Online check in?

Hi all! I remember a long while ago hearing Pete on a show speaking about some issues he had with online check in. Has anyone had any problems recently with online check in? Is there any benifit to NOT checking in online? Thanks for your help!:goodvibes
 
I did online check in about a month ago and it worked just fine. Filled out all the info so then when I got to the actual hotel all the info and small talk were taken care of. I spent a few moments at the check in counter then off I went. I'd definitely recommend doing online check in. I also like being able to specify when I will arrive so they can hopefully have the room ready by then.

Only benefit I see to not checking in online is if you want to hang out in the hotel lobby and chat a bit longer lol.
 
We've done OLCI multiple times since then and had no problems at all. I don't see any reason not to do it.

I don't want to appear snarky but just because one person who has a blog had some issues with online check in "a long while ago" doesn't mean the system doesn't work. I do online check in every time I stay onsite. Never had a problem and even though we arrive around 11ish, our room has been ready.

I really wouldn't put one incidence from one person up as the system doesn't work.
 

Does doing online check in have any effect on the likely hood of getting your requests or the possibility of an upgrade?
 
Don't mean to hijack, but has anyone done online check in and switched resorts after? I did and now the new resort reservation is on MDE but when I try to do online check in it's saying I already picked my requests. I did pick them, but it was for the old resort and none apply to the new one. I'm not sure how to fix that or if I can just tell them what I would like when we check in?

You should call. Resort CMs usually do room assignments a few days before your arrival.

We have used online check in each time and works great, this past April we got of the bus and CM outside with our name on a board welcoming us to the resort, we did not even have to go inside, we checked in literally in two minutes, really nice! This is a perk for online check in so you may get that royal treatment also!
 
Ive never done online checkin. When is this option open (as soon as you make your reservation? 30 days out?) Do you see this option under your MDE account?

I didn't read it that way from your initial post. There are people on this board who read one thing and then take it for the truth and it's just an opinion someone else had. Yes, you should ask your question and others could take it to mean something else. These boards are for a lot of things but sometimes the thread can get derailed with other opinions. Glad you found your answer.
 
I did online checkin at VGF last month and requested top floor. Got 2nd. So it's a roll of the dice either way.
 
I did online check in at All Star Music in April. I requested non pool/garden view & high floor. When we got there they had us in a first floor pool view room. :rotfl:
