Online Check In Questions

Hey all, my online check in day is coming up and I had a few questions... is it true that you can put in nonsense information to just get through each screen quickly until you get your PAT and then go back and fix it after the fact? That seems risky but I've seen it mentioned on a few blogs, etc... Also, do you need to input your hotel and flight information? We're going to be staying at a VRBO and we'll be in Miami for a few days before we set sail...so it feels like I can just put "no" for "are you flying in for the cruise?" and skip the hotel part as well? Is that true? What would be the benefit/need for providing that information to DCL?

Feel free to share any other tricks of the trade for checking in! lol :)

TIA!

I created a cheat sheet, as advised by the aformentioned link which really helped. I also had my passport photos and headshots saved as low rez jpegs. For most of the passports, it auto populated the info, which was nice. I did put my flight going home since I'm taking the transfer and i want my boarding pass printed but you can just say thst your not flying and add it later, if you want. I also put cash as my payment and I was able to change it later.

I just did mine, so let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes, you can put in nonsense/wrong answers for much of it and then go back and fix later. That includes flight info/how you plan to get to port, as well as payment info (just click "cash," you can add cc info later). I did that for my last cruise and had no issue at check in, and no issue going in later on to change things. The things you will need to have are info on each passenger (name/DOB/address/email/passport # and expiration/etc.), the passport photos, and the ID photos.

If you are flying in a few days before, I wouldn't bother putting that in. If you give it to DCL, then at least they know where you are (or where you should be), but I don't know what the real benefit is of DCL knowing that.

I second the suggestion of checking out the linked thread, as it was super helpful for me! I also second @Alicatt's suggestions; I created a Word doc with all of the passenger info so I could just cut/paste (though watch the formatting of dates for DOB and passport expiration, it kept reformatting when I pasted and then I kept getting error messages. So take a few seconds to check all of that before you hit save. Saving the images as low-res will also cut down on the bandwidth needed to upload them.
