Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party 2024

I’m a little confused by this-capacity is capacity regardless of how people access it. If they can fit a (made up number) of 20,000 a day and they give out 20k VQs or let 20k people into a standby, it’s same number of people.
The only nudge that I'd have is the difference of behavior. Under normal circumstances, a lot of folks who don't have G+ might avoid riding it because they don't want to wait in a 60-90-minute line on busier days. Those people might jump in a VQ if the option is there, which would (potentially) increase the potential daily audience for the attraction. (You'd lose the people who would be trying to ride twice, but I'd suspect that's a smaller pool of people.)

At the same time, with the VQ, there are people who won't ride it all because they don't want to and/or don't want to deal with the VQ (or the timing doesn't work), so all 50,000 spots might not get taken.

That’s true but forcing us through hoops to access it and then not having enough to go around for everyone bears the disappointment. This holds true for HM and OBB.

…and most things DL for me, as not visited since before covid. I really liked the Maxpass once i figured it. The FP system before that even better as you could stack them lol

Find it interesting how they haven’t standardized the parks operations/protocols. In most ways I’d say that’s a very good thing as DL is very special, just not in this:headache:. I’m sure it’s the same sort of apprehension in general for those who have DL as their home park coming to WDW, if not worse.

Glad the DL board folk are being so patient with us interlopers lol. :thumbsup2

I'm actually a former longtime WDW AP (now with DLR as my home park), and I think the hoops at WDW are way, way more painful than at DLR. That might be why I'm pushing back on AustinTink a little - DLR just breathes differently. (I can't imagine that people will get up at 7am for HMH like they do for Tron or Guardians. Honestly, I hope they'll only allow people to join the HMH VQ from inside the park.)

Having said that, I'll make an exception for OBB tickets - that situation is an absolute mess, lol.

Will be interesting to see how quick tickets sell out tomorrow compared to last year . Does anyone remember how quick they sold out last year for annual ticket holders

There were issues last year so Disney shut down magic key early sales early, and never did a second round of those. There were also issues with general sale so they shut that down early and didn't second round of general sales, but they won't do that again this year. Just assume presales will sell out the day they go on sale.

Tomorrow will probably be different because it's just Inspire. Last year, it was all MK, and was kind of a mess. I think the MK allotment sold out by like 5pm. The whole thing was such a weird disaster- I doubt there were any lessons to learn for this year.

I think the only piece of advice overall - use as many devices and windows as you can. The more queues you can get into, the more likely you'll get one that will get you tickets.

Someone asked earlier - last year, the first sellouts in the General on-sale were Thursdays and Sundays in late September and early October - more the "cheaper" dates (sorta). Kind of random:

I can't remember for sure, but I think we eventually surmised last year that WDW folks are away from home and more interested in doing the party for Halloween, while local DLR folks would rather do actual Halloween locally and use OBB as a complement.

Yes, I agree DLR has always felt like the easier, more relaxed of the two but this OBB thing and now HM has me in a panic. I miss the old days but I guess I’m just an old fart.

Last year's ticket situation was so bad, I fully gave up on it. I saw my date sell out, and figured I'd just go over to DL during the party. But I got in later, and kept bouncing the page, and, for a split second, my date showed up. I think I got the absolute last ticket for that night (which was mid-September).

Btw - for the WDW folks who haven't done this before - it's not like the MK parties at all. If you're lucky, you might get short(er) ride times, but I wouldn't do it for that. The park last year was pretty packed during the party I went to.

If you're doing OBB as part of a longer trip (and have park hoppers) - I'd suggest going to DCA after 3pm and getting your wristband from inside the park. I did that and spent the crossover time at DL, then went back into DCA just before 6pm (using the day ticket gates to avoid the OBB gate lines).

I focused on just doing party stuff during the party time. I actually did Villains' Grove during the first parade, when it had a shorter line.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. (Especially Judge Doom - I caught him at exactly the right time, and he was fantastic.) But it's definitely more chaotic than a WDW party.

Tron and Guardians both have traditional VQ and an ILL option. In my opinion that’s the best scenario. VQ for those that don’t want to pay and ILL for those that do. We always ended up purchasing ILLs because VQ were so hard to get. Some days we were lucky and other days we had our ILL to fall back on.

Maybe it’s possible they will have and ILL option for HM but just have not announced it yet.
Isn’t the reason they can’t do both ILL$ and VQ is because they don’t have a physical place to put the lines (while construction is ongoing)?

What are ride wait times like during OBB? Does Genie+ still apply during that time or is it all standby? Thanks! Totally new to OBB and hoping for tickets either Aug 27 or 29.

Will they be available thru the DL app as well?
Last year, I think the app just pushed people to the website. But, again, it was such a bizarre situation. (There was a weird glitch that allowed some people to bypass the queue by clicking through the app. But I feel like that's unlikely to happen again.)

Btw - this was about an hour after that last pic (general on-sale):

Recall that 10/8 last year was the Sunday party on the weekend of Indigenous People’s Day weekend. We come in from Texas, and that is the only 3 day weekend our kids had from school during the party months. So for me, that was the only date we could go. For others who were local, they may have had the following Monday off work or school due to the holiday, so it was a “good” Sunday to go to OBB and stay out later than usual for a Sunday night.

SB only. No G+ other than during the mix-in from 3-6pm last year. Ride times are lower than during a regular day but are not just walk on. RSR kept 30-45 minutes all night the last 2 years, in my recollection.

No G+ - all standby.

It can really vary, even throughout the night. When the party starts, there are still day guests in line, so the lines aren't really short at first. During the first parade, things lighten up a bit.

But, like, for me, RSR was down for a lot of the night, which threw the nearby lines, including Guardians.
