Only 1,430 days left....

SSAVL, I respect your views, but I see it a little differently. I see it like we were already on the bus headed for the cliff and we had a choice. Keep the same driver or get a new one that, despite a few major bumps in the road, will do everything to avoid the cliff.

I, and a lot of other people, chose the new driver.

And, again, I respect your views, but the economic downturn in September was not some smoke and mirrors act made up by the media.

Great comeback!!

Not saying it was smoke and mirrors in Sept, im saying it was going bad well before that, the media decided to make it a bigger factor for the election. As far as the bus drivers, atleast the last one knew the road ahead, he was being forced off the cliff by democratic road rage...the new driver, in my opinion, is looking forward to the impact to see if anyone does in fact survive, scary!!!

There is an Apple widget for your Mac or iPhone...

If it was good enough for all the Bush Bashers...

My apologies, I mis-read your statement. I agree that the economy was going bad before September. To me, that is just further proof that tax cuts were simply not the right (and/or only) answer for this problem.

Again, we have a difference of opinion. I think the last driver was too busy playing war to realize he had already driven off the cliff. The new driver, IMHO, is trying whatever he can to salvage what he can while the old driver and his friends sit by and watch and critique but do nothing substantive to help.

New doesn't mean better. McCain reached across the aisle, but was demonized for having an "R" after his name.

I really, really wish this weren't not true.. but it's doesn't look good. Obama and his doom and gloom.:sad2: I am not spending a dime that isn't a necessity. I would like to... I love to spend money. If I've stopped spending....????:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: DH used to say I was trying to save the economy all on my own. Not anymore. I'm saving for the floods and famines.

The dems are absolutely beside themselves. They have been waiting a long time to do this. I can't believe the "it's our turn now". Turn? It's all about OUR TURN? "We can spend, spend, spend on what WE want." And, justify it by saying, "Well, the Republicans blah blah blah blah blah....."

Sorry, as I said, new doesn't mean better.

New doesn't mean better.

You're right. New doesn't always mean better. Perhaps if, like I said in my original post, the GOP had presented a viable alternate plan things would be different. But all of this hullabaloo about how Obama will be the death of this country is falling on deaf ears with me until the GOP presents something, ANYTHING, of substance that would prove to be a viable alternate plan. Until then, like I said, they can take their ball and go home.

If you want to see how Obama will be the death of this country...look at the financials. He's demonized Wall Street, but the stock market affects EVERYBODY!! It doesn't matter if you own stocks or not. Wall Street has listened to Obama and his administration...and guess what? They are taking their ball and going elsewhere. You are going to see our money and jobs going to other countries.

Do you think ANY plan put forth by the GOP would have a snowballs chance in HECK to pass?? With the dems in the majority, the GOP could come up with a cure for the common cold and cancer in one day and the dems would squash it because they wont let a conservative best them in anyway. Democrats NEED the economy to fail so more people will have their hand out saying "where is mine?". That is how they retain their vote. Its a circle that needs to be broken!!

With all due respect, this has been happening for years and certainly didn't start (and won't stop) with the Obama Administration.

We all can point fingers and talk until we're all blue in the face. The fact of the matter is that, for better or worse, at least Obama is TRYING to do something about the situation we're in. The results of his actions can be debated later and will ultimately be decided upon in 2012.

In the meantime, until the GOP comes up with ANYTHING that can be presented as a viable alternative plan to Obama's, instead of sitting on their hands and shaking their heads, they can take their ball and go home.

Do I think it would have a chance to pass? No, not at all. But in the event that Obama's plan doesn't work, at least the GOP can say that what they would have done would have worked instead of just saying "I told you so".

I would have a ton more respect for the GOP if they would've at least played a good game against the odds. Instead they gave up and have decided not to participate at all and have loudly touted that fact.

Where would the GOP plan be discussed? The MSM? no. Liberal talk shows? no. That's right. Fox News...,but only "right-wing" nutjubs believe "Faux News". Conservative talk radio. (well, at least for the moment) Oh yeah, who's going to believe a "pill-popper" like Rush?

For all his talk, talk, talk,...Obama has no desire for bipartisanship. He has no plans for compromise. It's all about him...so, he thinks. Pelosi/Reid are the ones running this three ring circus.

Respect?? Do you respect the democrats who voted for this bill without even reading it?? Do you respect the recklessness of this bill and the TRILLIONS in EXTRA debt it will put us without creating jobs and kick starting the economy? The Republicans spent that time crafting opposition, which was the best thing they could have done at the time!!

That's a very presumptive statement. As I said, the results of this stimulus will flesh themselves out and we will be able to judge them soon enough. I'm just not willing to automatically write it off without giving it a chance.

The GOP knew that this stimulus was priority number one for Obama. Instead of "crafting opposition", they should have spent every waking minute from November 4 to January 20 crafting an actual plan to present as an alternative to whatever the Dems came up with. "Crafting oppostion" when you are the minority doesn't exactly get you very far in my book.

November was the first time I've ever voted for a President. I was undecided at one point and I really wanted to hear something from the GOP on how they planned to turn this economy around. Unfortunately, they didn't have a coherent plan and to this day they still don't. It's that simple. How can they sit there and complain about what has been passed when they don't have an alternative plan?

Don't sit there and tell me something is not going to work when you can't tell me what will work. (Not directed at you, just referring to the GOP)

I notice you didnt respond to my question as to whether or not you respect the dem pols who voted for it without reading it..........and to get back to my cliff analogy, its a 500 foot drop, the dems and Republicans were standing on the edge, the dems jumped blindly, the Republicans chose not to and will live to find an answer to this mess/

There was no point and no time to craft anything BUT an opposition. It was a moot point. There was an Obama deadline. He had a "bill signing" production in process. He already had the "perfect" backdrop... and everything.

The dems had to payback their buddies. They needed to fund those pet projects that had dried up..for so long. No discussion, no compromise..no need to do so. Wham, bam, thank you, Madame Pelosi. вы камрад Reid, для меньшие примечания влюбленностиthe смещено в счет под крышкой темноты (Thank you, Comrade Reid, for slipping the "little love notes" into the package under the cover of night.)

If support him means to go along with this huge pork infested spending bill, bailing out the irresponsible, then no, he gets NO support from me.

He could go republican, and he'd still get no support from you.

I get it Dawn.. THE WHOLE DIS GETS IT.

YOU ARE A REPUBLICAN WHO DESPISES OBAMA!

You sound like a broken record, a scratched CD, and a stuck iPod... all in one.

I have respect for anyone that is trying to fix the problems we have in this economy. Whether or not what they did will work is yet to be seen but at least they tried and I respect that.

I don't have respect for anyone that simply said "No" and offered nothing as an alternative plan.

But I'm done arguing. I respect your views and opinions, hopefully you respect mine. As much as we may agree to disagree, there is one thing that all of us can agree on and that is that we all want what is best for this country, how we get to that point is a whole other ball game...LOL.
