"Only Heaven Is Better than Disney World": Live TR 8/24

This morning, we got up bright and early and headed over to Animal Kingdom for breakfast at the Tusker House before the park opened. We waited about 25 minutes for the bus, and arrived at Animal Kingdom at about 7:50.

They checked our names at the front gates to make sure we had reservations and then sent us on the walk back to the Tusker House, which is less than ten minutes from the front gates. On the way back, I snapped some pictures to share with you guys.

Getting closer...

We'll be there soon!

As I got close to the restaurant, two of the cast members noticed my just engaged button and congratulated me. The male cast member asked me if I would like to play his drum, so I did, and the female one said she absolutely must take our picture. Now, if you haven't noticed yet, I'm not really one for posting pictures of myself, but I decided to take one for the team today, and you will actually see several pictures of me over the course of the day.

The Tusker House was right across from where I got this picture taken, so I turned around and rejoined my fiancé, who I had suggested go ahead of me.

Even though our reservation wasn't technically until 8:25, they let us check in early. Then they lined us all up to get a picture with the head honcho of the Safari breakfast himself....

After we got our picture taken, we headed in and ordered our drinks, and then our server suggested we head up to the buffet. This buffet is one of my favorite breakfasts on property. The food is all great, they have tons of choices, and they have some foods with an African twist in addition to the traditional American breakfast food.

My fiancé's plate

My plate--I only managed to eat about half of it!

Daisy did a little parade around the room with all of the kids while we were eating.

We finished eating by about 8:35, but since the park wasn't open yet, we decided to stay until 8:55 and see as many characters as possible. As it happened, we were able to see all of them.

(Mickey got all excited when he saw my engagement button and ring and pointed to my fiancé as if to say, "Is that him?" I nodded and he clapped his hands. Then I decided to tease him a little bit and asked him if he and Minnie were engaged yet. He put his finger over his mouth like he was telling me to stay quiet about that. Poor Minnie! ;))

After Mickey, we saw Daisy again. I am not posting my picture with her because it's horrendous. My one with Goofy isn't that bad though, so here you go:

By that time, we had paid our bill, and the park was opening for the day. The rest of the morning turned out to be filled with lots of new experiences! I hope you all keep reading to find out what they were! :goodvibes:

All caught up! Loving this live report. It's almost as good as being there. Glad to hear you enjoyed Teppan Edo. We're doing that for the first time on our trip in January. Loved the pics too.

I agree with you about Tusker House breakfast - I do think it's the best on property.

Have a great afternoon. Look forward to more!

I think you'll enjoy Teppan Edo as well. My fiancé and I both agree we'd like to return next time we're at Disney.

Love to hear that it's low crowds!! Since our school district starts late this year (normally we go back the week before Labor Day) we know at least two other families that will be there at the same time as us! We're all hoping for low crowds and no hurricanes!!!

We came this time last year, and since all the southern schools go back to school early, the crowds are very light. Hope you have a great trip!

Love it!! So glad you are having fun! Enjoy!!

We got engaged in Disney in 2003......now 7 years and 3 kids later...it's a whole new Disney for us!! Enjoy the grown up time, while ya got it!!!

Wish we had gotten engaged here too--that would have been a great story! We actually got engaged a few months ago, but this is our first trip since then, so we're celebrating that during this trip.

I'm actually wearing Tevas as I type this (shh, don't tell anyone, I don't really feel like changing back into my work shoes right now). I might have to buy another pair prior to leaving!

Thank you for all the great pictures so far, especially of Spaceship Earth. I absolutely love it.

Tevas? What Tevas? ;) My lips are sealed!

YAY!!!!! :cool1: AWESOME updates!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I really hope your feet feel better soon! The breakfast @ AK looked really yummy!! popcorn:: Hope the rest of your day was great too! :)

What a beautiful picture! Love the birds in the forefront, the way the fern curves perfectly over them, and the reflection of the sun on the water. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your engagement and thank you so much for stealing the moments to share your trip with us! You are very kind. :flower3: I hope the rest of your trip brings you and your fiance even more joy than you are bringing us - which is a lot! :mickeyjum

Take care of those feet! ;)

You guys are helping me out too, because now I have something to do on bus and monorail rides and during waits. Thanks so much for reading :goodvibes:

After we left breakfast, my fiancé went over to Kilimanjaro Safaris to grab a fastpass for later, while I started heading over to Expedition Everest since my sore feet were slowing me down. The walk over was quite beautiful.

Just after I finished taking the EE pictures, I heard a lady right next to me say to her kids, "Oh no, I forgot my motion sickness medicine." I immediately felt for her. As someone who often gets motion sickness, I knew how she might feel if she rose EE without it. And as it just so happened, I had unopened packets of motion sickness tablets in my purse for that very reason. I turned to her and told her I had heard what she said and had some I could give her if she wanted. She was extremely grateful and immediately took me up on the offer. As I was getting the medicine out for her, my fiancé caught up with me. We walked over to EE, and it was pretty much a walk-on!

We enjoyed the ride so much that we decided to do it again.

You don't see this very often!

We saw the lady I gave the motion sickness pills to in line, and they were also riding it for a second time...so she was very grateful for the medicine then!!!

On the way out, I saw this shirt that I liked, but they were out of my size. The lady said there was a good chance they had it at the store in Africa, so I decided to look for it there.

In the meantime, my fiancé found and bought this shirt.

While he was checking out, I ran over to get some Everest fastpasses in case we wanted to ride it later.

As we headed towards Africa, we saw a ride that neither of us had been on, so we decided to give it a try, especially since it was only a five minute wait!

This ride was a lot of fun, and the people riding with us were very nice. We did get wet, but thankfully not soaked!

After this ride, we continued towards Africa and saw another first.

The one...the only...

DeVine!

I also managed to get a video of her, but I couldn't figure out whether I could embed it here or not. The link is below. I think it might have lost some of its sharpness when it got compressed for upload, so hopefully you can still see it OK.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf3rvaxvfU8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Once we finished marveling at DeVine, we headed over to the Safari, which will be in my next post since I have lots of pictures. Oh, and I did manage to find that shirt in my size on the way, so I bought and had it delivered to the resort.

Thanks to everyone for reading!

My fiancé LOVED those waffles! I tried a bite of his and thought they were good too, but I was already stuffed. Thanks for the congrats

So, as I was checking out my two blisters to see how bad they were, I noticed one has a distinct resemblance to a Mickey head....I swear I am not making this up! Alrighty, off for a swim in the quiet pool!

Yeah...all caught up! We are loving all of the pictures and updates! You are making us question some of our ADRs. We are not doing dining this year and the Brown Derby looks soooooooooooo tempting. Thank you for the time you are spending to make a few of the obsessive DISers drooling!:surfweb::banana::yay::cheer2::mickeyjum
