Online Check-in...will it mess us up at Poly??

I asked this on the regular resorts board but didn't get much traffic in the Poly FAQ thread...

Online check-in just opened for us. Is there any reason NOT to do online check in if we:
A) want to the whole aloha experience, with leis from the CM's and welcome homes.
B) are traveling with our parents who will be arriving way earlier than us at 10 while we won't get in until 3pm. Both of us on points and we have already contacted MS to request our reservations to be linked and our rooms to be NEAR each other if not adjoining. I'm worried that doing online check in would wipe out that request.

This is our first Poly stay and I want to make sure my parents especially get the full Poly experience. I've heard of online folks not getting leis and welcome homes. Frankly, in all the times we've done online check in we've never gotten a room text and always had to visit the desk anyway.

Should I do online check in and make OUR arrival time the same as our parents even though we won't get in until later? Should I not make any other requests (we don't really care about view other than we'd like to be within walking distance to our car and the TTC)

Help!

I would not use the online check-in. I would tell your parents to do regular check-in when they arrive and confirm that you have been assigned connecting. At 10:00am, they will have more availability to switch rooms around if necessary.

I used online check-in in May and got my room number texted when I was on DME. No greetings.

Thanks Debbie! Geez it totally never occurred to me to let them handle it since they get there first. It's the micromanager in me LOL.

You know it's supposed to happen, so when you enter the lobby let them greet you. Even if you get a room ready text, since you want those things, put yourself in the spot where they happen.

I've noticed that if you do NOT put in a CC during online checkin I have never gotten a room-ready text. So that takes care of that, and you'd have to go to the lobby anyway.

Doing online checkin does nothing to that request. Putting in requests during online checkin wipes out the previously made requests. Do NOT put in requests.

I've never seen anyone doing that when we've walked into the lobby of the Poly at all. When we check in there in December I will actively seek out the people doing that, and I will cause it to happen. (except I don't like the "welcome home" stuff, so they can ignore that...not that I ever say anything about it at all, I don't want the fun to end for others...I'm just never sad when it's not said to me/us)

I will have done online checkin, telling them when we plan to arrive, and I'll find the lei people and ask questions and do whatever I need to do. Just because I'll have done online checkin doesn't mean I'll have a lesser experience. I'll make it happen. :)

But I want to do online checkin because I like doing it, and I like telling them when I'll be there.
