Online ADR's possibly working

also been playing about with this tonight and couldnt get it to take my phone number, and i booked through disney us. i went into my hotel reservation and managed to log in using phone number, but same number will not work for dining, so have decided it is definitely not us and its a glitch their end. when i tried to access dining after logging in my ressie it wanted me to log in again. But I did find some better times for my ADRs. what worries me is that effectively you could have your offical ADRs and then make as many as you like so have two dinners holding to keep options open if you choose to use fake set of details.
hopefully they will get the bugs worked out soon:cool1:

I wouldn't mind that really. £5 per ressie or something? Taken off the cost of the meal obviously.

The reservation number idea will cause problems though I think. I have been on the phone AGAIN to disney and they don't even know what I'm talking about when I ask for my US ressie number. I've given up trying now lol.

This is the third time I've rung to book meals and the first time they've attempted to solve my lack of a US reservation number. After a 40 minute phone call (being transeferred/on hold 5 or 6 times) I finally have CRT breakfast after seeing a time I wanted free online :goodvibes I also had a super friendly CM in the end who was saying how I had to make it special for my DGF as it's her first trip :wizard:

Anyway, I just thought I'd post to say I like the new online system because it's fairly handy for finding out a few dates/times you would be able to get before phoning. It's particularly good because some CMs will only search for the exact time you ask for, whereas the online system looks an hour either side if there's nothing available.

No, the whole point is that it would be a credit card guarantee - i.e. you don't get charged anything unless you fail to show up and didn't cancel, in which case your card would be charged. No money would be taken off the meal.

I have absolutely no idea why Disney have failed to implement this, since - IMHO - this new online booking system is ripe for abuse. I can see people making many multiple reservations, and others booking and then changing their mind and not bothering to cancel. It's a shambles and is only going to make the E-ticket restaurants even harder to catch.

This may be a stupid question but why must it be guaranteed by credit, not debit, card?
I don't have one so I've had to use my mum's to book everything. When booking online it automatically puts your name down as the credit card holder though, so I can't book any meals which require a credit card online.

i just tried it - got the following message:
Sorry, the booking system is currently unavailable. Please try again later or call (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to dial this number.

hurray! maybe they've realised how badly designed it is and have scrapped it? doubt it though :(

I managed to get an ADR completed last night. Could not find my previous telephone ADRs but wonder if the telephone number is the issue.

One point was that I got distracted and found the screen timed out. Was not until this morning that I got an email with the ADR number :)

I noticed last night that when I made an on-line ADR for 10.30am, that when I tried to find the one I made for 11.15 (that I made by phone), that it had been cancelled - so be careful, as the system may not allow you to have more than one reservation for roughly the same time

Looks to be working OK but not gone as far as making the reservation.

Never thought I would hear that, making ADR's with Disney is fantastic and fun:rotfl2:

I just got my phone bill from ringing last month, 74 mins cost 3p/min, not 1p as Telediscount stated.

Well that's one good thing then. Not allowing you to double book and keep one as a back up. :D

probably right now is the best time to try - the system is up and america is asleep...

just booked another one..

you can book more than one at a time, but i didn't try....just booked one, then another..separately...

fun fun fun...

hopefully when we get to the parks in september, all the reservations will actually be there :goodvibes

Quite a good system.
Will check this out later see if we can get any other restaurants earlier if we wanted them.

Wayne, ouch. We are lucky and do all our bookings through the DVC hotline so is free for us but ouch.

But you can, you just have to supply fake details.

All you need to do is set up 10 hotmail accounts, and you can book 10 restaurants at the same time and then decide nearer the time which you want to attend. Or any number of accounts.

if everyone does that, they're going to have completely empty restaurants come free dining time

yep, obviously not everyone will, but definitely some will.

It was possible to abuse it with the phone system, but at least then you knew it would take ages on the phone and cost money for the call.

I've managed to book a "test" ADR, but am having trouble cancelling it.

I received the confirmation number via email and used my home phone number (minus the first 0) for the booking, but now I can't retrieve the reservation to cancel it!

Will keep trying, but hope it doesn't inconvenience anybody...

Hmm its all great, except for:
- Difficulty for UK people getting the correct reservation number/phone number.
- Potential abuse. I can really see this becoming a problem. I wouldn't be surprised if this in its current form gets pulled. Even those who aren't scalpers trying to profit on ebay or whatever, there is the temptation to book up more than you need, even is you have to use different details or even a different IP address. I mean you can call and do that if you really want but it's much less convenient.
The selfish thing to say would be to only allow the system for those with a valid reservation (assuming that could be found), but then that wouldn't be fair to offsite visitors who want to make genuine ADRs...
I'll be watching this with interest.
