I have a reservation at the Holiday Inn Sunspree for our trip to Disney. Lately I have been reading some negative reviews about this hotel and I was wondering if anyone had stayed here recenty and if so what you thought of this property. I have priced staying onsite at the Carribean Beach Resort, but the rate that they quoted me was $133.00 per night, which is more than what we have budgeted for. Does anybody have any kind of discount codes that can be used for Disney resorts? Our dates are 2/8/04 - 2/13/04.

Any information on either of these would be very helpful to me.
Thanks

Do you or anyone you are travelling with have an AP? On Mousesavers.com there is a code for AP holders that is valid 1/1/04 - 2/11/04. As long as you check in on or before 2/11 the discount would apply to your stay. If you don't have an AP you might want to consider one - these discounts are pretty good!

If you can't get any codes or a good rate, would you be willing to stay at a value resort? I've never stayed there. However I've read some + things about them. I would stay at a value resort (if that is all I had in my budget) rather than going offsite. Staying onsite is part of the Disney magic and total experience.

BUT - whenever we go down for a vacation, we always stay at the Radisson Resort Parkway on the first night. A bit of a tradition I guess, but the kids love the huge pool, and the grounds have, very much, a resort type atmosphere - gardens, flowers, etc.

Then, the next morning, we get up have brunch, take the much anticipated ride to a Disney Resort for the rest of our stay...

Doing it again in April!

Sorry but I haven't stayed at HISunspree. I have stayed offsite at other places in the past (some which have had not so hot reviews). However, I have always had a great time no matter where I was in Orlando. If your looking for an alternative, I would tell you to try a value resort as well. Now that Pop Century is open and brand new, you may want to stay there and save a bit of money as well as being on Disney property. Another alternative is to bid on priceline (WDW vicinity) for a hotel room. Check out a site called biddingfortravel.com. I have bid on hotel rooms through Priceline (after studying the bidding site) and won both the Wyndham and Hilton in DTD for under $75 per night. DTD is a great area as you sort of get to leave the Disneyness behind while still being on Disney property. You also get to use the Disney transportation system (right across the street from the hotels) or the hotel transportation. Either way is a pretty win win situation no matter which way you go.

I would concur with staying on-site at a value rather than off-site. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Family Suites, but not the SunSpree. I also have not heard good review about the SunSpree, so I can't tell you what to expect. I do know that we have driven by it (I think it's the one I'm picturing) & it looked rather old.

I would call & ask about special rates or promotions that are going on right now & trying to change to a value resort rather than stay off-site. JMO. Good luck! :D
