One Way Trip to Canada, Eh? FINAL THOUGHTS 08/10

Wow...it's really weird seeing those CMs in jackets and hats and everything...And the pool areas are practically empty!

Love your photos of the ship. Feels like you're taking me on a tour. I especially love the Route 66 lounge area. It looks so cool!

Wonderful photos of the ship, Tammie! With every new one a new memory came back.

I especially love the one of the CMs in their winter gear - reminds me of DLRP - they are in their winter gear most of the year! :rotfl2:

Maybe we can lure you over to the east coast to cruise with us once - that would be the ultimate fun! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you bring you some memories!:goodvibes
Oh Yikes! I didn't realize Paris was that cold:eek:

We would love to sail with you! We have sailed from Florida twice, so I'm sure it will happen again - I just want it to be to someplace warm next time!

I am all caught up! I'm glad to hear you had a fun pirate night, I've heard mixed reviews so am happy yours was so much fun. Mixed reviews on Toy Story as well, it will be interesting to see what the E's think.

It sounds VERY cold and how interesting given that you were hardly in Alaska yet! It will be very interesting to see how warm, or cold, our trip is.

I think Pirate Night as with most things, is what you make of it - I'm easily entertained!:hippie: I think you can really get into it with the boys!

I'm thinking it will be alot warmer at the time you are going.

Thank you! I had my dear readers in mind when I took the pics!

On the Magic it is call the Snowfall or Waterfall....or something like that.
One of my favorite 'cruise things'. :thumbsup2

Nope, no ice (that's the granola floating on top). I think it's just the camera flash that makes it look shiney.

On the Magic this was only on the Lumineres breakfast menu and was not even on the their brunch menu (on sea days). Our head server told us each night where our team would be working breakfast the next day and had a batch made up for us every morning! When only two of us showed up for breakfast one morning, we had them give two to the couple at the table with us...got them hooked too! :)

Nice! It's so great when they go out of their way to make things special for you! We weren't even allowed to sit with our servers at breakfast or lunch. Of course that could be because there were only two of us, not the whole table together.

HI! Checking in - only through page 5...you are still 3 weeks away from the cruise.

Do you have your Nook "stocked up" yet? If you want more suggestions - I've been reading the Janet Evanovich books - kind of a light-hearted mystery. She's a bounty hunter who is luckier than she is good. But my favorite series is the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. I don't even know how to begin to describe them, but it's one set that I keep and re-read. Usually I take my books to a used book store and stock up on more.

Finally! Whew! I was a lot farther behind than I thought!

Loved your portion on Disneyland! I am very excited to head out there in 2013. Hopefully all of the construction will be done then. It does appear so charming!!

Boarding- yikes that is quite a mess! Gate lice- :rotfl2:!

Your stateroom is just a couple of doors down from the one we ended up in on the Magic on the DDD in '08 (6018). We liked the location so close to the forward elevators...did not like that we had to rush the kids through the QC anytime we wanted to go to Deck 9.

Love the scrapbook! How nice! Two weeks via parcel post and it still didn't make it?!?!? Ay. Even cross country 2 weeks should have been enough time. :(

Love how you kept track of your FE gifts as you received them. Wish I could do that- no way with all these kids, they are really quick to grab out the goodies. And if it's gum or chcolate forget it, it's gone before we can get the door open! Haha!

Sorry Jim didn't enjoy much of his meal in Palo- the pics have me drooling! We had one bad Palo experience...it was actually on the DDD. They had just changed chefs and the food quality was poor for what I was accustomed to at Palo. :sad2:

Golden Gate Bridge crossing...wow....just...WOW! I have ever been to SF so I'm not familiar with the perspective but I can just tell it was amazing!

SF- oh man, I would love to make it over there! What an absolutely beautiful city! (OK I admit, you had me at Ghirardelli!:rolleyes1) The Walt Disney Family Museum..that is on my list for sure. I read the big 800-something page Walt Bio by Neal Gabler (I think was his name)...wonderful book!

Trolley, that stinks about the rude jerks but man...if the pictures are that amazing how awesome was the ride?!?! Wow! And crazy bounce back appendicitis lady? LOL! Thats crazy cool right there!:thumbsup2

Jim pocketing a Mickey waffle- priceless!

I'm sorry about your suburn! My first couple of cruises I got some pretty bad burns but I am much more careful now and liberally apply the sunscreen!

Popsicle Pirate Party! No kidding! That is so strange seeing it so empty and those there all bundled up. Not sure I could survive an Alaskan cruise (or even a WC Repo...ay...I only have 2 pairs of jeans you know, and even one of those is capris!) ;) I don't do well with temps under 55. Luckily that is virtually never a problem here! :lmao:

Hilarious that picture of the CM's in their winter coat and the little girl in the bathingsuit right behind them!...And the nearly empty pools and decks, surreal! (Haha, one kid in the Mickey Pool...now THAT is something you don't see every day!)

Whew! Now that I'm all caught up brig it on! I'm ready for more!!! :)

All caught up now! Am really enjoying following along on your cruise. We have never gone on one, but are seriously considering one in the future. Of course, it would be a Disney one!

Mmmm, that looks so yummy!

It was - but definitely not a meal!:goodvibes

Thanks for reading! I have been camping this weekend, but I'll get caught up with yours, I promise!

I have a few books, but I've been reading again more with the Nook, so suggestions are welcome! I read The Orchid Affair as suggested - it was really fun - and I have The State of the Onion waiting in the wings. I read Cruise Confidential, Daniel's Gift, Water for Elephants. Right now, I am reading a kid's book - The Kingdom Keepers - a cute fantasy taking place in MK - just looked fun.

Finally! Whew! I was a lot farther behind than I thought!

Good Job!:thumbsup2

Yay! You'll have to let me know - we'll be living in Phoenix, AZ by then and will have APs to DL!

Boarding- yikes that is quite a mess! Gate lice- :rotfl2:!

Hopefully it gets better. Gate Lice was borrowed from CRDisMom Just thought it was so appropriate!:thumbsup2

Yah, she finally go the paper 2 weeks after the 2nd cruise :sad2: I think the Pony Express was faster!

I wrote them all down, but I lost the list from the last couple of days. I could have used some kids to help eat the candy :goodvibes

Yes, you will have to visit SF for sure! This was our first trip and it was so amazing! We only touched the tip of the iceberg!

The trolley was worth it once we figured it out! I guess it is like the soup nazi, you just have to expect it!

I felt stupid, since I do skincare! :sad2:

55 is Winter, right?

It was funny to see some people so bundled up and some just not really noticing! More to come - just got home from camping, but I'll try to do another update tomorrow!

Yay for all caught up! :cool1: Thank you so much for coming along! You really should plan a Disney Cruise! It is just so magical - not to be missed!!!

Sorry this has taken so long - I hope you weren't holding your collective breath! When you let it out we might have a tornado! ;) Now where were we???? Oh...

Next, we headed to Studio Sea for a DVC presentation. We were entered into a drawing for $300 OBC (on board credit) but didn’t win. There were some really good incentives for adding on, and of course they are selling Aulani points big time. It was a great presentation, but no winnings, and more points are not in our budget right now. On our way out, we were given a wonderful gift – a famous print of Walt and Lilly on a cruise with Mortimore Mouse, who later became the first Mickey!

We headed to WaveBands for a guest talent show. There were only 3 acts entered, two of them by the same little girl performing two different kinds of dances, and another pair of little girls who sang. They were really cute, and I think they let them all tie for first.

I wanted to see Mars Needs Moms In the Buena Vista theatre, so we headed in to get our seats. There was a mom there alone with her two yr old little girl. She climbed over the people in front of us to get her seat, then needed to take her out to go potty. She asked me to watch her backpack and save her seat. Guess I have a friendly face??
She came back - actually someone tried to take her seat and I saved it! She got up and went out again to get snacks – this time someone needed one more seat together, so I moved her down a seat.

About 10 minutes into the movie, her daughter got fussy and she needed to leave – I told Jim I saw that one coming!
The movie got a thumbs way down from Jim, and I slept through most of it – hope I didn’t snore! LOL

Next: So You Think You Can Sing?

I slept through Mars Needs Moms too! Best part of the movie was the nap I took......

The dancing girl in the talent show was at our table. She had done some Irish dancing for the assistant server at the table next to us as she was from Ireland. She had done this at the end of dinner one night and the servers sure appreciated it (or maybe they were just being polite).

Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one who slept!

I'll bet that was fun and encouraging for her!:cutie:

yes you have the friendly face i know.
:thumbsup2

and i havent heard to many good things about that movie...not sure if i will see it.

Well I guess I saved my money on that movie. My dd wanted to see that one but we missed it.

We never win anything. Only calls from telemarkers after so I stopped putting my name in anything.

And since this thread is called One Way Trip to Canada I will say....

HAPPY CANADA DAY !!!!

HAPPY CANADA DAY to you!!! How do you celebrate? We are having our 4th of July on.... can you guess when? ;) I'm sure you know. It is funny to talk about it with our English friends. :rotfl2:

That's a cool picture you received.

Yeah, I think "Mars Needs Mom" got really bad reviews.

Probably the same way you celebrate the 4th only we wear red and white and sing our own anthem. There will be fireworks tonight. Or should I say the whole weekend you will here them going off. Nice to have a true long weekend.

Same, same! You can tell people don't have alot of extra money - there are usually fireworks going off all around for about a week early. Haven't heard anything yet.

Is this your Independence celebration also?
