Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party 2024

And if they were really really worried about it, they could offer something like Lightning Lane Plus or whatever the new name is for free for those days in DCA as an incentive to get people in the part still even though it has reduced hours. Or open an hour or two early.
I keep trying to walk myself away from this, but it's frustrating.

Any change you make like that has consequences beyond what you're thinking.

I don't know if I need to say more than this: if those ideas worked, they would already be doing that on OBB days. Closing at 6pm is already an issue.

In a run-on paragraph: People hate that they close the park at 6pm for OBB, and this would impact many more people than it already does. Fridays and Saturdays during the Halloween season are some of the busiest days of the year. You'd be telling all of those park-goers that they have to pay full price and not get to see World of Color. You'd be losing the revenue for LLs, and I'm not sure how valuable free LLs would be - if they still somehow managed to sell out the park, the LL lines would be ridiculous. And, all the way around, they would have to do special promotions to tell everyone they were getting free LLs.

I mean, I get that people want Fridays and Saturdays so they can take their kids. But that's why they've always positioned this as an adult-friendly party. They're trying to do it on nights that have less impact on day guests.

There's no question that those nights would be popular - but that's not really the issue.

My home Park is wdw so if this question is silly please let me know. How do I like a friend on disneylands site? I purchased for my family and another and we most likely will not be arriving together so I wanted to ‘be friends’ so she can see the tickets but I don’t see that option.

Can I transfer her tickets?

If your “limited availability” date shows sold out on the calendar, refresh the screen. The availability can change (if it is not a “sold out” date on the list above). Sometimes it would error at the payment screen and say unavailable, but then I would go back, and then it would sometimes be available again on the calendar and then let me go through to the payment and entering the names. So keep trying for those “limited availability” dates if you want that date, even if the date appears “sold out” on the calendar when you are trying to pick your dates! Don’t give up the refresh unless/until your date makes the “sold out” on the purple page!

I am not sure how to do that in the app. But you can screen shot the ticket and send her the image, as in years past, they just scan the bar code of the ticket.

Those features don't exist at DLR. No user profiles - just tickets. (Unlike WDW, tickets can live in multiple accounts at DLR.) One option - you can email her the ticket and she can add it to the app herself.

Perfect I’ll just have her add them to her account! Thank you both

They just need the barcode/ticket number to link it to their account. In the app when you select my tickets/passes there a plus (+) symbol. They can enter the number under the barcode there.

The tickets can be linked in both of your accounts at the same time.

Just glad disney worked out their kinks from the previous couple of years. Reminds of the first time we went in 2017 for Mickey's Halloween Party. I got home from work, logged in and got tickets no problem. Since they moved it to DCA it has been increasingly more difficult of a process.

I was on the queue page as of 8:30 this morning and started refreshing every 30 seconds or so after 8:45am. Thankfully I got in and out in less than hour and was able to secure my 7 tickets for Halloween! So stoked, it will be the first visit for my twin niece & nephew. They'll only be 1 so at least they're free :p

Not normal...I think all the tickets sold out in 4 hours last year...
Last year, they also had that issue early on where (seemingly) a bunch of reseller bots managed to evade the queue and make a bunch of purchases before most anyone else could. (They eventually cancelled a bunch of those, but never acknowledged how many tickets were involved.)

You are one of my favorite people on these boards for always being so level-headed and thinking these things through. I get a lot of people have an instinct to be like, "This thing is inconvenient for ME and I would like it to be more convenient for ME and here's how I would fix it for ME." And not take in to account how it would affect other guests, cast members and the parks themselves. But you always think bigger picture and I'm glad for that.

It's unfortunate that the OBB schedule doesn't work for everyone. Personally, I'm not a local so OBB is the ONLY After Dark event I can ever go to because I work M-F and I can easily take a Monday off to go to a Sunday event. But the ones that are Tuesdays and Thursdays only? Not so easy, especially when I don't want to have to burn even more time off or vacation days for it. But I don't expect Disneyland to change it for those of us who are in that position, not when there are plenty of people who are happy to go on any night of the week and take my spot. They make money off the parties, absolutely, but they make a LOT more money keeping both parks open on Fridays and Saturday nights to the general public.

So is there no sales tax on OBB or tickets in general at Disneyland? We are east coasters and always pay Florida sales tax but I noticed they didn't charge us sales tax on the OBB tickets we bought today.

Well being in Australia, and getting up at 1:45am and then have to wait maybe hours, didn’t appeal to me at all. I then decided that I’d try as soon as I woke up at 6am.
We are going the first week of September and there was only one party on Tuesday 3rd September, that I could try for. Thank goodness that when I woke up, I was able to get tickets without any issues. Yay 😁

California doesn't charge sales tax on entertainment (theme parks, movie tickets, etc).

If a site ever tries to charge you sales tax for DLR tickets, they're either charging you incorrectly or trying to hide a service fee (the line will often say "taxes and fees" and not separate them out so you think they're taxes).
