Online check in/ Extra leg room Question

Hi,

just a quick question.

If I check in online 24 hrs before hand and turn up on the day and request the extra lefg room seats for the additional £30-£50 can I do this or do I need to not check in online and just turn up on the day?

I would checkin online as if the extra legroom seats have gone, you may end up in the not so good seats
checkin then change

Can i just ask- is it possible to change your seats at DTD to get these additional leg room seats or does it have to be the airport?
