Does the Fort do online or early check-in? We are arriving on March 22nd and have rented a pop-up. If we can't check in early how do we tell the pop-up people where our site is?
Also how can I request a site/loop? We will be in a tent/pop-up site (the cheapest available) and I'd like something close to a comfort station and or transportation. We won't be renting a cart or bringing bikes.
Help me out, what is the process?

Amanda,

I'll tell you what the experience HAS been. I don't know if it's changed in the last year with Magic Bands or My Disney Experience though.

At 10 days before arrival or so I got an email from Disney with a link to do early check-in. You can give them a credit card to pre-authorize for room charges (No way). You confirm the guest names and ages. Then there was a section where you could REQUEST (not guaranteed) certain things about your site.

You could request:

- certain loops (not all listed but popular ones like 100, 200, 1500, 700 etc. were)
- near a Comfort Station
- near a bus stop/transporation
- a pet loop

might have been others - don't recall.

Loop 2000 (a Tent/Partial) has two Comfort Stations of which one has a bus stop right behind it. Not much traffic on that road except for busses and folks in the Creekside Meadow group campsite. Big sites in that loop too.

I'll be checking in a day or two after you (still trying to nail it down) in a Preferred site (loop 100/200) in my popup. Please try to stop by and say 'hi'. I shouldn't be hard to find.

PS - I forgot to mention that the Fort downloads all ressies a few days before arrival so you will have a PRELIMINARY site assigned to your reservation when your trailer vendor comes to set up for you. The Fort will tell him what site number you have and that will lock it in for you. So when you show up it should be all ready. ;)

Maybe it's just me, but we have try'd early online check in and I didn't see any time saved or that it made a difference checking in :confused3
Just my opinion, but the only difference in time saving at check in is "how long the line is" when you get to the Fort . (
Course that's not what I sometimes hear from others, many seem to like it.

As for early check in you can be there at 6:05 AM. If your site isn't ready they will text you when it is.

At the outpost I have seen, at least in busy periods, a desk/table set up in thr lobby to help complete Online Check-ins. I haven't stuck around to see what is actually done there or how long it takes, but at least those people don't have to stand in the longer check-in lines behind the ropes. We usually just go through the line outside, but DW has gone inside a couple of times and registered quicker than I was able to get through the outsiode line. It just seems to depend on how busy things get.

This past Thanksgiving we stayed at the Fort for the first time. My wife and I stayed in a teardrop camper that my Dad and I built this past winter. We did the early check in and check in seemed to go smoothly. The time that it was taking some of the campers in front of us to complete registration was quite a bit longer than it took us. The CM came to us with an I Pad and asked if we did the early check in. We told her we had. She went back in with our information. When we pulled up to the check in window, it was pretty much paying and getting our site number, directions, and some info about the Fort. Again, we didn't seem to be at the check in window as long as some of the campers in front of us. Going back the first week of April for a week :yay:
