Online retailers you've been impressed or NOT impressed with this holiday season

Naughty: Twinings. I ordered some free samples in September. I still haven't received them. Yes, they are free...but if I like them, I would order some. I usually order Chai and Earl Grey, from them, because I can't get them here at the local grocery. (could probably find them in Jax, but I spend less on shipping than I would on gas, so it works for me)

I ordered samples from Twinings also, and it arrived today. So, you may get it next week.

Nice List: Amazon (Prime :thumbsup2), Yankee Candle, and Life is Good. I placed an order last night with Life is Good & received an email today that it was shipped - got free shipping and 20% off with code SNOW.

Nobody on Naughty List yet; very pleased with shipments so far.

Overall all of my shopping has been great - Amazon, Toys R Us (only one item), American Girl and Target.

I was a little nervous about American Girl because I ordered several items that were on back-order for McKenna. A couple of things started to ship before their estimated dates but I was waiting for McKenna's pjs for girls. It was backordered until December 7 when I ordered in mid-oct. Well, I keopt waiting and sure enough, got a shipping notice on the 7th and was told it would arrive on the 14th. And it was there yesterday which was perfect because they were for DD's birthday party which was today!

Unimpressed: Overstock.com. - I ordered a leather briefcase which was listed as leather, but turned out it was pleather. Had to pay $10 to ship back. I asked their online customer service to refund the $10 and let me reuse my coupons to order another briefcase since their product description was inaccurate, which was agreed to, but did not show up in my account. Had to call again and got the rudest customer service rep who acted like I was trying to steal money out of his pocket. He flatly refused my requested for the coupon. This didn't go over well on my end and I wound up saying some choice words. Wouldn't you know it, the next day the same coupon discount was again available to the public. I don't get why the rep wouldn't help me with a crummy 10% discount, since these coupons are available most of the time:confused3

I ordered a computer from Dell on cybermonday. The estimated ship date was 12/10. I was so shocked when the FedEx guy showed up at my door less than 48 hours later with it!

I also had good luck with Barnes and Noble and Amazon.

Slow shipping-American Eagle. I ordered a shirt in the store to be shipped to my house because they didn't have my daughter's size in the store, and it took 2 weeks to arrive.

Unimpressed -

Amazon, I don't have prime and they are great all year along until right before Thanksgiving. Suddenly my orders sit for a week before shipping. I had an issue a few years ago with a lego book from them ordered for DS9's bday (two days after Christmas). Many who ordered after me and the item was showing a later ship date because it was currently OOS got theirs before mine when mine was instock when ordering.

Sears - Still trying to get my order straight from well before Black Friday. I ordered a Dept 56 house, Mickey and Minnie and plant. Got the house, nothing else. It looks like it should have shipped all in one according to the invoice but only the house was initialed by the picker. They seem to be "tracking" the other package. Which doesn't exist! They just didn't have everything in the box. I've gotten the strangest emails from them. Today was 3, first one said they were refunding my $7.50 because they were still looking into the issue and would just cancel (I am missing $25 in items and don't want them canceled). 2nd one said they couldn't find any info and 3rd one said to disregard any previous emails. ????

Walmart - Canceled a in store pick up of a laptop. Again this was before Black Friday and wasn't a smokin' deal. I just needed a new laptop.

OfficeMax - Won't even go there with their customer service. Computer did not work and we still had to pay the restocking fee. IT DID NOT WORK!! They refused to take it out of the box and see for themselves!!! NEVER again will I step foot into that place.

Impressed - Hate to say it but TRU is going on this list right now. They saved me in the lego department. Needed a Dino and Robbers Hideout. Dino is discontinued and was sold out at lego online and stores. Robbers Hideout also sold out, not sure if it is disco or not. They happen to be 25% off and free shipping so I ended up paying the same as I would have at lego because of their horrible markup! They were on my doorstep quickly. I am not a fan of TRU.

Impressed with the shipping of all the companies I have used:

Amazon - on time or quicker than expected
Sephora - all quicker than expected
Lilly Pulitzer (amazing! free shipping and the items came the next day!)

OP here. TRU seemed to work its way FURTHER into my personal dog house this week. SAME item that took forever to ship (a lego set) was shipped in JUST THE LEGO BOX. It was not placed inside another box and shipped. They stuck shipping labels ALL OVER the Lego box and shipped it. Did I mention this was a SANTA toy??!! I had to spend 30+ minutes meticulously peeling shipping labels off the box (which is beat up, too, from shipping) to salvage the poor gift. TRU heard from me about this one. I was not a happy momma when it arrived. Of course it's out of stock now (and only available on Amazon for $20 more than I paid), so my only option was to peel off the shipping labels. NEVER AGAIN, TRU, NEVER AGAIN!

Finally got my package from Toys R Us. I had to go to the Purolator office and pick it up. This was two weeks after I ordered it! They had told me it would take two days. When I called back after a week, the person explained that they meant two days AFTER IT SHIPPED. What? And yes, apparently it took 12 days before it shipped.

Meanwhile, Amazon keeps sending me stuff in, yes, two days. And that's two days after I order!

Impressed: Barnes and Noble: Ordered something for Dad late Thurs. night or Fri. He got today. I got free express shipping since I'm a club member.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I'm always impressed with Zappos! I swear they must have an office in the hedges outside my front door. I always receive some kind of expedited shipping and my orders arrive a day or two after I hit "enter"!

Completely unimpressed with Kohls. Order three different shipments, first two finally arrived after about 10 days, still waiting for one that was supposed to arrive 3 days ago. Can't access the tracking info through their site and was given less than helpful info on an online chat. Told to just re-order the item again and return one if it ever arrives. Also, two days after I placed two of the orders, I received a promo code via e-mail with a better discount and they would not give a price adjustment. I'm done with online shopping at Kohls!

So far, Tervis is on my unimpressed list. Last Wednesday , I placed orders with Amazon, Walmart and Tervis. I got the two orders from Amazon (orders placed several hours apart on the same day) in one box on Saturday. My order from Walmart arrived today. And Tervis??? I just don't know....when I placed the order Wed. I got an email that said "we are working on your order, you'll have it by Christmas Eve". And not a word since...really? Two weeks? That seems crazy, I didn't order something personalized, why so long?

I have had something like this happen before. Just write "REFUSE" on the package when you get back to school and stick it back in the mail. They have no choice but to refund your money if they receive the package back that has been refused.

Even if the online store has a no-return policy, I can do this?

Impressed:
REI -- I placed an order Friday afternoon, and it arrived Monday. Free shipping. I couldn't believe it arrived so soon!
Amazon -- They always are prompt with Super Saver shipping. We just got Prime and an item I ordered on Sunday night will arrive on Wednesday to a different shipping address. Love it.

Not Impressed:
Kohl's -- Wow. I waited almost 2 full weeks for an item to even leave the warehouse. Then it took the normal 5 days or so on top of that to arrive. I have never dealt with such a slow process.

Not impressed with Best Buy. First time choosing the 'pick-up in store' option.

I placed an online order Dec. 11th. Receipt said item could be picked up between Dec. 17th, and it would be held until the 25th. So yesterday, (the 17th), I never received an additional e-mail saying my item was ready for pick-up. So I called and found out my order status was "canceled!" :headache:

Apparently the item was sold out online, even though the website allowed me to place an order! Ugh....What I don't get is why they never sent me an e-mail or called to notify me of this?? :confused3 I'm sitting around waiting for my DH's main gift, all the while not knowing my order had been canceled! :furious:

Needless to say, I will NEVER do store pick-up again, especially during the holidays.

Good news is I was able to order a similar item online and have it shipped to my house with guaranteed Christmas delivery. Should be here on or before the 24th.

FYI, so far this season I have done online orders through Amazon, Sephora, and Lego. Got all packages on or ahead of schedule, and no ordering problems! :thumbsup2

I did this as well. One will be delivered today and one by Friday.
Love Zoya!!!

Impressed: Amazon (ordered something on Saturday it arrived Monday!) We do have Prime. Kona Sports came through with a better price after a Santa pair of Uggs kept not shipping, Cafe Press - ordered some Hunger Games stuff for DD and Walking Dead shirts for DH, one hoodie and a shirt for DD didn't look nice, they remade them and shipped overnight! Plus they had given me a nice discount code anyway

Not Impressed: Plow & Hearth. Saw the Ugg deal posted here and ordered. Decided later the discount was good enough to order 2 pairs of Ugg slippers as well. One pair of slippers came. Then nothing. I finally called after seeing a refund. The shoes that were IN stock went out of stock and were supposed to ship (& arrive on Christmas Eve) the second pair of slippers got refunded (I payed Paypal) When I called I was told the other slippers weren't going to be coming in stock at all. I asked that they substitute a different pair of slippers (same brand, color, and price) for what I paid, they refused. I asked that I get a different color in the same slipper I ordered, they refused. After an hour on the phone they agreed to give me 20% off but would not honor their sale price as well.
I found the same shoes from Kona Sports cheaper, in stock so I cancelled with Plow & Hearth. I will NEVER buy from them again

Unimpressed:

Gap/Banana Republic - Multiple items I have ordered been cancelled because they state they do not have the items in stock. When I go back to the website they are available. This happened about 5 times this year. I'm a BR Luxe card holder so they always manage to fix it but it's really frustrating. Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment.

Impressed:

American Girl - Other than rarely offering shipping deals, American Girl has been great to deal with. Bought 1 doll and clothes at different times and then got in on the Today Show deal. Everything came in pretty fast.

Toys-R-Us - (Total surprise!) Ordered a toy that I couldn't find cheaper anywhere else and got a free $45. toy with it. Both arrived to my house really, really fast.

Impressed:

Bloomingdales sent my package and it got here in 4 days on regular shipping.
I was also impressed with Zara who sent my package in 4 days regular shipping as well.

Unimpressed:

NBA store: bought shirts for my brothers and its been 9 days! Whenever I go on their website to track my package it says error. I really hope I get it before Christmas.
