Hi all! Can I use a debit card during online check in? Does the debit card have to match the name of the reservation? Thank you!

Just be forewarned and take a look at the new credit card hold policy before you decide.

The name on the card MUST match name on reservation. A minor cannot use a card to reserve a room.

No it doesn't. The last 3 trips we have paid for our Son and Daughter-In-Law. Our CC has been the only one in their MDE account and our names are not the same.

Dansdad, so you are saying Disney is now allowing minors (age 17) make a reservation in Another person's name, and use a different credit card (not in either one's name), and do online checkin.

The person asking has asked this question, there different times in these boards, just worded differently, hoping for the "answer" they want.

Person making reservation as "lead" guest and two minors "who have credit cards (age 17). They want to use a credit c a rd that one of the 17 year olds have.

Unless laws have changed (which honestly they might have) a minor cannot enter into a "contract" or be responsible for paying "incidentals".

Sorry, this was completely a separate question from my previous one. My situation is that me, and 18 year old would be checking in but my friend is paying for the vacation, it doesn’t matter their age I was asking if the card has to match the name under the reservation, it would be matching someone in the room. Sorry for my constant questions/confusion. I am new here and I don’t really know where to post. Have a good day!

What is this? It charges $100 dollars and is refunded if not used correct? I’m fine with this as I would rather not use the magic hands for spending and I’ve never had a problem with incidentals previously.

I most definitely am not. Age was not part of the question I answered.

I did not know any of this. And you are correct, lead guest must be at least 18.

I am the lead guest and I am 18. I was asking if the card has to match the reservation. Sorry for the confusion!

Disney puts a hold of $100 upon check in. Then increases the hold whenever your charges exceed that $100 and then they place another $100 hold on the account. At the end of your stay, the exact charges are put thru and Disney releases any holds. I explained this in another one of your threads.

What this means is that your friend will not have access to those funds for any other purpose until the holds clear, which can be anywhere from a few business days to a few weeks' time, depending on their banking institution.

Honestly. For the third time. Why not just buy some gift cards to pay for your purchases and abandon the whole idea of placing a debit card on the room account?

You can pay for incidentals with a gift card? Sorry, I’m new to the booking a Disney Trip scene, not your fault!

I've had room reservations listed as the lead person under me, my DH and my DD all at different times. Down payment was under their cards, but at check in I always am the one that ends up paying with my credit card, so it does not matter who pays off the room (if 18 or older).
