork like Riviera does.

Flying Fish is always a must for our trips. We love Izi the Waiter. We first met him when he was working at Artist Point. Then during Covid he moved to the Flying fish. He always makes our trip special. The last 2 times we were there (the last one in Jan) he comes in but then ends up going home. Back in January they put us in the back room at the back of the restaurant. One would think that would be great, but it wasn't. It was very loud and the tables too close to each other. The food was sub par. Not like the quality we were used to. The waitress was not very attentive to us, but she was to the larger parties. We are heading down next week, and sadly we are skipping Flying fish

Oh no! That's unfortunate. Prior to this past trip we've had great experiences there, it was such a huge difference in quality this last time though, we were shocked!
