Online Check-In Question

We arrive in 72 days (YAYYYY). I have made a room request in the chat feature in MDE (and I know there is no guarantee of getting it) and the CM has put that request through.

If I do online check-in, will that somehow negate my room request? I don't want to mess that up. I would much rather leave the request and visit the front desk when I arrive if that will be an issue

If not--

Am I too early for online check-in?

Will they put our room number in the app upon online check-in? Or does that matter at all?

Thank you! Sorry if I'm being confusing!

You can complete online check in at any time once the reservation is linked to MDE. As for your requests, if you skip the request section of online check in you will be okay.

Your room number will not appear in the app until your assigned room has been cleaned and ready to be occupied on your arrival date.

You can do online checkin now. Just leave the Requests section blank.

Your room number won’t be posted to MDE until your room is actually ready for you on checkin day. They ask what time you expect to arrive - I usually enter a time about an hour earlier, in hopes of getting our room number before we arrive. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t!

Edited to add- I agree with Michael above! :cutie:

Hey All, we’ve not stayed onsite for a couple of years now, what’s the best way to try and make room requests and should I totally avoid online checkin if a make room requests another way ? We’ve already got a preferred room so it’s just like requested a certain building and top floor room.. Thanks 😊

Yes, if you make a request by any other method, leave that part of online checkin blank. You can make requests by calling the reservation line, and I think you can make them via online Chat (I’m not as familiar with making requests for cash reservations as I am for DVC :cutie:).

If you put a time of arrival down, can that supersede your request making them think you need a room available by that time? (Therefore prioritizing that)

Thanks for the answers all, I will leave any room requests and arrival time from online check in and have a live chat with a CM for my requests...

It's been a year since I used it, but there used to be a box to tick there to say to prioritize early check in. Sometimes they seemed to prioritize that when I didn't tick the box, though.

this is what I'm scared of. Though, we shouldn't get there until normal check-in time or later anyway. We are driving from Alabama and it's about 6.5 hours for us. Count in a stop for lunch a bathroom break and that will make it at least 7.5. I plan on getting my crew up in time to leave at 8, but if I can pull them out of bed earlier I will!

One other thing though, I’ve also heard of people who’s room is not ready yet and they go up to the counter and they just give them something available thinking the people want to be in their room

That box was still there when I did my online check in about a month ago.

The arrival time doesn’t always mean you get your room by that time. I would say maybe 50% of the time I get my room number by that time, and about 50% of the time I get the room number an hour or two later. When I was working, I would check in after work, and I would put a 1:00-2:00pm arrival time, hoping I would get my room number before I left work to drive over at 4:00pm. There were many times this did not happen. I think the latest I ever received a room was 7:30pm.

I think you will be fine either way. Honestly, have no idea what Disney 'online check-in' actually does when you do that months ahead of time, Disney seems to define that feature different from other popular vacation destinations. Other places we have stayed have online check-in that you can only do when arriving on the property or within a few hours of your scheduled time. Room request is simply stating a 'preference' and none of us have any way to know if that wasn't available or you might have gotten the same thing without specifying it.
