"Only Heaven Is Better than Disney World": Live TR 8/24

I hate that your trip is ending so soon. But I can see you had a great time ... even with blistered feet, upset tummy and light headedness.

I know it is too late for this trip, but might benefit a future trip or some of your TR fans: did you know you can get free water in all the parks? If you just go to a vendor who serves fountain drinks and ask for a "cup of water," they will give you a full-size cup of ice water for free. Some places serve it in small cups, but most are the medium size. Also, many people say the water tastes nasty. I have only found one place where it does taste nasty: Casey's at MK. Other than that, it isn't too bad ... especially when you compare the price of $2.50 per bottle. That's a huge savings for most of us, especially me since I can go through three-four bottles in a day.

Enjoy your last day and I look forward to reading all about it.

I actually had heard that, but we always just ended up using snack credits for the waters anyway. I'll have to remember it in the future, especially if we don't get the dining plan and have all those snack credits to use up.

Thank you so much for your wonderful TR. I feel like I am right there with you! (Especially since you are staying at our favorite resort--The Polynesian :cloud9:!!--sigh) Our trip this year was postponed due to DD's surgery, so I have been living vicariously through Jane's & now your trip report until we can get there next year (fingers crossed).

enjoy your last day at WDW and have a safe trip home. Really enjoyed your TR, thanks so much for taking the time to do it...it was awesome :thumbsup2

We tried to get a lot in, but we also tried to get an hour of rest at least once every afternoon. We didn't do that last year, and we could have used it!

I have really enjoyed reading about your trip and looking at the GREAT PICS! I will be taking my family the first week of November and my little girl has enjoyed following your adventure. It is people like you who keep the rest of us motivated and captivated!:thumbsup2

After our nap, we headed back to the Magic Kingdom for dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table with the princesses.

There seemed to be a little bit of a backup, and we probably waited at least 20 minutes to be seated. As I was sitting there waiting, at least five people must have come up to the podium trying to get reservations for their parties. The woman had to keep explaining that they were all booked up, and that reservations had to be made ahead of time. That must get really old for her after awhile. One woman complained, "But I have been calling every morning since I got here, and they keep telling me there's nothing available." Guess you should have made your reservations on the 180 day mark like I did, lady! (I hate to complain, but it kind of gets on my nerves when people start giving the cast members a hard time because they failed to plan ahead...this wasn't the case with the lady I mentioned above, but it was with some of the others.) My absolute favorite comment was when someone came up and said she was told she could use her quick service credits there! :rotfl: I kid you not; this really happened! The cast member just had to keep a straight face and tell her she was mistaken.

After a while, we were finally seated at a table with a pretty window view, and we placed our orders.

For our appetizers, I got the salmon and crab cake, and my fiancé got the cheese plate. They also gave us some bread while we were waiting for our appetizers.

My fiancé really enjoyed his cheese plate. I thought my crab cake was good, but it still couldn't beat the ones from Hollywood Brown Derby or 50s PTC.

While we were waiting on our entrees, they brought us a plastic sword and wand like they give to all the kids. They did the last year too, but they changed the type of wand they give out. Personally, I like this new one better. It's much more girly.

For our entrees, my fiancé got the lamb chops, and I got the Cornish hen. Mine was supposed to come with macaroni and cheese, which I hate, so I asked to substitute the potato and asparagus that came with another meal.

Just like last year, everything was very tasty.

For dessert, we both ordered the chocolate mousse, so I only took one picture. This was good--not too heavy, but just right!

Just after desert, the princesses started visiting our table. We saw Snow White first, followed by Belle, Aurora, and Ariel. I got pictures with all of them, but figured I'd just pick the one that turned out best to post.

After dinner, we headed over to Liberty Square to ride the Haunted Mansion, which was a walk-on.

Since we were already in Liberty Square, we visited the Christmas shop there to see if we could find the ornaments we wanted at DTD. Unfortunately, they only had one of the two we wanted, but luckily, they were able to personalize it within a half an hour.

By the time we were done there, it was about 8:10, so we headed up towards the front of the park to see if we could find a good spot to watch Wishes.

Up next: Wishes pictures!

Sigh... I'm sad WITH you that it's time for you to leave! Sad! But, it makes me happy to know I'll be back-- this time not vicariously through you though, but ACTUALLY there... in just over a month! Thanks for putting us all in your pocket and being the "Cinderella Mice" in your pocket.
Thanks!

Thanks again for this report- it has been fantastic!

Have a good trip home and don't be too sad leaving!

When we walked up to the hub, people were camped out all over the place, waiting for Wishes to start. The other day, a photopass photographer had suggested that we watch it from the rose garden because the view was very good and Tinkerbell flies right over it. We decided to check if there were any seats left there--and no one at all was waiting there yet, even though it was quarter after eight and many other spots nearby were packed. Little by little, other people started to trickle into the garden area, but it never became packed. I highly recommend checking this area out if it's getting close to fireworks and you don't have a good place to sit. I passed the time until Wishes started working on my trip report from yesterday.

After awhile, the lights dimmed and Jiminy Cricket's voice came booming over the loudspeaker. I was faced with a dilemma; I kind of just wanted to watch Wishes, but at the same time I also wanted to take some pictures. I decided to do something in between. I watched Wishes normally (not through the camera) and stuck out my hand and clicked away to see if I could get any decent shots without really trying. Some were OK, but a lot were blurry.

Wish on a star

The grand finale

92975651.jpg

After Wishes, it was EMH, so we decided to take advantage of them for our first time ever :). We rode Buzz Lightyear with a five minute wait. My fiancé beat me mercilessly this time because I couldn't remember the secret trick I had learned about on the DIS before for scoring lots of points!

Next, we rode Space Mountain. The wait was posted as 30 minutes, but we really only waited about 15. When we got off, my stomach kind of felt like it was in knots (sometimes roller coasters do that to me; sometimes they don't ), so we got something to drink and a little snack at Cosmic Ray's to settle it down. We were going to visit Frontierland next, but my feet were getting to the point where I didn't know if I'd make it to midnight! Not even my blisters, either, just good old-fashioned, been-on-my-feet-too-long hurting. I suggested that I meet my fiancé back at the resort so that he could go on some more rides, but he didn't want to stay without me. I managed to drag my sore little feet back to the resort monorail, and I thought we were in luck because there was one there waiting for us. Not so lucky actually. We must have waited 10 minutes in the monorail before we even started moving, and when we did started moving, it was inching along on the track and stopped dead on the track two times before even reaching the Contemporary. I have no idea what was going on, but we eventually made it back to the TTC...a half an hour or so later. I limped all the way back to the room and took a hot bath to soak my feet before going to bed.

That brings me up to today--our last day at Disney :( I will try to post updates from today at the airport, but my phone is running low on batteries...so if I don't post that's why. If I don't get something up by nine, it probably won't be up until tomorrow morning as our flight doesn't get in until 11:30 :scared:!

Thanks again to everyone for reading, but don't abandon me yet just because I'm going home! :goodvibes: I still have to post my report from today, some photos from my real camera, and my final thoughts on the trip as a whole as well as some of the places we visited in particular. I will probably have that all done in the next couple of days, so keep an eye out and let me know if there are any questions I can answer for anyone.

Wish us a good flight!
