Online check in - w/regard to requests

I have always felt that you have a better chance of getting your room type request, or at least have more options of location if you arrive early in the day, or at least that is what my experience has been at OKW and SSR.

Anyhow, my question is, if you check in online, when is your bldg/room "chosen"

We are doing a split stay. OKW is 2nd resort - 4 nites arrive Monday 12/7 checking out Friday 12/11. I am considering taking a cab (from Pop) to OKW early in the morning to check in and then meet the rest of the family at the park?

Or, should we all just go to the park and not worrry about it, even if it's later in the evening when we arrive at OKW for check-in?

I am more concerned this trip because we have three little kids this time, and I would like to be closer to HH and pray that I do not have to take a 3rd floor (again!!)

(note: we have been waitlisting all nights HH category since about 8 months out, so maybe that will come thru but it's not looking good!).

If your waitlist doesn't come through, you won't be staying there. You can check in at 6am but it won't help.

I've used online checkin my last 3 trips (3 different resorts). Each time I arrived 1-2pm and my room was ready and it met the requests I made when I booked the room. There's no guarantee, of course - but I believe they assign those rooms very early.

On a recent trip to SSR I arrived at check in at 7:00 AM. My room had already been assigned. It was in the Grandstand which was our second choice that I requested when I made the ressie. I asked the CM if he had anything in Congress Park with a DTD view. After a few moments he said yes I do. He changed our Key to the World Cards to the new room and said this "your room is ready now". I could not believe it, I fully expected to have to wait till 3 or 4 to get into our room.

Bottom line IMHO arriving as early as possible on check in day increases your chances of getting what you want.
