oooo Citizen Kane is on !

have you ever watched Citizen kane?
for many years I put off watching some /dumb/ black & white movie.

was I ever wrong. I first seriously watched it about 10 years ago. its NOT the plot/story line that is what makes it GREAT, its the way it was filmed.
you really have to watch it carefully to appreciate it. the way the camera is placed, the way the shadows & well just the whole composition of it, is just outstanding.

you really should watch it if you haven;t.
I have a friend who refuses to watch any black & white movies... man they are missing a LOT.

what other B&W movies do you like?

When I was 19 my then BF took me to see Raging Bull. I said, "What is this crap?" "Why isn't it in color?" He just told me to watch the movie.
Oh yeah...best movie ever and I hate boxing!

Orson Welles is amazing.

Faves? Nosferatu, Wiz of Oz, Miracle on 34th St before Ted Turner got to it!

I watched in in college, too, in a film class- "the best movie of all time". We also watched the worst movie of all time- Plan 9 From Outer Space. It is in b&w and is sooo bad it is good.

LOVE Casablanca. The dialogue is great - who knew it was a comedy?

I'm not a big fan of Citizen Kane, but I do love black and white movies. I love watching Now, Voyager, Casablanca, Rebecca, For Me and My Gal, Gaslight, A Night at the Opera, Captains Courageous, Babes on Broadway, The Road to Morocco, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Skeffington.......the list goes on and on.

I fell asleep with the TV on last night, and when I woke up Citizen Kane was already on. I have never seen it, and I actually own it on DVD. I have been meaning to watch what critics claim is the best movie of all time, but I still haven't watched it. I stopped watching it last night after a few minutes, because I want to watch the whole thing.

Yes...Rosebud. I know "who's" name that is...but I still don't know the significance!

I can't watch ANY movie that has been colorized. It just doesn't seem right.
