Online Check In

I did online checkin and when we arrived at BWV on Monday I was handed the folder, I think they checked our Magic Bands (can't remember for sure) and we were done. They didn't even ask for credit card. it was very fast.

I think it makes check in faster. I've been doing online check in for most of my recent trips but didn't use it on my most recent trip and regretted it. It was much slower.

We did it at BWV in June and were met by a CM who gave us our room number (ready at 12:30) and sent us on our way with the welcome package. We already checked in for our BLT stay that starts tomorrow; we'll see if our room is ready again.

I used it for last Saturday at BWV. I don't think it saved much time. They have an online check-in window at BW but when I asked where to line up for it they said to just wait for any window to open. The cm did go pickup my packet so that was already ready.

Regarding requests, I requested top floor, close to elevator. Got 3005, which was middle (5 floors total) but all the way at the end of the hall. Room not ready when I arrived at around 12:45, went to Epcot while waiting for the text. No text by 3:15 so I decided to head back. I waited in the lobby for about 10 minutes and noticed there was no line at the front desk so I went up and asked. It was ready! Never got the text. Luggage from DME had not arrived by 5:30 so I headed back out, it was there when I returned around 9:00.

We had the same experience at BWV last Saturday. We arrived around 11:30am and by 5pm we still hadn't gotten a text that our room was ready but it was when we went back to check.

I like it because I can type in my credit card info myself. No need to give it to the CM at the front desk.

It doesn't seem to matter at the BWV whether I check in online or not as far as getting requests. I always have MS add them to my reservation and skip that part of the online check-in process. Think we're running better than 50% in getting our requests, which are usually very general.

The benefit is that it saves Disney money and maybe you some time.

Online check in was designed to allow Disney to reduce front desk staff and to process the bus loads of guest at the larger convention resorts. It is also used to deter guests from asking for a different room which causes Disney more work.

For the DVC, sometimes the room packets are made in advance and sometimes they aren't. Sometimes they will still ask for your credit card and other times they don't.

On occasion the online check in line at the front desk is longer than the walk up line.

As far as it helping you to get your room requests, I have not experienced the benefit.
