One Way Trip to Canada, Eh? FINAL THOUGHTS 08/10

Same, same! You can tell people don't have alot of extra money - there are usually fireworks going off all around for about a week early. Haven't heard anything yet.

Is this your Independence celebration also?

We had the miltary come in to show the kids tanks and jeeps. Of course we thank our troops for our freedom. July 1st is Canada's birthday.

We will hear fireworks all weekend even though it is not legal to do. Only allowed on July 1st and Victoria Day in May.

That it is too funny about the mom and little girl!

What a great picture, I love it.

That's a cool picture you received.

Yeah, I think "Mars Needs Mom" got really bad reviews.[/QUOTE

I'm excited about the print. I already have a Walt superimposed over the castle with a great quote in black and white and a retro snow white lithograph framed in my dining room, so this will be a nice addition.

Tammie, we're still not independant!

Canada Day is just to celebrate the formation of all the provinces coming together to ESSENTIALY, keep the United States from taking anymore land up north..

We celebrate it the same as your July 4th though. BBQs, beer, and fireworks!

I guess we all have something to celebrate!:yay:

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE! HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT DAY!:cheer2:

Jackpot Bingo was happening soon, but we hadn’t played all week, so I was feeling guilty about winning all that money that everyone else had put in to the pot, so we skipped it. Tonight was the semi-formal night so we went back to the room to be sure we got our nap in and get ready. We sort of dressed up – I wore slacks – (Please forgive this picture of a picture already in the frame)

I was surprised that some people wore jeans and t-shirts. Disney and the West Coast = pretty casual, which makes it nice and comfortable for everyone!

We had some time before dinner, so we stopped by the shops to see what was on sale. Nothing I couldn’t live with yet.

Our dinner was in Triton’s and It was LOBSTER NIGHT! Apparently I didn’t take any lobster pictures. I brought my glass of wine. For appetizer, I had Garlic and Herb Sauteed Shrimp; a Garden Fresh Salad with basalmic dressing; We had bread with roasted pepper dressing; and baked lobster tail with green beans and rice. I had heard about miniature tails and that you should order two, but I was sure I was getting full already. I’m glad I didn’t order a 2nd – I thought it was plenty big enough – I guess I’d say it was Medium sized. For dessert, I chose the chocolate lava cake – it was chocolatey, warm and delicious, with vanilla ice cream.

After we rolled out, I wanted to check out the piano player in the Cadillac Lounge. Well, not check him out – I wanted to hear some music and have a glass of wine.

We did a walk by of Mickey in his tux on the way through to the lounge

I love the theme in here:

Now the piano player. I actually should have taken his picture, but I didn’t want him to come and join us at our table. We sat in the nice comfy seats by a porthole and perused the wine list.

I ordered a nice glass of Cab and settled in. Ummm, what was that noise? Oh, the entertainment? What? This guy proceeded to butcher every Billy Joel song know to man. I was actually glad when he paused for a break. Don’t look for him on AI anytime soon!

The show tonight was Disney Dreams, an Enchanted Classic. I love this one. We weren’t early so our seats were on the far left side. We could see fine, but it was hard to get good pics:

I Wish my Disney dreams were like this! In mine I'm always lost at the park, can't find Jim on the ship or really need to find a bathroom and no one will tell me where it is! :rotfl2: :3dglasses

When we came back to our room, we had this depressing sight. Not the towel – I think that’s a two-headed swan! The tip envelopes and debarking instructions to remind us we only had one more day left and tomorrow was packing day 

NEXT: MY KINGDOM FOR A HAT!

The Disney Dreams show looks like a lot of fun! I'm really going to have to start dropping some not-so-subtle hints about us taking a cruise sometime. We have some friends who I am sure would go with us. They bought DVC points a few years ago....but the wife doesn't like theme parks....well, she doesn't like riding rides - she does like shopping. So they don't use their points at the parks, they have taken a cruise, swapped out to go somewhere else, and are heading to Hilton Head next month. I am sure if we coordinated our schedules we could plan one with them.....hmm:rolleyes:....I'll have to get on that!

I hear those wheels turning, Tanya! :thumbsup2 You really should do a Disney cruise! It is the best! We used points for both of us, but if you have a longer or more expensive one, or want a balcony, you can use points for one of you and pay discounted cash for the other one. Some people discourage you from using points for a cruise, but it's your vacation, if you want to take a cruise instead of staying in a resort, take a cruise!:yay: Also, your meals are paid for with a cruise, so it really comes out even, I say. It would be really fun to go with another couple, too!:cool1:

Hi Tammi. I am really enjoying your trip report. DH and I are signed up for the Repo cruise in Sept and it will be our 1st (hopefully not our last). I think your swan may be an elephant with really big ears.

The swan is nothing compared to the snail we got last cruise. It sure looked like someithing else not very disney friendly. :lmao: Kids couldn't figure out what we were laughing at.

Can't wait to here how your last day went.

Thank you! Your cruise will be here before you know it, and you will be hooked! I think you're right about the elephant.

 That's funny. I've never seen the snail.

:rotfl2: I realized that after I posted - it had just been so long since the trip, and the angle of the photo just looked strange to me at the moment! :lmao:
It made you comment! :3dglasses

We had never really thought of ourselves as "cruise people" :confused3, of course, never having gone on one I don't know how we would know that.....just from movies I guess.:lmao: But we are big-time Disney people, and we always have a good time with this other couple.....the wheels will be working overtime on this! Now that our kids are all getting older and not as able, or as willing to vacation with us, we should have excess points to burn for a cruise :thumbsup2

ah, tip envelopes, sad!

It sounds like a really lovely evening all around!!!

It will be a fun way to use those points for sure! Oh the places you will go! We didn't think of ourselves as "cruise people" either - I thought Jim would be bored, but he wasn't at all, and it is a way to see lots of ports without flying to all of them and unpacking!

I know, it is a sad reminder we are heading back to "the real world."

It was a very nice evening.:cloud9:

That's pretty unusual that the piano player was such a bad singer. They usually get really good entertainers.

Your Disney dreams are pretty funny, I must say. Mine are planning activities.

I was surprised, too. Maybe he just had trouble with Billy Joel :confused3

Dreaming of planning? Just like a true DISer! :thumbsup2
