Gail

Gail (Newby) Wish you lived in Florida, I'd be mailing stuff as we speak! But thanks for the offer...maybe just a bottle of Steve's rum! Kidding. ;)

Steve...there was supposed to be a joke buried there...fire..rum..firefighter...never mind. I love Bananas Foster, by the way. My favorite dish at the famous Brennan's in New Orleans. Speaking of Bananas Foster, do you think they make it onboard?

Back to the flowers I go!

sorry stace:(

missed the joke cause I drank too much "firewater" while camping this weekend.

They make cherries jubilee one night it flames up pretty good. I'm sure 1 of those dozens of Chefs could whip us up a plate of bananas foster if we ask REAL nice.

Steve

I LOVE bananas Foster! I made it myself one time and burnt my eyelashes... duh...

Gail

:p :p :p Gail, ROFLOL!! Where are those firefighters when you need them!!? I'm sorry, I guess it wasn't funny to you, but I'm still laughing. this is why I don't attempt to cook fancy dishes!
My favorite thing to make for dinner: reservations
Camping? My idea of roughing it is a hotel with no room service!
Actually, since marrying DH, I do camp with him.....we now own 35 acres of forest land in Prescott, w/ a small cabin, no water, elec, used to have an outhouse, until DH chopped down the tree next to the outhouse..good thing no one was "sitting" at the time!
Now we have a new name for all those fancy rum drinks they serve on the ship...."Firewater".
:earseek:

DH went shopping for this trip...duct tape, handyman knife/scissors/bottle opener, etc., bungee cords, cable ties, extension strip, etc.

I went shopping: robe, coverup, flip flops, etc. sundress

Stacey: yes, everyone else was ROTF LOL, I guess I didn't burn them off, just singed the tips, it was pretty funny!

I think I just like to post to see my timer!

I put in the day we're leaving (we're coming in a day early), or else I screwed up, I don't have a math gene, my shopping gene grew so large it overcrowded my math gene and direction gene (at least that's DH's theory).

Gail

The only thing DH does to get ready for a trip is to put the luggage in the car! Even for the camping trips, which I never liked, I do it all. But that sounds like typical guy/girl shopping, Gail!!

I was going to change my countdown timer to make it correct, but the instructions were too confusing, especially the part about erasing your original timer. Oh well, we all know when we'll get there.....not soon enough!!!

Two more flower pomander balls (for ceremony decoration) to make and I'm all done!! :bounce: They average 2 hrs each to do. DD #2 better elope!!

I'm not sure how all of you are doing, but mentally, I'm already on the boat! I read my Passporter every night and think about the cruise during the day. And I'm a first-timer (not counting a Carnival Cruise I took 10 years ago). Help! I need to focus on some large projects at work - they have to be finished by the time I leave on 9/13.

I read other trip reports and keep picturing myself in their shoes. I imagine the food is wonderful and the weather is clear. I keep wondering what is it about Disney Dreams that makes people cry - and will I cry, too? Will my DD, DH & in-laws like the cruise? They were all reluctant to go - I had to drag everyone. My mother-in-law went on a cruise from LA to Hawaii (our parents are all from Hawaii) 40 years ago and found it very boring. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will enjoy it...so maybe we can go on a 7-nighter next year (shh...don't tell them my plan).

Is there hope for me?!?

jill

I booked our excursions - the Catamaran Sail & Reef Snorkeling for Nassau and Parasailing on CC. We got a 9 AM slot - I want to be in there and out before the bride "feeds the fish"!!!!!!

At our house packing for a trip is like the laundry - Dh's contribution is.....He wears the clothes! Ok, he does put the luggage in the car too!!! And in case he's lurking - he's the most wonderful DH in the world too!!!!!

Stacey - I've only planned graduation parties for my kids. After doing last years for my daughter, I tried to bribe my son with money for his graduation this year - he wanted the party instead. My other daughter graduates next spring - I guess I will have to up the ante!!!!! :smooth:

We were talking last night about how when we booked the cruise the countdown was 187 days - now we are around the corner from single digets:Pinkbounc

Gail

no jillte, there is no hope for you, you might as well jump out your verandah when you get there...

No, seriously, 40 years ago? That was probably so ancient, it was probably a WWII ship out of commission used for cruises...

