online check-in and use RAC?

Can I check in online for my return flight and still use RAC to check in my luggage? I remember a few years ago I checked in online and when I got to RAC they wouldn't take my luggage because I had already checked in online. I am hoping this has changed! TIA

Unless you are flying SWA or another airline without assigned seats, there is no reason to check in online before using RAC. As I understand it, if you are on SWA and can use RAC (at POP or the All Stars only), then you can check in online 24 hours in advance and still use RAC for your bags.

My reason would be so I can try to upgrade to Business Class on AirTran.

I had a problem a few months ago when I checked in on line, I couldn't check my bag at the resort. It isn't that they don't want to take the bag, they can't the computer won't let them print out the luggage tags. You can ask at the RAC desk but if I were you I wouldn't chance it. Once you check you luggage at the resort you are checked in, can you then go back to your room and your computer and upgrade then?

When I last went two years ago, they printed your boarding pass at the desk when you checked your baggage.

This year, our boarding passes were already printed out in the envelopes given to us by Bell Services when they picked us up at our room to take us to the Main Building. So we didn't even have to do online check-in.

If you have 4 A+ credits in your account, you can convert them to an upgrade before you leave. Then just call after midnight the day before you are due to fly home and you can upgrade that way.

ex: Flying home Saturday? Call Thurs after midnight so it's technically Friday.


btw, it's 4 credits per person.
