Online ADR vs Calling

I just browsed the system and it seemed to take awhile to make 1 reservation, let alone 10.

Does anyone have an opinion if its easier to call or to take the time with the online system?

Practice making online reservations before your 90-day mark. The advantage to online resies vs calling is that you can start booking at 6am vs 7am when calling. I booked 21 reservations in less than 30 minutes, but I had made a list of the dates, times and locations of all of my ADRS first.
Good luck :)

I called this morning because the system was down at 8:00 or so Eastern Time. It still took a while for 7 ADR's because the CM said the system was finally up but was running very slow on their side. It was only 16 minutes so not too bad. At least DS will be surprised since his Birthday will happen while on our trip and at the Restaurants.

There is NO down side to trying online, as you get an hour's head start. Keep practicing and give it a go!!

I personally like calling but you do have an hour advantage of online. Good luck.:thumbsup2

Absolutely try online at 6am. You have a head start which is important if you have some hard reservations. It was so easy, that I was done in 15 minutes with 8 ADRs. Definitely be prepared.

Is that 6 a.m. EASTERN time? :confused3 I'm Central, so if that's the case, I'd need to be online at 5 a.m., but I can do that.......

Yes, that's 6 am eastern, so 5 am for us in central. I did it about a week and a half ago. I wasn't online at exactly 5; I was still sleeping at exactly 5. I was started before 6, however.

Once you have something in your cart, you have it, so do your hardest to get ADRs first, but don't bother checking out yet. You can put up to 10 ADRs in your cart before you check out.

I will say, I got everything I wanted at exactly the time and day I requested. I was a little shocked. (Yes, that includes Le Cellier and CRT. We've never done Le Cellier before, but we were curious about it after reading all the, admittedly mixed, reviews here on the disboards.)

I really liked the online ADRs. The only complaint I have is that is requires that you pay in full for CRT, and we have a TiW card, which gives 20% off, and there is no place to put it on the website, so I didn't get my discount. I tried to call later and talk to a CM about it, but they said they would have to cancel and reschedule and there is a chance I could lose the reservation in those seconds.

Thanks for all that info! However......We're planning on more than 10 TS reservations during our 11 day stay. I realize I can only book 10 days at a time, so I had planned on booking Day 11 the next day if we decide we want a TS breakfast that morning.

What I am saying is that during the first 10 days of the stay, (for which I'll be making ADRs all at once) we will likely want more than 10 TS meals. But if I cannot book more than 10 online, then I suppose it stands to reason that I should aim for the 10 I want MOST and then call at 7 a.m. Eastern and try to make the extra ones? :confused3 Is that correct?

I _think_ you can make 10 at a time and then checkout, and then make more on a seperate transaction. (We're didn't need more than 10, as we're there for 7 days during F & W and we're planning on snacking around the world some.) I put the 10 in my shopping cart that I knew I wanted, but I was toying with the idea of a sit down meal for our last day for lunch, so I tried to put an 11th in and it said my cart was full. I checked out, and thought about going back, but I had to get breakfast made and get DS ready for day camp. I never did end up making any more ADRs, although I played with it a bit.

I like calling and dealing with a CM who knows what they are doing (I hope). I don't want to take any chances that I'll screw it up!!!

And I was exactly the opposite. I did mine online last week becasue I didn't want to take the chance of a CM screwing up!! (at least I would only have myself to blame for a mistake). It took me about 10 minutes to make 8 ADRS and check out online, and about 5 minutes to make 3 changes the following day. I found it very quick & easy.

Good luck!

I feel your pain... I rolled out of bed at 4:45 this morning, and it was HARD - but so worth it when I had all of my reservations (including Chef Mickey's, Le Cellier, and California Grill along with 6 others) in 20 minutes!

I would say go back to bed after doing the reservations, but by then I had Disney on my brain and was too excited about getting what I wanted!

Although I haven't used the online system yet, I'm looking forward to it. I agree, I don't want the chance of a CM screwing up with the wrong time, place, ect. At least I will be able to see it and not just take their word for it. Not saying they would deliberately put the wrong time or place, but I know things can happen.