I sort of had to talk DH into it. It was either WDW (we're not into tromping around WDW) or cruise, he opted for the cruise, more relaxing.

Stace: You are nuts, 2 hours for the balls? I would break out in hives worrying if I had everything...I think I'll break out in hives just worrying about your daughters wedding!!!

What colors are the wedding? I'll bet it's going to be beautiful! I can only imagine what your diva/daughter is like. I sang for my own wedding...I did great on the songs, I just treated it like another job, but when I went to speak...I could hardly put two words together!

Gail

Yep - it looks hopeless. Looks like once the Disney Cruise bites you, you're a goner.

I hope I keep my Gails right.

Gail - Newby Cruiser. I think you're correct. My mother-in-law went on the Lurline from the old Matson line. It was supposed to be beautiful. But she said it was boring. Plus, you're at sea with no port for about 5 days, so I can imagine it being a bit long.

Gail - #1 Mouse. You are grace under pressure. I don't know how you can plan a wedding + vacation at the same time. I'm having trouble enough with just the vacation part. But, I'm sure it's going to be great. I've already told the family that there will be a wedding on the cruise. Good Luck!

Jill

Sorry - my previous note about the wedding should be directed to Stacey, not Gail (I think). I'm getting my folks all confused. Cruise brain drain is setting in!

ok i am driving every one crazy at work.. is it time to go yet??
off my steriods for asthma 3 days and its back i need fresh tropical air..ya think the mouse will spring for an up grade?? i need a verhanda!!
why are people bringing duct tape on a cruise??

you just never know when you might need duct tape. Check out ducttapeguys.com, it's hysterical! Duct tape fashions, cars, clothes...

I guess you could use it for ripped luggage, holes in drapes, etc.

fireplug: are you bringing an air cleaner? I have really bad allergies, and want to bring one, but don't want to lug it down there. I may send it to the hotel.

Me and my cigars will be downwind so as not to cause havoc on the asthmatics. Have to be careful with firewater and a lit cigar anyway so maybe I should just drink more and smoke less

Steve

Hey Dale did you see my new countdown better get yours up there and soon:p

:( Hi friends,
We need some prayers here. My father-in-law is in an assisted living facility, DH & I are his trustees & guardians. He suffered another stroke today, is doing fairly well, but it doesn't look good.
It is basically a matter of time. DH & his sister & I are all he has. We are all planning on being on the cruise, so it will be very hard leaving, knowing that the only local contacts are some close friends of ours. We had to go (his facility insisted) and make pre-paid funeral arrangements in case something happens while we're gone, they'll have somewhere to send him. I don't want prayers that he does okay so that we can have a nice cruise & wedding, I don't know what I want really.
Sorry to unload, I guess I'm just very tired.

On another note, I realized that now all of you know that I'm doing the wedding flowers, and if you come over to watch the ceremony & see that the flowers are awful, I'm going to claim someone else did them! Don't expect too much. :D
Gail, her colors are lavender & ivory, some of the pomander balls are lavender based, and some are a spring/fall mix. And I have had hives, every night for the last 3 months!

Did you hear about our gas catastrophe here in Arizona? Our main pipeline broke, so we have no gasoline! They are trucking in 6-8 tankers every so often to various locations throughout the day....but it's a pretty huge area, and the lines are 2 hrs long...I got lucky, and got gas this a.m. early, had to pay $2.15 a gallon, and now have had to loan that car to Megan as hers is totally empty. I'm not even going to ask what else could go wrong! Blackout, maybe?
Sorry so long, and sorry again to unload. Guess I'll hit the hay.
Tomorrow is another day, and another day closer to paradise!
Steve, I'm not usually much of a drinker, but if I were you, I'd keep a tight grip on that rum.....I'll be stalking you!!! :smooth:

:D I almost forgot!! There is some good news! We got our documents today!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

And by the way, no one else in our whole group has gotten an upgrade. We have Categories 5, 7 & 11. I felt certain they'd upgrade the bride & groom, but they're a 7, & I don't see those getting upgraded much. Nor the 5's, but really no need to. But I thought maybe the 11's...but there are a lot of them, and I guess if DCL did one, they'd have to do all...not likely.

Anyway, off to bed. 'Night all!
