I need a little info from someone re: flying into a smaller airport than LAX, which we have used for the past two visits. Is Ontario airport easily accessible to the interstates? We are staying in El Segundo ( I know, that is VERY close to LAX, but my hubby wants to arrive somewhere less crowded) and I'd like to think it would be easy enough to get from Ontario to El Segundo, assuming we pick the least crowded part of the day. I bet Long Beach's airport would be a lot closer, but right now, there's a sale from Atlanta to Ontario, so I'm researching it....

Ontarios is down a 100 yard road to I-10. It very simple to get on the freeway. There won't be any problem. But if you are arriving or departing anywhere near rush hour you will have 25 or 30 miles of freeway to drive.

El Segundo borders LAX. You will have to drive the same surface streets from LAX to your destination as you would after exiting the freeway from Ontario.

LAX would be your best bet. Do not do LB - traffic on the 405 is horrendous going north to El Segundo - frankly the 405 is bad at any time

Yes, we knew that LAX is right at El Segundo, but he still wants to try a smaller airport. If not LGB, then what about John Wayne?

The drive from Ontario to El Segundo is a little over 50 miles.
Depending on the time of day you’re looking at 1 hour to 2 hours.
Anytime between 6AM and 10AM and 3PM and 7PM will be “rush hour”.

The drive from Santa Ana to El Segundo is a little under 50 miles
along a very busy highway (the 405) I’d say you are looking at
roughly the same amount of time - between 1 and 2 hours depending
on the time of day.

Ok, thanks..I guess I will try and convince him that we need to stick with LAX.
